Ships from the Movies

For some reason we seem to have a lot of different ships from the tv shows, but almost none from the movies (unless you count ships that originated on the small screen but also made it to the silver screen). I think only the HMS Bounty is the only one to have originated in a movie (and the other rendering of the Klingon Bird-of-Prey)? I guess you could argue the Borg sphere, although the version in the game is the one from Voyager, I think. Are there any others?

DB, any plans to bring some to life? Maybe . . .

USS Excelsior
USS Enterprise-A
USS Enterprise-E
USS Reliant (depending on "when" it's from, you could even give the Reliant an Augment trait and feature it for the summer mega event!)
USS Grissom
Valdore (Romulan)
Scimitar (Reman)
Any of the Son'a ships

Most of us remember these ships var better than a few that have recently been featured, like the Andorian or Orion ships.

    Yes to the Reliant.

Also the Enterprise-B, give it two stars, and schematics only available from cadet missions on Tuesdays. :D

I would try almost as hard for a 5* Commandeered USS Reliant as I did for my beloved ISS Defiant.

It really is weird that two years into the game, we still have such a dearth of movie ships. They've made a big deal in the past about how all the ships in the game are to scale with one another, which is why smaller craft like the Delta Flyer and runabouts aren't being introduced. I suspect the Son'a ships and the Scimitar may be on the other end of that spectrum, being too large for their ship scale. The Enterprise-E may even be pushing it, due to its length, though I don't think its design should dominate the screen in such a way that it would be intrusive even if some of the nacelles didn't fit.

That still doesn't account for the others on this list, though. Some of those designs (the Excelsior and the Miranda-class Reliant) showed up ubiquitously throughout TNG and DS9, too.

Also, wanna throw a shout out to the Oberth-class U.S.S. Grissom from The Search for Spock. Always thought that was kind of a weird design. Neat, though, and I dig it.

Then again, we have the Discovery, which is pretty long (I don't know about scale, and am too lazy to google, but a fleetmate has the Eaglemoss and in comparison to his other Eaglemoss ships, it's very long), and we also have the Borg Scout Ship which is pretty massive.

To be honest, I hadn't even looked at what the scale of Discovery is supposed to be. If these fan reconstructions are accurate, she's twice as long(!) as the Constitution class. Yeesh!

Of course, there was no way they could possibly not include the ship in the game, so they may well have fudged the scale. They conceded that was how they managed to get the Borg Scout Ship into the game, as the full size cube would fill the entire screen at any available magnification.

I'd actually be interested to hear the official account for the Discovery's place in the game's scale, in case @Black Pebble or @Shan has that info handy!

Yes, the U.S.S. Grissom! Adding that to the original post. Thanks.

I'm in favor of all the ships listed. Also how about Mirror versions of them too?
  • I'm with you on the movie ships. They're the ones I most want to see. I would have thought by now we would have had either the Enterprise refit or Enterprise-A. Either of these is the ship I most want to see.
