Kahless is such a boss he just shrugs off crits from pretenders like Tain!

It should be noted though that average is less than 1 a month or circa 1.4 legendaries per month if we are are taking the 7 in the last 5 months - they are also restrictive to only 4 different legendaries. Now if you compare that to voyages (if hitting 8 hr mark) then you'd be gaining circa 800-1000 honor per voyage on average which contribute greatly to either a citation, Legendary pull, or honor exclusive crew.

Your voyages also secure your ability to level and compete in events on a regular basis. If there are already 2 galaxy or hybrid with galaxy phase within a month then those voyages are contributing to at least earning 2 legendaries per month not to mention power levelling them.

I think it's a bit of a fruitless task to compare which one is better because gauntlet provides something exclusive, but Voyages provide an air of exclusivity as well, and it has always been a priority for me because it has secured the right crew either obtaining them through events or voyages and thus be able to compete competently in gauntlet in the first place.
The update for gauntlet was in the beginning of February so it has been a little less than four months. I got another Armus today so that is 8 in less than four months which averages a little more than 2 a month. I think 800-1000 honor on average for voyages is too high even if you count the crew you get and airlock for honor. I do not think even my 10 hr voyages average that high. But it is a good point that voyages give honor and that honor can be used to get citations for legendary crew. Both are good and I enjoy both. For me gauntlets have helped more than voyages because the gauntlet legendaries I earned in gauntlet are so helpful in my gauntlets and voyages. My voyages only do so well because of the addition of these gauntlet legendaries whereas the voyages have not increased my gauntlets.

Ok stand corrected could have sworn it was January, so that bring's you up to 8 in 4 months so we are on par on what voyages provide in events. I could throw in my statistic of 7 in 4 months to muddy the water and there will be others high and dry or have had double what we have had already.

I would say for 8 hours 800 is a reliable average 1000 probably pushing it as an average but it does depend how lucky you get with random purple drops. But my current 8hr voyage is bang on the dot with 826 currently.

In regards to gauntlets helping more than voyages I'd disagree, I think you are dismissing your entire journey into getting good at gauntlets to begin with. Without voyages the levelling process would be far more slower also and not all Gauntleteers are key to having improved voyage performances there are plenty of other options out there.

But also what would you do after 4 ff/fe and a 1x 1/5 FE caretakers et al, you've got more than enough to use for voyages and enough to fill every slot in a gauntlet, there is an edge of finality to gauntlet even if they do release a new legendary, by that time you will no doubt be tossing some out for honor.

The answer, of course, is to buy one now and save up for the other so you don't have to ask yourself this question again :) Then it's "just" a question of who to cite up!

I said earlier in this thread that I don't bother using Enabran Tain because his CMD roll minimum is so low it makes that risky and his other skill rolls are mediocre. I didn't realize that Kahless' CMD and DIP rolls were so similar to Tain's. He does have a strong SEC proficiency, of course, and a 65% Gauntlet (and I think at least one 45%), so he's still a considerable improvement over Tain. But given the cost, he's even less appealing to me now.

Go for Kahless. He wins Klingon Gauntlets which for whatever reason are quite plentiful. Beverly Picard is useful for one voyage combo which happens 1 in 10 voyages and for gauntlet she doesn't pick up crit very often so falls flat compared to the Phloxes/Guinans/Antaaks. You'll never regret Kahless trust me.

Some really interesting points in this thread 👍

I don't have either. I did play very hard in the event for Reverend Phlox because I figured that the honor I saved not buying Crusher could be used to cite him (and I have immortalised him and use him on the majority of my voyages)
Ive always wanted to buy Kahless but I always seem to find a citation that's more important. I prefer saving honor now and focusing on those crew that will help with voyages.
In saying that though, I love playing gauntlet, and I have at least one copy of all the gauntlet crew. I do worry that unless I cited him though, Kahless would be (like me Keeper) rather useless for anything except gauntlet! 300k is a lot of honor to spend, and I don't love him, so I've hesitated for many months!

To kind of piggyback on the philosophy of Human Growth Hormone Apollo and add a personal testimonial to this, before I acquired and leveled Kahless, I had won but a single copy of The Caretaker. Since acquiring and leveling Kahless, I have won a second Caretaker, 2 Armuses, and yesterday I won Gauntlet Guinan.

My 100,000 Honor investment in my own ability to have fun has been rewarded with an additional four legendary crew wins that have further enhanced my fun. Is Kahless alone responsible for these results? Almost assuredly not, but he absolutely made significant contributions each time given his ability to swat away Gunshow Picard with ease (unless GSP has the 45% crit) under normal circumstances, go toe-to-toe with other Gauntlet beasts on split skill challenges (like for example, matching up well against Mirror Phlox in a Command/Medicine round) without getting automatically steamrolled, and has been mentioned before, he frequently gets 45% and 65% Gauntlets and in those he is absolutely an MVP.

From a strictly optimized game theory perspective, I can absolutely see why NOT buying Kahless makes sense. But from a games are meant to be fun human perspective, Kahless is absolutely a tremendous purchase, because he allows you to have more fun than you would have without him.
