Ok, so I haven’t been to this thread in a while so I’ve missed some things obviously and there’s just SO much material to read through and I’m busy like every other human being, so I was hoping someone could summarize for me what’s happened?
I know the format and people doing the Big Book have changed but that’s it. Who is it now? Why is it in this annoying spreadsheet format now? (No offense to spreadsheet lovers) Is the BBoBA still being updated with new crew and revisions of older crew? I’m asking because this is a resource I’ve come to rely on and rather like. Any help?
The short version - the maintainer of the doc version is done with the project (and the game I think) and the people picking up the torch can maintain the resource much easier as a spreadsheet.

I suppose I have to answer a fleetmate, eh?
Khan is correct, the architect of the BBoBA, @Automaton_2000 , has retired from the game and from actively participating in the Book. In his stead, the remainder of us (including me, as I have returned to the game, and thank ALL of you for the well-wishes in my absence) will carry on updating new crew and adjusting ranks as we've always done. Riker Odan was just added today, and we will always do our best to have new crew evaluated and profiled as close to their release as we can manage.
Regarding the format, the spreadsheet and all the automation was done to make updating stats, rankings, and event counts (and as a result, our lives) significantly easier (all thanks to the tireless, unpaid work of the inimitable Captain Idol, who I can't seem to tag). There were tradeoffs (RIP YouTube links and rich text formatting), but streamlining the process was vital to the continued life of the project, because merely maintaining current stat ranks takes an inordinate amount of time when done manually. I had to take some time to get used to it myself, but considering all we gained from the switch, it was a small price to pay, and I hope you continue to get value out of it for as long as we continue cranking out content.

It's currently being run by StarsAndGarters and BigLargeMcHuge with myself and PlainSimpleGarak providing insight and of course me running all the sheets and backend data. Stars and Big have been working alongside Auto providing writeups and tiering advice for a long time now so the Book is in experienced hands.
It's an annoying spreadsheet as that allows us to update it easier and keep the statistics current. So when you see that someone is the #5 base SCI, for example, that's an exact reading and not something that needs to be updated. It also allows other websites such as Datacore and Doro to get updates from cell locations via easy import scripts. And it's faster loading to boot.
If you don't like the look of the spreadsheet please check out http://stt.doroexplo.com/ which pulls information straight from the sheet. However it's not updated as quickly as the Big Book but is good for getting crew comparisons quickly.
Edit: I didn't realize Big had already posted but yeh, what he said.
The Big Book just broke, Google Sheets just failed to do any imports so bear with me for a while whilst I fix this. If it's not done by tonight any updates I'll ping in here.
So I'm probably going to have to rebuild part of the backend of the Big Book as for some reason Sheets has decided it's not going to import properly from one sheet I use. That will take a little while but I hope to start that tonight.
In the mean time I've temporarily added in the latest crew manually at the top of the page so you can keep updated.
Doing some digging it appears other people got the same alert I did, but it doesn't appear to actually be working yet. (Or if it is, I can't find someone who has figured it out.)

Interesting, I'll be very interested to know if these links will parse across an importrange or filter formula.
you guys might be working on it, but the commentary is completely off when linked to the crew ... e.g. when I open the BB I see this in the commentary alongside Orion Vina ...
"Two 1k bases never performed so badly. Even if another Borg mega was guaranteed, you shouldn't invest five stars of behold capital for a crew who offers nothing day to day. A Borg faction and mini-mega early in 2019 should have piqued some interest in their future, but as a to-date performer, One simply falls flat. If you select him because of his wonderful character and episode, cross your fingers for more Borg event action."
It looks like the skill rank format changed? I have a little program I wrote that imports stuff from the sheet; I took a break from it for a couple of weeks so I don't know when exactly it changed, but it used to have the skill name and the rank, now it's just a number. What does that number mean? (I'm not going to ask you to change it back, just want to know what it is now.)
(Also - thank you guys for spending the time and effort on this!)

To my knowledge, the formatting hasn't changed recently. I assume you're referring to the spreadsheet in the OP and not one of the other websites that host BB content?
Correct, I'm using the one from google docs. A CSV export of the Super Rare's sheet I'd saved to code against - from May 26th - has Assimilated Troi with a skill rank value of "MED #13". The one I exported today has a skill rank value of "#14" - no Med. She has 3 skills listed, so I don't know how to associate the number with any individual skill.
As the Big Book has been taken down in protest of the offer wall, we're working on making a shareable version of the eXo BeGold Guide for players in its absence. It's something we developed in fleet for use with our bot, but putting it into a list format was probably long overdue. It's a WIP currently, but we have our tiers up. We're adding the bot snapshots and commentary throughout the day, as we can.
Good news! The Big Book Of Behold Advice is now returning in full and will be keeping up to date with the latest crew. Updates for backlogged crew shall be happening soon and re-tiering older crews will continue.
I’m not sure why but the Big Book freezes when I try to open it now and crashes Sheets for me every time
Hello, we're talking between two different threads. I've removed a couple of hidden pages and the Highlights/Data section. Can you check and see if its improved?
I've been playing for a while now but I'm not one for taking the time to look things up. Maybe I'm just a old fart and out of data. But many thanks to you for your hard work and sharing your efforts with whomever. I thank you!

Good morning. At some point today I'll be doing a complete overhaul so some of the data will be funky whilst I change up the sheet to work a bit more efficiently (all tested on another sheet so hopefully should be one big Copy+Paste). This will effect The Big Book and DahjBot on Discord. Will edit this post when it's all done.
