You'd be better off buying everything in Dabo.

It’s equal to 23 premium 10 pack pulls...you’re very likely to get several beholds that way and at least walk away with 1000’s in honor...

Yeah I don't get it. For 11,490 dilithium you have a 36% chance of getting the jackpot. For 15,490 you have 100% chance of the jackpot. You might as well do that.

At the end of the day, if you really really want a specific character and they are in the faction store right now, and you just can't wait one second, then I guess that's what it's for.

Back a year ago, good ol' Revolutionary Damar showed up unsuspectingly in Dabo and in Cardassian stores. At the time, I was in Blood Legion and glad to share the fleet with it's current admiral, the lovely Cleo Dukat.

She likes Cardassians. A lot. Well, specifically Dukat, but the others aren't bad to look at.

I knew, as did most, as soon as Damar popped that she would be going for First to Max, and we all supported her. This was before citations and he had yet to be in a pack, so the rare and only way to get him was 15k DIL from the store or 15k to max dabo.

Secretly and quietly, I did both. I was going to let Cleo have FTM rights, but I was gonna be right behind because he was a good gauntlet card in the first young days of the feature.

Well, then this guy named Will showed up and maxed Damar. That did dampen our spirts for Cleo, but we pressed on.

Was it a mistake? Oh sure. I've had Damar in several beholds since then that I could have gotten him for much, much cheaper.

Do I regret it or lose sleep over it? Nah.

Will I do it again? Not likely.

Did you ever do it after the honor system was started?

I know if you do not have the crew, honor will not be of much use.
But am curious if you ever did after the honor system was employed.
  • No
Only the top players do it, and this must not be a derogative or deprimating claim, people. In a huge way, they support the game for all of us "less-payers". My hat has, and will be off to them. Always.

Agreed. I think we need more Whale Appreciation posts. (:

Some people seem to be bitter about those who spend money, but at the end of the day, they’re paying not just for them to play, but also for the rest of us.

In some other games, I’ve seen some downright nasty comments about p2pers, and it’s always a headscratcher.

So, thank you, p2pers, even if sometimes your decision to spend 10k dil on dabo confuses me.

I never bought the 5*, but I did buy a 4* in 2016, when Blood Oath Dax was not available and DB did not have her avatar available. It was really nice to have a rare crew. But now, there are no rare crews anymore.

Remember when we talked about saving up Premium Packs, you mentioned discipline or lack of it. And I fully agreed with that. While I never tried to clear Dabo when you would have saved up a lil more than the returns of 3 montly card you would be at that 10 kpoint. Which relativates the costs...

    That price is completely ludicrous.

If someone was going to save up 10k dil by collecting their monthly card every day, I’d seriously hope that they’d have better ways to spend it. :p

I don't think so... but I'm not really sure. I tried really hard to pokemon this game and literally collect them all, not really to max fusion, but at least to get a single copy. Then the voyage exclusive ones came out, and since RNG hates me, I gave up on trying. It's actually been really freeing and far less expensive, obviously, since I gave up.

I did clear dabo 4 times in order to FF Drone Seven before she was released. If honor were a thing, I would not have done that.

Finally thought of a good anology. Several years ago, Burger King released a line of burgers: the Double Stacker, the Triple Stacker and the artery-clogging Quad Stacker. I remember an interview with some corporate honcho who when pressed about the low sales of the Quad Stacker admited that it wasn't there to actually be ordered, but to make the Double and Triple Stackers look like healthier options by comparison.

Thus, the 15000 dil crew aren't nessessarily there to be bought (although I'm sure DB loves it when they are), but to make the 6500 dil packs and the $100/$50 event offers look like deals.

I remember in the old forum, comments about maybe the 15000 dil. Being worth it to get that last star on crew. You brought up a more valid reason. That is, to get the crew in the first place. Of course now with honor the old reason of getting last star is not really valid anymore because of honor for citations.

I was thinking with the honor system, DB should lower the price of the legendary crew in faction store by half. But that thought was mainly because I was thinking of it being the last copy.

At 7500 dil. it might cut into sales of the 6500 dil. offers. But I think DB needs to come up with something lower even if it is only 12000 dil.

No and I never plan to. Even if the person I really wanted is 15000 available straight up in the faction store, I'd rather just do 15k worth of premium pulls.

With 15k in premium pulls I can...
    a) get a few 5*s I don't have yet
    b) might luck out and get the one I'm looking for in the faction store anyway
    c) get more stars on a 5* I have already which isn't FF'd

Honestly, it's the better choice in my book.

5k Dilithium $50 should be more than enough for a single legendary star anymore than that it’s obscene

Even $50 is way too much when you can get an extra star and equipment to raise to level 50 for $25. They just don’t seem to get the concept of lowering the prices actually will make more money over a longer period of time. I even think they would make more in the short term too because a greater pool could spend. If people think they aren’t getting hosed with every offer, trust gets built and should a more expensive offer come out people want to support the company because overall they know they are being treated with respect as consumers and not as “marks”. I would love to see the numbers for the good chron offer and dil. But then again maybe sustainability isn’t something they care about. Yes many good features have come out but as long as that stench of greed hangs every time we log on and see blatant examples of ridiculous pricing the goodwill created just goes poof. This game to me is good and I’ll continue to play and spend sparingly but in the right hands it could be so much better and so much more.

The problem with discussions like these is that it does not look at the whole picture. Compared to other companies DB is quite generous really. You can get many many characters via thresholds, monthly rewards, Voyages etc.

Yes, this latest honor "special" was a joke. And the prices for Legendary characters in the Faction Stores are overpriced. But a) all prices there need an overhaul and b) most freemium games try "stunts" like that. That is nothing "DB exclusive", but the nature of this business.

YD I got a "wonderful" personally made offer in a game for which I had to decide in a few seconds ;) Nice try cause even the freely available regular offer would have included more value.

And these ways to generate cash by lootboxes etc. even found their way to full price games for the consoles or the PC by now. Publisher giant Electronic Arts makes 3 digit millions with their microtransaction stuff in games like FIFA. Aka they not only cash in massively with sales of the regular games, but by now also with these optional extras.

STT comes from a small company and is no game for the masses really. Run of the mill casino games and simple casual games (without an expensive licence as well) make much more revenue than this game

    https://thinkgaming.com/app-sales-data/

So for it to survive (which should also be in our interest) of course they try to create income in various ways. Yes, some of those ways are dodgy, but...if an offer is good we (can) buy it. If not we ignore it. Sure, we as costumers want the best and most attractive offers only possible and stuff like the KBJ from the start of the week was another good step in that direction...

I would spend 5k to get another star for a legendary or to buy one of the two I want but don’t have yet. That would be the difference. I wouldn’t spend 15k for another star but I would spend 5k for one
