To be honest I am not sure top 25 is even attainable anymore for anyone but whales who or purchasing large numbers of chrons or people who stock chrons for months. Top 75 is possible if you are willing to spend like 20k chrons or 25k but it isnt worth it.

I was top 5 in the most recent Faction/Galaxy hybrid, even after forgetting to pick up transmissions in advance and doing a fairly poor kickstart! No money/dilithium spent (as usual), no event packs bought (saving my monthly card dil for the 390dil packs), got through about 22K Chrons (and a bunch of prefarmed items from last month's Skirmish). 22K Chrons take about three weeks to accrue without any spends, for me; I'm just over 1K/day from Voyages/dailies.

I don't stock Chrons for "months", but I do let them build up ready for any Skirmish. With the Mega schedule announced in advance, it makes it easy to plan how many I can use.
  • I had a feeling that was the case. I suppose greed is a factor here since I started to rank in the top 1500s in the last month and wanted to see how far I could take it. If I really wanted to FF La Forge as soon as possible I suppose the most effective route would be buying a bunch of packs from the next event.

Congrats on your top 5 finish. You picked a good event to go all in on. The numbers for that event seemed to be weirdly lower than usual events. You say that in addition to the 22k chrons you also prefarmed a bunch of items. How much is a bunch if you don't mind me asking?
    Let’s fly!

Ah, well, yes, let's see... I had dozens of some items, hundreds of others, and thousands of some others. But none over 32,767, bizarrely! :p

Sorry, I didn't screenshot the recipes at the start to see how many I had of each item. I just had whatever leftovers there were from previous Galaxies, plus whatever I got from Skirmish Intel space battles. That's all.

The top 5 needed 3.3M VP, which seems about right for two days of Faction and two days of Galaxy..? What was the last one like? I was top 10 in the Galaxy with the Assimilated Hawk prize, and four days of Galaxy needed 3.7M VP for the top 10. That was about 20K Chrons for me - and I mostly spend my Chrons on Skirmishes, not Galaxies! If I went for Galaxies instead of Skirmishes, I'm sure I could consistently be in the top 25 (~15K Chrons, twice a month! Edit: actually, maybe not "sure", because an odd recipe combo could trip me up! But mostly), but I'd much rather have the ~50K Honor from a four-day Skirmish.

There are also some tactics that can be used during Galaxies to maximize efficiency, which I'm sure help a bit. But I think it's mainly simple preparation. Make the most of Skirmishes. Oh, and I write notes in my notepad sometimes, too! With a pencil! :D Seriously, I don't think I'd have done so well without taking five minutes to jot some things down!

I've won 2 galaxy events and I can tell you it is all about saving chrons up for months (either by literally just saving the chrons or pre-farming common items). Play the gauntlet, compete hard in skirmishes, do your dailies and ad warp them, run voyages every day, thats the whole trick. It's not about spending money, $9.99 for 1,000 chrons might help you place in the top 1,500, but even $100 worth of chrons barely puts a dent in what you need to actually win or top 5 a galaxy event.

For anyone who has ranked in the top 20 (which is where you star getting multiple copies of the reward character) I'm curious how many chrons you guys spent. I banked up 6k and unleashed my full payload at the start of the event. I'm floating in the 20-30 range right now and am not sure if I want to keep chasing it or start finishing off my event characters.

The top 20 will also have massive amounts of rare rewards to turn in at the end. If you're going for that, you're probably better off Fe your crew now to earn more rare rewards on all the recipes you'll build. The extra rares are more than worth cost to level your crew.

if DB were to make a full body version of this guy Tholian - would that count as a "DB Original"?
  • Why no chroniton bonus for phase 2 of the event?

Going to send Recovering Spock to talk to the whales?
  • Why no chroniton bonus for phase 2 of the event?

    Never mind.

Didn’t realize that they offered it after phase two started.
  • Banked up about 6k or so chroniton for this event and then held back to save up for the skirmish. Currently around 900 or so within the laour st hours of the event. With some chroniton on reserve in case it looks like I"m going to dip out of the 1500 range.

I post this not as a brag but documenting my results for any F2P or occasional spender. Bank up before the event with cadets, voyages, thrice a day C boosts and other goodies and unleash your payload on the first day with supply kit. Bank up again for the next event, occasionally dipping into the reserve to keep your rank at the desired goal.

It has made these events a lot of easier and there's less worry during the event itself. You could bank up again your initial blast and then do it again within the final hours. What doesn't work is piecemeal attempts for maintaining your rank since if you concentrate your chroniton spending, you can time it around a supply kit for greater efficiency.

Best of luck to everyone in the final hours of the event. Congrats @Paladin 27 for the 13 million score. I had to double take to make sure I read that correctly.

  • Got rank 1330. Learned a lot from this event. Had another 1k chrons saved up from voyages and am working towards the skirmish. The resource management part of this game is like an interesting game within a game here.

This is a point I've stated often - the game is about resource management in pursuit of goals. Assessing your own situation accurately and overcoming the periodic choke-points of the game is a key to long-term success. You can't have it all right away - but with patience, most goals can be achieved. Good luck, and congrats on earning La Forge.
