multiple thing, it isn't just one thing.
basic or common items that cost near 100 crons to get just 1,
excessive amounts for a crew, yet not even a pittance of what we have to pay real money for offered if turned in to honor.
dabo rate is a joke, after 1 or 2 spins value per item plummets drastically,
the constant adding of more or new features, that cause even more bug, yet ignoring the bugs that all ready exist.

DB needs to fire the Ferrengi and higher more Engineers, Rom doesn't count. [FSC] Peace Keepers

For me, it's being told that buying a 10-for-$10 offer and getting zero fusible crew is "working as intended" and that there is intentionally no value in the time portal for longtime players.
My VIP level is off the chart, but that's not really a factor in whether I'm going to keep playing.
This is a game of diminishing returns. The biggest spenders are those who are most punished by making any further purchases. But we've known that all along.
I think the biggest issue is just how exhausting this all is. This isn't a game - it's a weekly leaderboard.
I'm tired of the nonstop events. I'm tired of there being no gameplay outside of those events. I'm tired of the constant push of new crew for those events.
I'm also tired of half-ready features being rolled out and the subsequent stream of bugs we've got to parse through.
And, finally, I'm tired of getting very little value for my money. There will always be a latest and greatest. There will always be a new event (since we haven't had a break in over a year). There will always be some guy without a name or face who got 5 seconds of screentime that can be a legendary character folks will compete for. There will always be FF beholds offered to me with no recourse. I'm just done spending $100 a week for that pleasure.
I dumped my last 50k dil (I had it saved) on the Archer/puffer fish pack today trying to get one Phlox and ended up with about a million purples I don't need and 7 Sovaks. I'm done buying stuff for a while. There's literally no point.
Having a ticket that’s 39-days old and not even acknowledged by DB is very frustrating. Yes, it’s for my f2p account, but they forget I am a consumer and my main account is VIP 14+++.
Regardless of that, 39-days is frankly worrying and given the timescale for tickets seems to be just increasing, it’s quite clear that things are only going to get worse.
Started as an F2P newb, dumped some cash into the maw...have fun, but kinda solo. New players are treated like new kids in the lunch room...the OG players own chat, so I feel excluded...kinda "anti-Trek" tude...The community would make me quit...
New addition to my previous comment: If DB continues to not make the artwork for new crew a top priority (see Klingon O'Brien and recycled art for COP Founder Archer), this will definitely have an impact on my enjoyment of the game, and thus, how much longer I continue playing.
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing. ~ Data, ST:TNG "Haven"
They should add some "Lower Decks" type characters...players could then build their own, untested, crews for voyages and cadet challenges, without the overhead of clearances...

Yeah, it also makes zero sense. Take a comic book. Over 20 pages a month, filled with many many drawings of multiple characters and even scenery. Depending on the artists of course with a consistent quality. How hard (and time consuming, lol) pretty please can these single character drawings be with at least some sort of effort!?

Sometimes I ponder if it is better for developer to target the small # of whales, or if they should target smaller fish. Personally in the long run, much larger audience paying smaller amount is much better than smaller whales paying big amount. But I am probably wrong .....

Marvel Avengers Alliance did well not catering to too many whales and being a lot smaller footprint per user cost for four years, and was only shut down because Disney decided they didn't want to be in the game business but wanted to just licensing things out.
too much grind, too expensive, too much ingame advertising of overpriced packages, little to no chance to get useful rewards from events, too much RNG, no real interaction with the fleet..all I do atm is collecting the rewards that others grind -meh-
in short, the game does not interest me as much as when I started it some 6 months ago
I got no problem paying SOME money, but certainly not 25-50-100 bucks for an ingame picture...and then I need 4-5 of these...
also: getting cheated with regards to not getting dil (monthly dil pack) if I don´t log in every day and go get it...must´ve lost a weeks worth by now easily -frankly, I consider this some sort of fraud
I´m sitting on close to 8k chrons and about 10M credits...that´s how bored I am with the game
I spent like 40 bucks on a virtual tank (FV215 in WoT) because I wanted it badly...and cuz I got another one for free that way...and now I have two new tanks to look at (not playing them since I *is not that good* at higher tiers)
I am inclined to dish out another 100 bucks for the next soon to be removed tank, EVEN if the game suffers terrible issues atm (yeah, pretty stupid, isn´t it...) and getting constantly banned on their forums for speaking the thruth...tsehehe
Having been playing that since closed beta however, I am more likely to put in even more money...must be thousands by now - a thing that DB will never achieve as I highly consider this game P2W
When it just stops being a game and is only about who can spend the most money. I have said it before on here, I am all for DB making truck loads of money but they can still do that without making this a pay to win game. There are lots of ways for DB to make money and still keep the game a fair competition and not destroy the integrity of the game. IMHO
Things that destroy the game:
1.Being able to buy massive amounts of chronotons during a Galaxy or Hybrid Event.
2. being able to use dilithum to speed up shuttle during a Faction event.
Events should be about preparation and not who has the most $$. Spend as much as you like before the event starts, but once it starts, let the best man win not the richest.

Well, if they're catering to whales, they're not going about it very well. I'm one of a few players in game, as I've publicly said a few times, with over 2 million VIP points. You can do the math on how much money that is. I don't need to be reminded.
Most of us in the shamu club know each other and talk regularly. There's a good portion that are also getting annoyed with crap RNG, diminishing returns to spending, and terrible QA. The sentiments I'm sharing here have been echoed by a number of others that I talk to. The very article you quoted said "The company, he said, had assigned an employee to cater just to that whale, to ensure that she was always satisfied with the game and therefore likely to keep coming back." I have never had that kind of treatment from DB, and I don't really know of anyone else who has.
I think what we're seeing is that DB fails at targeting whales and fails at targeting minnows. And that just kind of equals a fail in general.

wow..that’s like US $40,000? you can buy a car.
Eventually they will hit a wall... Personally after playing few TCG or games like this (no offense though) I’d say whales are harder to satisfy in the long run, as they get ‘bored’ easily, esp if there is nothing to consume or to do.
When developer keeps doing this, many other players will feel this. as well.... The newbies or FTP players because they don’t have the resources to compete, they will get frustrated and might just drop the game. Those in the middle (maybe like me) have enuf things to survive, but will eventually feel the pain

Yeah I laughed pretty hard at that. But hey, if this human finds 40,000$ worth of value in the game then more power to that particular human. I've hit my max at 100 bucks. In terms of other games I have played, I way overspent.

Boredom. Star Trek is a connection to my family that started in the 60’s and finding STT was a joy. After a few months, grinding through the same storylines for increasingly expensive equipment was intolerable and I spent my time and money elsewhere. With the introduction of Arena and Fleets I was back. As boredom set in again the other new aspects of the game began plus my Fleet (❤️ Attack of the Crohn’s) and Squad (💚💚💚 Gorn to be Wild) taught me advanced game strategy.
I fight boredom with the game because the stories are pretty static and selections rarely result in game changing outcomes. I love the changing play occurring in Gauntlet and Arena. DB, keep mixing up our playing formats to keep things interesting.

You assume SilverRose is male how interesting
You assume that I care if he is a she or other or black or white or green. How equally as interesting. Honestly, didn't even think about it. Not that it adds anything to the conversation other than you spoutin off knowledge that doesn't amount to a hill of beans to the topic at hand.
There, I've edited my previous comment to point out the things that matter to me. Hope it's more acceptable to your view on society.

Unfortunately many mobile games depend on 'whales' and developers depend on them
You can google and find articles like this one:

It can be done profitably.
1. Got tired/bored of the game.
2. Playing went from fun to feeling like a job or obligation.
3. The game ended.
