You should be happy you are getting an expedition in any form. Fire up your “corporate speak” decoder ring and re-read DB’s post. Expedition are the most polarizing event....translation; people hate them.

no, people don't spend for them.
That was a given. People love them but don’t spend on them? Is this like the event version of free range chicken? I love the chicken so I don’t want them to live in cramped quarters. But take my money and pass the barbecue sauce!
Obviously if people spent money on the level of other events they would find a way overcome the “time consuming” nature of creating them. But players don’t, so DB does not. why? Because there is really no way to overcome the fact they are hated (oops “polarizing”) without making them a different event. So they run them every 6 months pretty much as filler.
I'm a newer player thats never done an expedition so really looking forward to it. I now find hybrid give me the best of both worlds. I can hit 4000vp on the shuttles (admit I generally fail the 4th shuttle), and I can rank alright in a galaxy IF I use thousands of chrons.
I've really enjoyed this week's hybrid as I've been able to practice strategy on the factions and I'm not totally sick of them by the phase change (or missing other missions I need to put on to equip crew) My vp climb has been quicker, and so on the 2nd half I've spent 500 chrons finishing the threshold rewards. I can now put on those desperately needed Sec31 and Maquis missions I need, while enjoying a laid back Sunday pottering around in the garden. Maybe tomorrow I'll spend more chrons trying to get enough copies of Harry Kim, maybe I won't.
With hybrids I don't feel like I've got to set alarms to be in with half a chance of decent rewards, I also don't have to spend all my chrons or stop working on my crew. I have no idea what format this 3way hybrid is going to take, I am very excited about it though.

You can't really comment on how much people who love expedition events spend on them. For example, expedition events are actually my highest spending events, by far.
The main difference between galaxy and expedition, now that it can take less than 10 mins per ticket, is being able to use chronos. I suspect that if DB were to make the simple change of allowing players to buy expedition tickets with chronitons, as well as dil, they would both increase participation and probably make a lot more money. Also not putting them in the middle of holidays would help a lot!
And in all honesty, in the last 5 months we have only had 2 event types. That's just depressing.

To back up what Rowden just said -
I spent $800 to win the Laborer Spock shuttle event last September. $100 for the Spock offer, $100 for DIL strictly for shuttle boost portal buys, and then $600 for shuttle speedups.
I spent more than that to win an Expedition the year before. The game was very different 2 years ago.

Wow...just wow. I felt like a spendthrift for dropping about $100 total to get Captain Thiccness to 2/5* last week.

That sounds amazing. I don't need a life for those 4 days.

not sure why they didn't just put all 4 events together, 1 day each.
Or simultaneous. Would have the same effect. Click click boom.
