This is a huge fundamental change, and it will create a lot of agro from the players.
Well done on an engineering crew for the current objective event. I was going to suggest medical crew next, but it looks like you are already planning that.
Not thrilled with the sound of the Galaxy event redesign. Historically, the devs have not been good at this sort of thing and it will likely cause a lot of frustration and annoyance for the players. Other games I've played constantly change the game mechanics (thinking Merge Mansion) and it only causes problems and loss of trust; I've stopped playing those when it became impossible to know what game I would be playing after each update. I would advise to tread carefully.
Also, the frustration of yet another out-of-reach voyage/gauntlet exclusive crew is tempered by possibly having a way to earn them through effort/new currency. Just don't make the build up take six months of hard work; make it more like the chance of success with scans and less like Quantum recharge in CR (and definitely no longer than Quantum recharge rate).
Playing Since: 2018-02-26 Level: 99 Fleet: [10F] Ten Forward Loungers; 17hr, 20min Voyage /wo Refuel; 1652 Immortalized Crew; Highest Event Rank: 8 (God of Thunder)
Since there is yet another Voyage Exclusive Crew coming, PLEASE consider adding the oldest Voyage Exclusive Crew to the Portal after they have been available in Voyages for a while.
Has been suggested before by other players. At least one of which financially supported the game, and who quit playing because of the frustration.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I'm very happy with the idea of being able to earn semi-consistently towards exclusive crew rather than it all being blind luck. I've been going long on voyages as much as possible since Bridge Bev came along with no beholds to show for it and it's becoming frustrating. I might even start gauntleting again outside of OEs.
And I am cautiously optimistic about Galaxy 2.0 - the mindless tapping for little reward has had me at 130k and out on 1.0 for a long time.

I usually do the same. 130k is more than enough grind, in the grindiest Event type.

I really appreciate everything being written up here. It demonstrates engagement with the forums, and I know streams are generally more popular than reading, but as a hearing-impaired person I appreciate it greatly.
I appreciate the write up instead of a live stream as well (I like to read 😊) and am especially happy that the forums was included in the roadmap announcement.
Looking forward to the enhancements - even though I’ve been pretty fortunate as far as getting Voyage exclusives (finally got Vori Defender Chakotay the other day so now I have at least one copy of them all) my luck in getting the more recent Gauntlet cards has been pretty bad so maybe I’ll start playing that more often soon.
I didn’t notice this on the roadmap, but we now have 5* crew in our monthly daily reward calendar. I see Chancellor Martok as the reward on March 28 - 2 copies for VIP-14!
Now that I've gotten around to it, that's a really good survey, too! It has the expected stuff (player's choice things, How Likely Are You To Recommend, etc.) but asking us to choose our favourites from last year is a great way to gauge people's true opinions (much better than asking us to guess what we'd like that we haven't seen yet, in my experience) and asking for a specific episode we'd like to see more content from is a neat idea and really made me think.
Changing farming requirements is a bad move, who thought of this update? I bet it was not requested by players. Players requested MACROS shut down and players using them banned for life.
Don't change what's not broke. You will have unintended consequences which is usually player disengagement.

No one requested removing pre-farming. But if this shifts the event from mindless clicking to something you have to plan, that's a better way to stop macros than any bot check.
I have 0 faith they know how to build an engaging new event using strategy, but I can hope?
Agreed. It was also really unclear what exactly a new server and game rebalancing was referring to.
Sadly, there was very little in the list of that particular question that I had any real appetite for. As I read the list, my response to most of the options was "why?".

A new server means a new instance of the game where everyone starts from 0. No more new players competing against players with 8 year old rosters. Everyone starts from scratch. Maybe they tweak the stats of older cards or make other game breaking changes that they've wanted to but couldn't in the existing game.
They would keep the old server up for people that wanted to keep their existing account. If you believe the current team could support and develop two versions of the game at once, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Yeah, to me it seems like it would just eventually phase out the legacy server, overall just sounds like an extremely lazy idea.
It might be better to just offer a “catch up” pack to new players, that maybe gives you all 5 year old and older crew (maxed with all items), maybe sets your crew slots to like, 200, and just charge $24.99. One time buy.
The whole second server thing is just, i mean what exactly is it accomplishing? People who want to start from scratch can just make a new account. It dosnt take that long to get to a spot where you can do decently in events, but maybe the whole issue is that new players have to invest a lot of time to catch up.
Just thinking it through makes me realize that if the best that is being offered is essentially a voluntary purge of “elite” accounts from the competitive pool, its just, whats the point? Do it all over again? Spend tons of money and time to acquire the same crew you already have and compete against the same people you are already competing against? It wont do anyyhing to curb pay to win events……and wont do anything to bridge the gap between whales and casual spenders.
For as critical as I've been lately, I'll give credit where credit is due. This breakdown was well explained and showed promise for potentially making much needed changes within the game.
It's a shame that this comes after most, including myself, have already checked out, literally and figuratively. I am trying to be open minded and optimistic, but have been burned too many times to be fully. I look forward to more details and hopefully better communication like this.
A couple of other games I played started new servers regularly, and quite a few of the long-time players found it frustrating because they didn't want to be left out, and be stuck on an older server that was becoming more and more inactive -- so they started a fresh account with the new server, only to find that starting all over again wasn't really a whole lot of fun... leading to many of them quitting the games entirely.
So I'd suggest the devs be very cautious about changing too much. Yes, STT is aging, but there are still a lot of very active players, and even if they bring in a bunch of new players by altering the game in several ways, I fear they'd lose a lot of us veterans in the process.

Perhaps a compromise of sorts can be reached. Not saying anything like allowing people to yo-yo back and forth between the old and new servers, but maybe a restricted ability to go between. Or some sort of design that allows both servers to be part of the same "event" on occasion, so there is some interaction where all are included. Or perhaps both.
Or maybe something else entirely. I'd be open to them trying something new, as long as it didn't have the effect you're talking about. The game has gone stale for most players, and something to freshen it up is desperately needed.
New Server? After so many years getting almost every crew immortal and you expect me to start over? Ohhh no. I'd never ever do that. It's a slap in the face to the long time players who have invested some coin and a lot of time and effort into getting where they are. Just saying, bad idea. Most of the dedicated player base will leave and stt 2.0 will flop and flail. Heck I only still play because I'm in it too deep to quit.

Yep. It's like a relationship. If you're girlfriend is open for business for other dudes, then you feel super-duper duped. And the magic is for good and all left for good.

Is that Continuum Mission Crew hint suggesting we are getting a certain hairy, lactose-intolerant Crew?!?!?
Also, the Voyage Crew sounds like the kidnapper aliens that took people in their sleep in TNG.

Seems incredibly stupid.
Saves me money, I guess.
A "New Players Catch Up Pack" sounds like a much better solution. Good suggestion, Guest!
