How good has a second copy of a 4/4 to be?

I have an extra 2* Data from my first weeks of play when I didn't realize how my crew needs would change with time. I have 2 other duplicates I don't know about so they must be accidents but my immortalized number and chrio-stasis number suggest they must be there. I have considered duplicates several times, but have always had more than enough to do so I toss them out the airlock. However, I have so few 4* crew remaining, that I am planning to keep a double of Paris and Worf after this week. They are good enough on their own merits and frequently used in events.

Also worth considering because of extra rental shuttles. Great to have duplicate strong event crew to have reliable overnight rental shuttles during faction events.

For me the question is what crew are worth spending the resources on. Until I complete all my super-rares, especially the ones needed for collections, there is little worth levelling up a duplicate, unless it is needed for a shuttle event. I have about 40 super-rares to level up for collections, many of these are not FF but still take priority over duplicate super-rares

My voyages normally go out with 10-12 seats filled with legendaries. Shuttles tend to have a mixture of super-rare and legendaries, and additional copies of super-rares will have little affect. I was considering a second copy of rom for his eng, but then Tolar came along.

I have a second Augment Riker, this was an accident, I levelled the second copy to 4/4 lvl 80 before I found that I already had a FF/FE sat in the freezer. I finished the second copy just because he was nearly there, and needed in an event.

I have a 5/5 and a 1/5 FE Killys, this was deliberate, and they prove excellent for skirmishes and other ship battles.

I have a 4/4 lvl 1, coffee Janeway, but she is really waiting for a 1/4 Frog Paris to mate with.

I have several other 4/4 crew sat at lvl 1, that I might want more copies of, or for something to do once I finish my super-rares. These include Young Khan, Drone Seven, Thot Gor, and a few other voyage crew.

I will be keeping 4/4 Paris from this event, my FF/FE is one of my few super-rares that occasional makes voyages.

    Do duplicates count for Collections?

    I don't think they do.

  • No for collections.
    Yes for immortalization total.

Okay, thanks. In that case then I don't think I'd ever immortalize a duplicate. I'd rather work on new crew.

and this ended a few months ago, please DB, consider marking crew properly, so we can make wise choices, and not to be running back and forth from freezer to dismissed, checking. and some players( their/mine fault/choice) have more than one account, so remembering having one, froze one, keeping a copy) is...
darn complicated work (like playing mobile and keeping a paper notebook of things u have digitalized form of)

I have a few dupe 4* because of good stats, availability, boredom or some combination thereof:
    2x Tieran Possessed Kes
    2x 1701 Jadzia
    2x Armed Philippa Georgiou
    2x Combat Medic Paris
    2x Section 31 Philippa Georgiou
    3x Mirror Jadzia
    3x Robin Hood
    3x Victorian Pulaski
Working on 2nd copies of Mintakan Troi, Mirror Phlox, Thot Gor, Jannar. I have no crew space issues so they all become just little side projects, usually reserved for post-event Mondays and boring Tuesdays.

I have quite a few duplicate 4* crew, up to about 60. I always airlocked duplicate crew until I got to the point that I had no crew left to level, and had sufficient space in my crew quarters (240). I will never level duplicate 1-3* crew just for the help with achievements.

There are mainly 2 types of 4* crew I tend to duplicate:

    1) Faction event crew - either duplicate crew who were featured as threshold rewards in re-runs, or duplicate crew featured as the ranked reward who I got copies of from event pack purchases and could use then immortalize after the event. A good example of this is Gorn Captain #2 - while chasing the last star for Young T'Pau and hopefully extra copies of Dr. Pollard, I got 3 duplicate copies of Gorn Captain. I FE him since he was useful during this past event at 3/4, then immortalized him once the event was done (now he and his twin are both frozen).

    2) Good 4* crew who would be useful on shuttles, voyages or future events - acquired via portal pulls and voyages, I keep them hanging around until they become FF, then level them up (often slowly, as daily tasks between events) to use or freeze (and freely airlock without concern if I ever need extra crew slots).

I had no desire to start collecting a significant number of duplicate 4* crew, and cringe at the thought of how much honor they represent (60 immortalized duplicate 4* crew = 48,000 honor). However, most of them proved to be quite useful during particular events, even if they aren't overly useful to me generally speaking.
