Exactly this. Poor planning on the OPs part. Not every character NEEDS to be immortalized if they are useful.
I guess not every player NEEDS free dilithium from immortalization achievements, either. 50k honor (that will also make a good crew even better) is not an unreasonable expenditure towards the next level.
And, yes, there are plenty of whales out there who already got the 350 crew achievement...that doesn’t mean DB won’t add more in the future.

Based on the way starbases have been handled, they'll expand the achievements when the appropriate number of pitchforks have been turned into flaming spears and thrown.

Agreed! I'm REALLY hoping he is SCI/MED/DIP, but I'm thinking there's a good chance he will be SCI/DIP/CMD. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he has ENG, but it's doubtful.

Oh I don't care about the bonus, and I don't have enough honor right now anyway. I'm not planning on blowing resources to compete enough for it to matter during this mega. I'll save it for another event or a card that I care about. When I do top him off he'll just go into cryo to make room in my roster.

Yes, my thinking exactly! I have been leveling Vulcans for the last 10 days and run out of IDICs, so the DYS deal will help me avoid replicating the IDICs at the lower levels and give me a chance of leveling him to 100 at the first attempt.
