    Found what is problem. Ignore.
  • Moin ,I can read and understand reasonably english, but I always flew over it and had other preorities that were more important. Do I understand this correctly that it is a tool that clears crew that you do not need or have twice? Or what does that mean?I'm really neugirig what that is now eigendlich. I would like to have an exact report where, why, why and what you have from it?
    I thank you

Unfortunately my written German is too much of an embarassment to give you a proper explanation in your own language, but perhaps someone in the German forum would be able to provide you with a native-language explanation if you ask there.

When you enter the crew into the sheet that you have fully finished (or close to it), it will tell you which other crew you still need and which ones you don't, as well as why. It will also tell you whether you have any crew that you can safely freeze or airlock if you are short on space. That is the very short version of what this sheet does.

    Thanks, well spotted. Fixed now!
  • Leshy, thanks for your work. Been using this religiously for months now and has saved me a lot of headaches. I am noticing a problem on 1.8 where the SS tells me to freeze/space Ambassador Fox, then unfreeze him or Commander Chekov for the DIP 3* Base Requirement. Same thing if I have Chekov unfrozen - it tells me to freeze/space him.
  • I'm not sure why this happens, but when unmarked, Ruk is listed as "Need: SEC 4* Base" but when I mark Ruk as "Active," it changes to "Space/Freeze".

    Hey Redbeard and MuadDave.

This is caused by the same issue – the calculation for the actual status does take the 'SKILL x* Base/Max' requirements into account, but the calculation for the remaining requirements does not.

I think it will be best to have it taken into consideration in both. The sheet will then tell you to unfreeze crew that meets those requirements, which may not always be very useful, but you can toggle them off in 'Advanced Settings' as needed.

Thanks for letting me know. Until it is fixed in a next version, if this issue is an annoyance – you can go into 'Advanced Settings' and turn off the related 'SKILL x* Base/Max' requirement(s) as well.
  • Hey there! Possible bug report in version 1.80. I have Prisoner Bones McCoy marked as active, and it displays as "space/freeze"... yet if I mark him as inactive, it says I need him. If I mark him as frozen, it says to unfreeze him... yet when I mark him as active again, it goes back to "space/freeze."

Thanks for the work you do on this awesome tool!

  • I see my last post is a bit of a duplicate... sorry. I do have a question, though.. I know you've explained it, but I'm still a little bit fuzzy on the meanings of SEC Base vs SEC Max. Can you tell me if I've got this right... (using SEC as an example)

Basically, the base score is the *minimum* skill score, meaning that char is guaranteed to pass a node if they're at max level? And the Max score is the best possible roll, meaning that char is guaranteed to at least have a *chance* to pass a node if they're at max level?

And if I am right in the above statement... then let's say I have the "Number of Crew" set to 6. Does that mean that the top 6 crew members for SEC Base *and* and the top 6 crew members for SEC Max would be marked to Keep? Which could theoretically mean keeping more than 6 of the top SEC crew members?

Thanks in advance for explaining something I'm sure you've already explained a million times. :)

Hi, no worries. I see you are indeed mixing up a few things.

The sheet checks for all skills who the 3*, 4*, and 5* crew are that have the highest base value, and highest maximum roll. Those crew are listed as, for example, SEC 3* Base, or DIP 5* Max. You will want to collect these crew for things like shuttles and voyages. When you have three crew who have the the same 'Base' requirement, it is considered fulfilled and switches off. For the 'Max' skills, it is two crew.

The sheet also checks your active crew to see who have the highest base and maximum values for each skill, and suggests that you keep those. These are the 'Best MED Base' or 'Best ENG Max' skills that you will see show up, and this is what the 'Number of crew' setting affects. If you set it to 6, it will look at your best 6 crew for each of the base and maximum values for all skills, and give them the 'Best skill' requirement, so that it does not suggest you to airlock them.

    Example
Ba'ku Worf has both SEC 4* Base and SEC 4* Max, as he is a 4* crew with some of the highest base values and maximum rolls for Security. The sheet is essentially saying "You should get Ba'ku Worf, because he is really good at Security, for a 4* crew member". If you get Ba'ku Worf, Warship Yar, and Ruk, who all have SEC 4* Base, the sheet will say "Okay, you have enough 4* crew with high base Security now. I'll disable the SEC 4* Base requirement on all other crew."

Now imagine that you do not have Ba'ku Worf, but you do have Civil War Worf (4*), as well as Kortar (5*) and T'Kuvma (5*). You've completed all missions that Civil War Worf can do and he is not one of the 4* crew with the highest Security skill, so the sheet would normally tell you that you can safely airlock him. However, he is your 3rd best guy for base Security skill, so maybe you'll want to hang on to him. If you have that 'Number of crew' setting to 3 or higher, the sheet will say "Okay, Civil War Worf is among your best [3] crew for base Security, so keep him." If you turn that setting down to 2 or lower, the sheet will say "Hey, Civil War Worf is not among your top [2] guys for base Security and he has no missions left to complete, so go ahead and ditch him."

    Hope this clarifies a bit.
  • Okay! So BEST base and max are specifically out of the crew you *have*... while the others are just telling you who out there has the absolute best and max in the game, whether you have them or not. I think I got it now - and that is why you gave the ability to turn off those ratings for specific star levels, because once I have a bunch of 5 stars, I don't really need to care who the best SEC 3 star char out there is. But I assume then that if I do happen to have a good 3 star char in my roster that still sits in my top 5 (or however many I set) crew in that skill, it will still display as BEST, even if I've turned off skill notices for 3 stars in the pull-downs above?

    Thanks!

    You got it!

Thanks so much for all the hard work, Leshy!

I have a bit of a noob question... Is there a way to update/import the selections made from an older version to a newer one? Or is it necessary to manually input the data every time?
  • LeshyLeshy ✭✭✭
    Manual input.

However, if you sort the Crew Members tab by 'Version' in both the old and new sheet, you can copy/paste your data into the new one, as it will place the newly added crew all the way at the bottom.

And since the last version, you can also copy/paste all the mission completion statuses in one go.

It should minimise the amount of work in moving everything over as much as possible.
  • Hi, thanks for accepting my patch.

I was playing with the new version and noticed that you missed applying it to the first 79 lines of the sheet, :-)

I’m liking what you’ve done to the new version, especially the work involved in maintaining info on why to keep, good job, once the kinks have been worked out :)
  • dext74dext74 ✭✭✭✭✭
LOVE the new version updates with Active displaying the reason to keep - this is hugely beneficial to determine which crew to FF so they can complete their task and head to the freezer.
  • LeshyLeshy ✭✭✭
Version 1.81 is now in the OP. It adds the newest crew, and the issue with the contradicting requirements for Active and Frozen crew should now be fixed.

It was a bit more tricky than expected - if there's any odd behaviour that I missed with my own smaller crew, please do let me know and share an example :)

Also fixed - not quite sure what happened there!

  • Hi leshy, thanks once more for a new list and those updates :)

I have one more suggestion or maybe that exist but I didn't find it...is it a way to count how many crew members you have in sheet? Most of the time I need to compare number in sheet with number in game to be sure I didn't miss to add somebody, fastest way to do it for me is to copy Active column in to notepad++ and then search x character and get number of hits. Can you add cell "number of crew" or something like that? :)
  • dext74dext74 ✭✭✭✭✭
I thought I'd offer this tip for anyone using the sheet - I always would compare against the sheet on any pack pulls but when I would just mark an "x" in the sheet, it wouldn't do much to tell me number of stars or level. I've started listing my crew at #.# where the first number is the number of stars (with "F" being fully fused and numbers down from there) and the second number is the level so I can look at which crew I need to focus on to free up space. It's been super helpful in managing characters and decisions. For an example:

    Klingon Quark 3.50.
    Captain Proton Paris 3.63.
    Rura Penthe Reed 3.70.
    Liaison Torres 3.81.
    Stranded Odo 3.82.
    T'Kuvma 4.F
    Klingon O'Brien F.01
    Commander Scott F.01
    Festive Jadzia Dax F.06
    Dr. Carol Marcus F.10
    Rifle Janeway F.10
    Senator Cretak F.20.
  • Hey, so I'm a bit new to this - So I can potentially use the data screen to easily filter out good 4* characters to max? (besides the obvious legendaries i am already going for)

Filter? No. Search? Yes. Use "4* Base" or "4* Max" without quotes.

Well that data screen looks like it's showing the top 4 characters in each stat - so for example Robin Hood is a pretty good 4* character for me I haven't leveled yet.
  • That need a sorting by crew quality.
  • Question: is there a setting that disables all the " need" - "gauntlet" messages in the crew list?
I'm not interested in special crew for the gauntlet, I would only like to see what crew I really "need".
  • @Darth Grandpa - I don't think there's an option to disable Gauntlet stuff, but you could see if there are crew that are listed only for gauntlet and highlight in red or something.

There is now - see the 1.82 version in the OP.

I have added some toggles to the Advanced Settings sheet to disable cadet challenge, advanced cadet challenge, and gauntlet requirements. If any of these do not interest you, you should now be able to turn them off.
  • Thanks for the added toggles!

just discovered this - thanks leshy!
  • This is the one tool that I keep coming back to. Thank you.

Is there an easy way to keep my copy up to date? Or do I just have to copy the new version every so often and copy the data across. If that is the case then I was thinking of coming up with some lookup formula to transfer the data from the old copy to the new copy.
