And Dr. Pollard is funny with her acerbic wit on Discovery. Yikes though, now we are going to have to hear the whingeing on of the haters who claim to like star trek but hate a huge swath of it.
Still going to be a great event though. Thanks DB!
Hehe, and next week, Mr. Snuffleupagus!
Acerbic wit? I honestly can’t remember her saying a single word. Also don’t remember her name being mentioned once. Also also, I wouldn’t call Discovery a “huge swath” or Star Trek

And YASSSSS for Pollard!
Both those are awesome crew additions. I like the animated series characters. And I have been we need Pollard for a while. She is a cool character.
He was my favourite Sesame Street character growing up.
Many of the "Disco haters" hate the JJ movies and TAS as well. They also will likely all hate the new Picard series and claim it also is not canon and why can't Picard be more like he was in TNG? It gets tiresome especially when the complaints are the exact same every time in every post. A few players that insist on being wet blankets and trying to take the enjoyment from everyone else. Dr. Pollard is great in the second season of Discovery and has some funny lines when people are injured in the sick bay and talking with people who have visited them.
SCI: Historian Researcher
ENG: He was voiced by James Doohan
DIP: Cause he's a bird
do we think that ENG is enough to make him (? it?) a jury rigger?
Pollard isn’t my first choice for a new doctor (paging Dr. M’Benga to the lobby) but if she ends up being MED/COM she will be worth going for.
I might join you, unless Dr. Pollard has good stats. My hopes are MED/CMD/SCI.
Can’t argue with that.
I’ll have to take your word for it. I don’t remember her ever saying anything, and I’m not rewatching to find out.
I also can't recall a single line from her, nor do I want to. Discovery is bad and not comparable to the other 5 (or 6 if TAS counts) trek series. It's not a 'claim' to love star trek when you hate Discovery, Discovery is unlike any other trek and isn't for everyone, including me
Life would be boring if everyone liked all the same stuff, I don't understand why STD haters have to be loud about it and try to impact other's views, but at the same time Apollo, don't think for one second that your comment wasn't JUST as intolerant by suggesting that STD haters automatically are some kind of star trek posers?
Well, according to Memory Alpha, Dr. Pollard is a Lieutenant (junior grade), so an inferior officer to Culber who is a Lieutenant Commander. Still, my recollection was of her telling Culber what to do when he was recovering. Maybe that's because he wasn't back on duty yet and still a patient? Either way, I still hope she has some command skill.

I never used the word "posers" but I do find it weird that some people that claim to love a thing are so incessantly vocal about their HATE of a quarter of that thing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I do not know why their opinion has to rain down on us in every single thread about TAS, JJ Trek movies and Discovery. Why because they do not like a thing do they have to try to make sure others do not too? Why do they have to try to make it so we cannot enjoy it? We are here for our love of Star Trek so let us love Star Trek in all its forms.
I do like popcorn. But let's kick it up a notch to kettle corn.
Now, at the risk of fanning the flames, I will say this about the group of Trekkies who don't care for DSC...
It's fine if you hate it, it's fine if you will never watch it, and it's fine if you want to airlock every Discovery character that is added to the game. And mentioning your dislike from time to time when the subject comes up is understandable. Taking every opportunity to chime in and express that aversion almost every time other people express their excitement about it, however, is insulting to those fans.
Case in point: I never cared much for Deep Space 9. Many of the things people have said about Discovery are things I used to say about DS9 — didn't really feel like Trek to me, etc. Last year, I did a binge-watch of the entire series, and gained more appreciation for it — especially for certain characters, who I grew to love. But I still don't care for a lot of it, and tbh, I never really liked Sisko that much (I know a lot of folks do, but he never connected with me). Yet you won't generally find me randomly inserting my opinion about that show when others here are professing their love for it. I not only respect their opinions, but I respect the greater Trek community enough to accept that different people like different things, and that's okay.
Truth be told, while I do enjoy Discovery, I can also empathize with the sentiment that it doesn't always feel terribly Trek-like. And I also will admit that I thought it started out terrible, but slowly got better, getting quite good in season two. Which is not to say that I do not have hopes that it will continue to evolve, and that they'll find a much closer affinity with what I personally want to see from a Star Trek series.
Bottom line: We're never all going to see eye-to-eye on everything, and nobody expects everyone to like the same stuff they do. But while we may not understand another's love of something, that doesn't mean we have to belittle it, or more egregiously, to belittle the person expressing said love. 🖖
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.
