that's a great attitude for a gaming community, or a game that wants players/customers, if you don't like it leave? Done and done;)
As for the bugs, this isn't even the first game of this type, its like a copy of a copy, with a star-trek logo on it, so one would think the bugs would be worked out by now.
you like it cool, more power to you ;p have fun with that, but having legitimate concerns in a game that they expect us to waste our time on is not whining.
why would you play something that you feel isnt good? so yes leave if it's not fun for you.

...Scopely on the other hand....these guys....good lord.
When I recently watched a video of some player basically rage-quitting DB's Walking Dead game while deleting everything he'd built, he mentioned the issues he had with the game, and later, the issues he had with DB, saying something along the lines of, "Man, I thought Scopely was bad! ... well, Scopely IS bad, but that's a story for another time."
I do think it's curiously humorous, however, that both DB and Scopely have/had both ST and TWD games. (Also, I find it interesting that many of the negative responses to ST:Fleet Command are really similar to what the guy in the vid I referenced above said about TWD:MtW — especially the bullying by groups of sociopathic neckbeards and "we will annihilate you just because we can" bits.)

I’m unsure if you’re stretching the “whining” blanket to include the terrible social environment over there or not.
If so, then I have to interject that decrying bullying behaviour is never whining. I mean imagine if you said that a kid coming forth about how he gets bullied, intimidated, or coerced to give up his lunch money everyday was “whining”. Talk about a criminal lack of empathy and a criminal lack of awareness about how negative and detrimental an environment/situation has become that it merits legitimate expression of vocal concerns.
If someone or many people set out with the specific goal to be as antagonizing as possible to other players when there is no legitimate game requirement for them to do so, then the antagonized have every right to voice concern for the healthiness of the social environment and how the prevalence of antagonism affects the quality of gameplay. We all get that pvp will have some level of antagonism, that isn’t the point. The point is when antagonism becomes the sole goal of huge swathes of mega-powered players that the game just becomes a one-sided fight with them as the victors every time.
Like another poster in this thread said: one cannot consider a situation wherein one person is massively overpowered compared to another as pvp. Pvp means both players have a chance to win the fight between them through a combination of resources and skill. STFC has all of its pvp battles automated by an algorithm, there is no application of skill; thus, the player with the mega-powered ship is always going to win, hence it is not actually person-versus-person but rather person-versus-an algorithmic-one-dimensional-representation-of-another-person. If scopely ever wants to even the playing field and make pvp actually more in the essence of pvp, then a way to do that without having to sacrifice their algorithm would be to allow pvp only between ships which are within certain health ranges of one another. Then, skill has a possible role based on which crew you set to man that ship. But pitting a 30k health ship against a 5-10k health ship is in no way pvp. If I’m going to have to face down slews of bullies, then I should have a way to fight back without that being limited to “whoever spends more”. If I can’t have that, then I shouldn’t be forced to face someone that I will never have a chance of winning against.
Add in the mix of the bigger issue, people actively seeking to antagonize others and yeah you get a game full of people who know they can’t be beat doing nothing more than preying on whomever they wish and some of them even singling out specific people just to reinforce that they are “the boss” and “whatever I want goes” and “there’s nothing you can do about it”.
Anyway it’s great that you enjoy the game, I do remember seeing you in general chat in there. But if you are considering people decrying the toxic bully-enabling atmosphere of the game as “whining”, I ask that you have a little more social decency and recognize that all vocal concerns aren’t able to be lumped under a blanket idea of “whining”. Such an attitude is needlessly disrespectful and dismissive of legitimate concerns. People have every right to voice what needs to improve in a game they are giving patronage to, especially when certain aspects of that game drastically affect the quality of gameplay in negative ways.

Its nice of you to try and break it down for him Gaghgagh, but I think it is a waste of time, obviously if he is okay with bullying and can call others who disagree with his point of view whiners, then he is part of the toxic environment aka the problem.

Continually beating up on other, less strong people both verbally and physically will (hopefully) land you a jail sentence in real life. I find it disturbing that it's an integral part of gameplay.

actually i haven't **tsk tsk** about anything other then the split servers. cause i want to play with friends and murder everyone.
they set this up as a game of war. if someone kills you, get some allies and go kill em back.
this game is very similar to Lords Mobile. you kill weaklings in that too. that is the game.
you want em to change it to what you feel it should be is whining....
Nice to see there are some in the world that think “killing weaklings” somehow constitutes fun and worthy of a game. Im glad if one gets bored pulling wings off of flies that there is a distraction for those sociopaths and some company decided that they needed to create yet another thing to keep the sick f***s entertained and away from the normal people. Someone should look up the definition of what whining actually is and stop trying to justify to this forum that antisocial behavior is somehow awesome and something to be enjoyed. I heard there is a gaggle of those kind of thinkers in northern Idaho, take a trip will ya, meet some new friends while the rest of us who actually give a damn about other people continue to focus on helping other players instead of gleefully attempting to annihilate them. Getting off on beating up others, Christ Almighty what is this world coming to.

These games don't have to be played the way you think they must be played. As I mentioned earlier in the thread I play one of these games, Battle Warship, and we have a mostly bullying free server. This is not to say that there aren't bullies there, these types of games attract a less savoury element, but there is an agreement in place between the major alliances on the server that approaches civilisation. Thus attacking other players is restricted to war time and as such to avoid being attacked you just put up a shield then if you have the means (most have the means). This makes PvP more consensual instead of bullying.
Of course, managing this requires a threshold number of paying players who understand that preying on the weak is basically wrong and are willing to police this stance. Some more extreme libertarians would consider that bullying. (But if you're an extreme libertarian and a Star Trek fan you missed something somewhere).
My point is, the argument "don't blame the player, play the game" is hollow because the people make the game what it is.
I am playing, and because of the server split I am in an alliance of 1 so far...! I've just passed ops level 10 so now my ships are generally parked at home. The mining is a PITA but the missions are quite fun, so I plan to carry on in my fleet alliance of one for now.
Having played one similar game in the past (FFXV), the alliance can put a lot of unnecessary pressure on you as an individual, so I'll fly solo for a while. I suspect when I get to ops level 15, and players can attack my starbase, then that's likely to be the point I quit.
I can only speak for myself, of course, but my posts in here are more for the purpose of expressing disappointment that the game is not more in the vein of what I would prefer it to be — and for sharing that opinion with others. But I think it has to be pretty obvious that nobody here thinks that expressing those opinions on the forum for a different game is going to "change anything". I get that it's set itself up as a battle game, one that pits player against player (or more accurately, powerful alliances against everyone else). I just wish it wasn't like that, and many of us are merely stating our opinion that we prefer not to play games like that. (For me, that sort of thing is also not in the spirit of Trek, but ymmv.)
If it's your thing, however, well then more power to you, and I'm glad you found something you enjoy playing. As for me, having steadily lost more and more interest in playing STT over the years, mostly due to reaching a certain level and not finding many things to challenge me any more, I had hopes that Fleet Command might possibly be able to take the place of Timelines as a new enjoyable and engaging time-killer. But it just doesn't happen to fill those needs for me. That's all I'm saying.

Just because a game is a certain thing doesn't mean it can't change and become a better, different thing.
I've enjoyed my 3 days in it, but the most frustrating thing is getting randomly blown away while I'm trying to finish off a quest. Getting occasionally ganked is one thing, but a large enough group could easily camp a system and prevent anything from happening.
This is behavior is only enjoyed by the few doing it and incredibly frustrating for those impacted.
sorry peeps. war games are popular. of course send your request to devs, but you have to play the game as it is, not how you want it.

I have enjoyed STO, though I will set it aside for months at a time to okay other things. The ground combat is really getting outdated (understandable, as it’s eight years old) but I think it is still fun and really appreciate all of the voice talent they have been able to get.

As far as I know, I believe STO only has PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions right now. I do not believe there is a Switch version and feel confident in saying that there is no Android/iOS version.
Well, I do appreciate the critical commentary of the new game. But I only asked "Who Are You In It?" *Some folk just need to vetch*

Back to the original question, I'm not playing this game at all. The moment I saw it was the Kelvin timeline was the moment I was turned off. As far as I'm concerned, any and all events depicted in those films are not canon.
Even if it was the prime universe I doubt I would play. Not if the game allows players to ignore Star Trek's ethos.
sorry peeps. war games are popular. of course send your request to devs, but you have to play the game as it is, not how you want it.
if it doesn't mesh with you its just not a fit for you.
Just because something is "popular" doesn't make it good, I mean look at the Kardashians ...
The ironic thing is my biggest problems with the game isn't even the mentality, I can handle bullies, Ive played Sparta, vikings and a host of other pvp type games, which is why I find it amusing that you assume I am whiner because I'm afraid of some pixels on a screen?
The real issues with the game is its just not very good, or even creative, its just a water-downed model of so many other builder/war-games.
People also insinuate or out right accuse timelines of being pay to win, and maybe to some degree it can be considered that, but fleet command is not just pay to win, its pay to play, because unless you drop cash you aren't getting anywhere. Its completely based on Micro transaction, so you get to pay for every step of imagined progress.
And you've really yet to address any of the legitimate issues brought up by, Frank and Gaghgagh and a host of others have brought up, other then to call people whiners? not exactly an educated or very sophisticated argument.
That being said, if you like the game, I'm happy for you, but if you wonder why you get push back, you might wanna check your approach;)
The funny thing is, was I only asked who you are in the new game. NOT about your opinion. But most if not all could not use such a question to overide an "ID" responce. So sad that
i will most definitely and always call frank a whiner. i have met the whiner in person and he loves to whine.
but you other whiners. the game did a global launch 2 days ago. yes there was betas. yes they have been treated bad. but does anyone remember timelines launch? same **tsk tsk**, different game.
Kelvin trek is war. if ya don't like Kelvin, why would ya play? if ya do like it, its space war. make friends and kill peeps. if it ain't your type of game just dont play. itll just fail and die right?

I’m done with most of this topic, but I am a bit befuddled about something you said. “Kelvin trek is a war”. Is it though? I don’t remember much war happening at all in Kelvin trek. There was tension with the Klingons but no war, and other than Nero, Romulans are pretty scarce in Kelvin trek. So where is there any prevalent war going on in Kelvin trek?

Telling you my user name won't really help you, because once I realized the game model type, after about 10mins or more, I moved on;)
However, I hope you are able to find other people to help you out from here.
I am pretty much done with the convo as well, as it seems rather pointless;) but just another reason why I'm glad to have moved on.
as the other guy insinuated, to each their own, and hope you guys do have fun. thou I do think someone needs to look up the word whiner in the dictionary.. or broaden their vocabulary;)

I've enjoyed my 3 days in it, but the most frustrating thing is getting randomly blown away while I'm trying to finish off a quest. Getting occasionally ganked is one thing, but a large enough group could easily camp a system and prevent anything from happening.
This is behavior is only enjoyed by the few doing it and incredibly frustrating for those impacted.
if it doesn't mesh with you its just not a fit for you.

I have enjoyed STO, though I will set it aside for months at a time to okay other things. The ground combat is really getting outdated (understandable, as it’s eight years old) but I think it is still fun and really appreciate all of the voice talent they have been able to get.
I got a copy of Game of the Galaxies from a thrift shop eight years ago and we must have been missing instructions or pieces because we could not figure it out...it wasn’t terribly fun.
As far as I know, I believe STO only has PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions right now. I do not believe there is a Switch version and feel confident in saying that there is no Android/iOS version.
Haha — well, that's the Star Trek Timelines forum denizens for ya. We love to go off-topic, which no doubt often elicits a reaction from the OP along the lines of...
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Even if it was the prime universe I doubt I would play. Not if the game allows players to ignore Star Trek's ethos.
That being said, if you like the game, I'm happy for you, but if you wonder why you get push back, you might wanna check your approach;)
but you other whiners. the game did a global launch 2 days ago. yes there was betas. yes they have been treated bad. but does anyone remember timelines launch? same **tsk tsk**, different game.

Its a forum, people are going to state their opinions, whether you ask for them or not, it is the nature of the beast. I was simply responding to what had already been said, not what was originally asked.
Frank.
Shock, I know.
Also I'm a proud member of...The 10 Forward Loungers. Not here, there. But over there, they are Admiraled by....a member of SSR...?
I'm confused.
Well we are definitely in different JJ verses then.
They could have built the multi-verse into the story...!
