This is disppointing to hear, but everybody is still on equal footing, so it should have little effect on potential event rankings for the majority of players in the game... right?
I would think ftp are hurt by this.
But it may effect newbies more than anyone else.
However, you still could be right, how many people actually see this info out of the player base.
For most of us commenting, we may not be hurt at all by this.

It will significantly disadvantage ftp players due to the number of crew slots and cost to get crew out of cryo and conversely it will significantly advantage players with large numbers of crew slots, immortal crew and those that have the ability to pick up large amount of chronos from voyages.
In the real world, events would come on us unexpectedly, giving us little time to prepare and making us prepare in other ways, for all eventualities.
It will be a bit of an inconvenience for sure. To make it a bit more fair, can we have in-game announcements as well as on the boards? Before I came to the forums I had no idea what was happening before a little icon popped up on my screen, about 14 hours before the event was to start (at 2 in the morning, now 3am with daylight savings) and no information about bonus crews etc. It did make things difficult.

This is such ****. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. NO MORE MONEY FROM ME. I can't deal with stupidity.
They only moved it from Wednesday to Friday. We will still have 6 days to prepare our crew and make roster changes.
They are not telling which additional crew will provide bonus until Tuesday. 2 days before event. Not 6!
If new crew is Janeway, then all Janeways will count. If new crew is dax, then all dax will count. There is no differences really.
Most events do not have all ferengis or all Klingons. That happens only if they are no crew variants or it's a megaevent. The only exception would be Spock was an additional crew for Sarek several months ago in an event . Since we have two Sareks now, Spock most likely won't count as a bonus crew anymore.
In most cases, you will know who the additional bonus crew are 6 days in advance.

Equal footing from an RNG standpoint. Did I level the right character? Or did I pick wrong?
This is not the real world. It is a game! Inconvenience? No. Disrespect!
Don't know about disrespect. It's definitely useful to have prior information and can make the difference between doing well and possibly failing. To be honest, I would prefer to know beforehand because my crew is young and limited and makes a huge difference to my ability to do well. I just don't understand why DB are saying they don't know what's happening ahead of schedule. In the real world, not knowing what's happening a few days in advance can be the difference between doing well and failing miserably. And losing lots and lots of money. I am sure there are 'reasons' and I'm sure it's a monetary policy disguised as a 'we're working so hard to make exciting events on the fly we can't tell you what's going on because we don't know either' because I just don't believe it.

Perhaps not. I have never used the cryostasis vault. I have 170 crew slots and am only using 127. I don’t know how it works but it sounds like some people are saying it requires a certain amount of time to pull people from the vault? This decision could put me at an advantage because all my crew are all on my access now roster. I could be wrong as I don’t know how the vault works.

I'm actually kind of surprised so many people (apparently) need to regularly unvault crew for events. I think I've only had to do that once or twice, and as I recall, I could've gotten by easily without doing so. Although I guess as my crew grows and I'm vaulting more and more super-rares, that could change.
Currently, my own experience is more like: find out who event + bonus crew are, start leveling the ones that aren't FE yet, and maybe buy an event pack ahead of time (if I like the new crew) so I can make use of them during the weekend. All that of course would be harder to do with so much less advance notice, but everybody would be in the same boat (as far as having the same limited amount of time to level up event + bonus crew).
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing. ~ Data, ST:TNG "Haven"

In a shuttle event bonus crew can make all the difference for getting into the top 1000. I have 180 crew in the Vault and 170 in my active roster. For this event I took out:
Mirror Ezri
Waitress Ezri
Ambassador Spock
They are in the Vault partly due to DB's power creep and partly due to me playing almost 2 years and eventually getting the stronger crew (which I guess can also be a called a form of power creep).
When I first got Ambassador Spock from an event he was my top DIP crew. Now he doesn't even make my top 10. He is 17th actually. He is not used on missions and cannot make it onto shuttles so the best place for him is the Vault.
Same for the Ezri's. (she was never top but was useful at some point)
This pretty much how every week goes. Except for full Galaxies. I dont bother taking anyone out for those because those events are mostly about the Chrons so I dont feel the need to spend the Merits to unfreeze.
Given the loss of two days for unfreezing event/bonus crew, it would be greatly appreciated if DB would again readjust the merits required to unfreeze. Ideally, DB would eliminate any cost for unfreezing an immortalized crew. However, should elimination of the merit-cost not be an option, I think it would be all-around-fair to the player base if the cost structure were readjusted to something along the lines of how Dabo is set up
[
1st unfreeze of 24h period: free
2nd unfreeze of 24h period: 10 merits
3rd unfreeze of 24h period: 30 merits
4th unfreeze of 24h period: 50 merits
5th unfreeze of 24h period: 100 merits
6th unfreeze of 24h period: 200 merits
7th unfreeze of 24h period: 400 merits

This sounds like an excellent compromise to this issue. It's not such a problem for me as I don't have such a strong crew that many are in the freezer, but those that do have should have the chance to get at them for an event.
“Holodeck 2 tomorrow, 1600 hours. Just you, me and a tuning fork”
I’d like to add my disappointment. Knowing next weeks crew before the current event starts at least gave us some ability to pick and choose which events to play. When the announcements started I was hopeful there would eventually be an event calendar giving players even more insight into what was coming.
This is a step backwards, and I hope you can return to the Wednesday announcement schedule soon.
Okay, so let me get this straight... The one big improvement that you'd made to the entire event ecosystem over the past year, which was improving communication about how to prepare for events - your primary money-making mechanism in-game - and now you're rolling that back?
I'm not sure your eye is on the prize, DB. This is a misstep in so many ways: To player-dev relationships, to the way your primary game mechnanic (weekly events) is executed, and maybe most importantly to your bottom line.
I don't get it. I don't like it. But what am I gonna do? Spend a bit less, which might be the biggest win of all.
This is another depreciation in quality from a game I used to enjoy much more than I do these days. Between this, the ever-increasing amount of bugs, lack of QA/QC, and overall fun (or lack-thereof) I get out of this game, I feel this is near the end of the road for me. It seems like most of the prior commitments from DB to DoBetter have gone out the window.
I've grown weary from all the speculation about what goes on behind-the-scenes, especially the extent to which CBS micromanages DB. As for this announcement about changing the announcement schedule, I'm disappointed.
What concerns me as a player isn't the reduction in time for planning for the next event, though. It's that, as others have noted, this has to be read in the same context as the recent layoffs and it sends a discouraging message to us as players about the viability of DB. Right now, it feels dubious at best. I don't know what it would take to restore my confidence, but I wish I had it back.

This is EXACTLY the real reason why this change is being made. They don't want you to pick events more easily, and are afraid that having information out is slowing down event pack sales. They need you to always feel the pressure to make impulse buys for these packs RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
As aforementioned, we were at one point promised an event calendar for the entire month, which never materialized. Then, we were told that we while couldn't have that, we could have a week's advance notice, which is now not feasible.
Frankly, a week is reasonable notice for us. You've put limits on crew slots, chronitons, credits, merits -- everything in game. A week lets us maneuver around those artificial limits. Two days does not.
I forget which event it was, but we had a shuttle event some time ago where all Dominion were announced as 2x bonus crew. It was announced on Tuesday. I was pissed. I literally finished unvaulting my Dominion characters on the last day of the event, just in time to refreeze them.
After that experience, I was incredibly frustrated. What's the point of collecting crew if the game's own disorganization and artificial scarcity environment prevents me from even using them? If that's going to be the new norm, I'm going to be very disappointed.
Something needs to change if basic advance notice is an issue for you. Back when we had one event a month, we had several weeks' notice. Perhaps you should consider slowing down the event calendar until you can do a solid job of QA/QC and providing advance notice to players. Or, if it's too difficult for you to part with the revenue stream of weekly events, start using more repeats.
Well, this ****.

Hard pill to swallow. You want us to participate in these weekly events and collect new crew (which, undoubtedly earns you more money than monthly events, etc.), but can't provide captains an appropriate opportunity to plan? Woof. I echo others who request a serious review of unfreezing crew costs based on this information.
Nope. Apparently the word that describes what a vacuum does is considered profanity, judging by the asterisks that were quoted, so that could be it. I guess I'll be generous in giving the benefit of the doubt.

You've always been generous and patient......even at your most critical in this place. That's why I am in a bit of shock.
Going by this event, its probably for the best that we don't know about bonus crew or any event details since it doesn't really matter. The bonus crew that should be getting bonus aren't just like every other event this month.
So... the bonuses, again, are not right. And the game is running incredibly slow. How is the above going to address either of those issues? Because they don't seem to be related.
sounds to me like db needs more staff, to make things happen properly. but i recall u let a bumch go, oh well, i do like the idea of running past events event other week and a new event in between, that gives you two whole weeks to prepare instead of one. also the events need some prize adjustments, the newer population increase is just makeing those rewards more rare to the point of a .ooooooo1 percent distribution. and while we are it. if u shaved a day off the events it wouldnt hurt either, more than half the week is occupied by event duties. we can use a day more down time to prepare, you for the next event and us, to have a breather to upgrade other crew. anyhow thats my two cents for what its worth.
I just wished they would take a week or two off from events, catch up, offer discounts on old packs that are pre power creep, discounts on chronitons, and other ways to make money in the meantime while they work on some needed issues. All wishful thinking on my end
