I wonder which Kirk will be the $10 Kirk next week ..... any previews?

    Mirror Kirk is my guess.

The last few $10 offers have been pretty good, we might just get Wrathful Kirk. If we don’t get him, then I would personally prefer Kal-if-fee Kirk even as terrible as he is, being that he’s the only other Kirk I haven’t immortalized (until Laborer Kirk, of course).

Something like Kal-if-fee Kirk. That being said, Kirk is in two weeks, next week should feature someone else.

Except they offered a McCoy this week, so it isn't always set up for the featured crew. So, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

My hope is Wrathful Kirk; both Mirror and Kal-if-fee are terrible cards and aren't worth it.

Wrathful Kirk isn't in the portal yet so I don't think that's going to happen. Most of the time, the card for 10 ranges from under average to terrible from my observation. Sometimes there's a nice one but it's like once a quarter.
  • If we cant have Wrathful then Rura Penthe Kirk and his leet stats would be what i would want to drop

Fugitive Spock and Nexus Guinan weren't in the portal, and they gave them away for free. I don't believe Leland was in the portal when he was in a campaign.

There have been 9 full campaigns total. They included 3 top 5* and a brand new Data who also is a very strong crew. Mix in Protomorphosis Barclay as another strong but not exceptional crew. I don't think you can judge any conclusion yet on what DB does/doesn't do other than DB like to experiment to see what sells.

It's a pretty standard thing for him. But, we have gotten less with soundclips lately. Wonder if his Arena skill will reference RedJack, and be another sledgehammer.......

  • Full 100% tos this week. No Ishka or another from a different series. I guess Laborer Kirk will have a mop like Laborer Spock but instead it would be cool if he had a bucket.

Kirk was sweeping, you know – with a broom, in that episode.

You're talking about purple crew and campaigns, that's comparing apples and oranges. I'm talking about the Tuesday gold card for 10, this one is typically on the weaker side with an occasional solid crew once every x months.

Lt Commander Uhura was last week and she's pretty damn good. Hopefully we haven't used up our quota.

Is this the episode where Kirk is smitten by Edith Keeler? If so, I assume he'll have the romantic trait.

Shouldn’t every non Wrathful Kirk be romantic?

People always say that, but as often as not, Kirk was playing them rather that truly interested. I read once that Picard actually had more liaisons than Kirk.

I don’t know about your point about the portal. But assuming you’re right, it seems that can be something that is true until it’s not. They could change it easily. So here’s hoping for a good card.

However, on your second point, they did offer FO Burnham a few weeks back and she’s one of the best cards in the game.

    So, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Bonus crew/ships:
    • high bonus: event crew and Garth of Izar
    • small bonus: variants of McCoy, Scotty, and crew listed below.

Am I missing something, or is this redundant? Aren't the McCoy and Scotty variants already listed below, or is there a different bonus? (I'm sure it's just for consistency or to make it explicit, but I'm still curious...)

It's fine - the announcement was worded like this intentionally, to please people who like to nitpick.

I think they do it partly for consistency, but also because of Spock. He has variants from Discovery that are not considered TOS. That's not an issue for Scotty or McCoy, but... consistency, as you said.

Clock Scotty. But is he 3:30 or 6:15?

Well, the right hand is a finger shorter, so 6:15.

I had to give you an awesome just for referencing that obscure Jimmy Doohan factoid.

That is, indeed, an obscure bit of trivia. I recognized it immediately, but I had only recently learned it.

It was from friendly fire, wasn't it? IIRC, he caught a burst from a Been Gun. One of the projectiles got that finger......

Picard also had about one hundred more appearances than Kirk. I wonder what the percentages are.

Honored Owosekun was offered and she was not in the portal.
  • They will definitely offer up a Kirk next Tuesday. The past two weeks saw an Uhura and a McCoy offered up 9 days before an event featuring that crewman. I guess Shran is holding his peace on which will be up for grabs, so I guess we'll have to wait and see. Here's hoping it's not one that I already have immortalized ....
That's Captain Tambourine Man to you.

    "Truly Interested":

Kirk: Edith Keeler & Carol Marcus

Picard: Maybe seven or eight? Beverly, of course. Vash, I would say. That department head lady he sexually harassed by interfering with her career because he loved her. His "wife" in "The Inner Light"? Sure there were others.

Kirk was a product of the '60s. America was on the eve of, but not quite at the cusp of, a revolution in sexuality and gender rights. Picard was created in a time when we were supposedly more enlightened. A good example of the '60s mindset is the final episode of TOS. A woman "cannot be a Starship captain". The woman we see who wants to be a Starship captain is portrayed as clearly insane......

I always thought she had to be unbalanced because it wouldn’t be true hundreds of years in the future. She wasn’t qualified so twisted it to mean all women weren’t qualified.

You could also say it was just writers in a hurry because the shows was ending. I doubt they thought each episode would be critiqued decades later.

Or male writers writing in 1969 with no female astronauts, no CEOs of fortune 500 companies, no female generals in the army, and very few female world leaders thought that only men would be captains of starships.

I seem to remember that she was not the only one who said it, though. Others at least (IIRC) said similar things. That her being female was why she could only advance so far.

The sentiment seems to be a standard Starfleet thing......

    From "The Cage":

Pike: "I can't get used to having a woman on the bridge."
Number One: (GLARES IN ANGRY WOMAN ON THE BRIDGE)
Pike: "No offense, Lieutenant. You're... different, of course."
