I Never used macros but can completely understand why some would the game is repetitive and super boring. Tap Tap Tap RNG remember when Devs used to make games that depended on player skill pepperidge farm remembers.
Even ship battles are lame you can’t move or dodge attacks press buttons and even at that you know you’d win or lose depending on your crew v opponent.
Well if the game is too boring or repeating, just stop playing. And for sure its not a reason to justify cheating(by some players and by using macros) on other players, that put energy, time and real „handwork“ into ranking high in a skirmish or expedition event.
And grinding(not matter if it means to tap the same buttons over and over) isn t a skill? Well obviously it is, otherwise some players wouldn t feel the need to use macros against such „unskilled“ grinders.
But some ppl are just too lazy to put real effort and time into an event and are always looking for lame excuses(boring repeating gameplay) to justify their illegal actions they do to overtake legit players, rank higher and gain theirselfs an unfair advantage over all other players that play by the rules and TOS.
Long live the spirit and values of Star Trek.
The best way to prevent bots is to have dynamic game play not easily quantifiable by a computer program.
Grinding isn't a skill. Having the willingness to invest an ever-growing amount of free time is. Personally, I would prefer if my results in events were reflective more of my crew and less about how much I decided to eschew my family for the weekend.
The pop up needs to pop up in random locations. Also, periodically maybe every 300/500 taps there should be a "dead tap" that simply does not work on first press but works correctly the next time and for 490 more.
I had the notice pop up at random a decent amount (being away from game for 2 hours, build 1 formula then trigger) but I actually felt it could have a tiny bit more..
Good start, please follow through and continue your efforts db. I would really like to see
A progressive evolution of this system that is fair and effective
In this context, it is a computer program designed to automate a process, i.e., running ship battles in a skirmish event or building items in a galaxy event.

Isn't that what the game normally does anyway?
They're talking about automating the player's input for fighting a ship battle (skirmish), or building an item (recipe). so basically having something play for you.
