What will make you stop playing Star Trek Timeline?

There are always bug and that's normal in 99.99% of apps - so I won't list that in the option.
But there are things in the game that just cause frustration to people and they seem never got addressed even though we have many threads discussing it.

People have different level of tolerance of handling certain things and definitely have different goal of playing this game. Also depending whether you are F2P or VIP players.... So I would like to know what people think and I hope this can be something that DB can use to focus on improving this game.

Also I make it anonymous so hopefully we get more participation without the fear of public judgment :)

Grinding missions for hard to get items! If basic item is hard to get, it shouldn't be basic, yes?

Fabulous gauntlet RNG & algorithm - round selection & crits that benefit defender. haven't got either Locutus or Guinan while others got 2-3 or more

Honor points - Seriously.... 200pts for purple & and 550 for yellow? Faction store sells them for 1500 dil & 15,000 dil. And I don't have the heart to airlock my super rare & legendary crews

Credits frustration - lower the replication cost please?? with cherry on top?

  • I dont really want people to know...but for me its all these things, the game is to expensive, doing tons of missions to not even get an item with a 5/5 drop rate, gauntlet is kinda mean (but okay at the moment), honor values need to be redone dramatically, credits are in to low of a supply to get stuff done so i gotta spend dil (back to the to expensive point), i have been ripped off a few times with event pulls (got 50 dollars in packs and didnt even get the legendary i wanted, but in the other hand i have gotten many legendaries for 1x premium pulls and 1st pull event packs).
  • i started 6 months ago. still going strong, logging in every day. but i think at one point i’ll get bored ... so boredom, staleness for me.
  • I'll get busy doing something productive.. and I'll just forget to play. At the moment I am frustrated with shuttles and the Gauntlet. I enjoy voyages, though I'm not extending them for a few weeks to buy my fourth shuttle so right now they aren't really very exciting or productive.

My voyages are bringing me new 4* crew which rapidly fill up space, very slow to level, but have great potential. I am busy trying to get fully fused 4* crew immortalized and the mega event sent heaps my way so I have a backlog to deal with and new crew every weekend. I cannot sit out of events owing to some obsessive need to compete and do as well as I can even if the rewards are minimal. It's an illness I've had forever. Maybe Timelines can break it for me?
  • None of that is even an even remotely good reason for me.

    I'll leave when I'm bored.
    "Dance with me. For science."
  • This stupid forum posts will !

It's been 11 days since I have been able to log in. On Oct 31 the Customer Support thread was edited, and now it says:

"The current response time is: could be as long as 4 weeks."

    Yep, this might do it.

Yeah, that would be the breaking point for me. I've mercifully dodged any bugs that require a support ticket lately, but last time I had a bug, it took over a week to resolve.

I can't even imagine a month, I feel real bad for you.
  • I am not convinced, at least not at the moment, that Star Trek Timelines is a priority for DB, and that it's getting the attention and the manpower that it deserves. If that doesn't change, it will certainly sap my enthusiasm to play.
  • For me, it's simple: I'll stop when I get bored of it, or when I no longer have sufficient time to devote to it (as in, other things start taking more of my time - which is kinda the same as getting bored of it in a way).

We all know the game isn't perfect, and there are many issues that need to be addressed, but it's just a game at the end of the day; something to do in your spare time. And in that respect, it does the job fine.
  • I'm nowhere near boredom or frustration. But when the game wouldn't run on my Ipad 2 anymore without crashing every few minutes, that would be the time to stop for me.

My sentiments exactly. Some of those "reasons" apply to me, most of them do not. None of the ones that do are strong enough to ruin the whole experience.
  • I voted Other and my answer is simply, "When it stays boring." I've been at a point for awhile now where I'm able to keep up with incoming crew easily. Twice in the last two weeks, I've had at least three days where I had no one remaining to equip or level. During those stretches, it's been painfully obvious to me how little there is to do when not trying to clear the backlog of crew. It was, frankly, boring. I picked up some new crew members eventually, even just some 1* or 2* cadets for the sake of padding my stats, and that at least broke the boredom.

My primary objective these days is participating in events. I do like being part of my squadron and even though the rewards we earn are negligible, it's still neat to work together like that.

The game gets excessively buggy. I don't really have any big bug problems right now.

  • Simply state - all of the above. All of these issues bother me. Some are more tolerable, but the fact that all of these issues still remain - it is evidence to me of the disconnect between DB and the player base.

As with many above, when it becomes overly boring. I play games until they become more of a chore than fun. Doing ok with it for now though.
  • Until once day something new comes out and you kinda have to choose which one to spend your time on

I’m dedicated to the game. I put too much time and money into it to let go. I’m all about events and new event crew. I don’t always care for the event crew but that’s good cuz then I can coast through, get the thresholds, and save my bullets for when there is event crew I seek. Discovery crew had me pushing hard all month long. To me that was a full month of keeping me fully engaged

    Yep, this might do it.

That's strange... I submitted 2 tickets just last week and I got respond within a day for both of them.

For your login problem, maybe you can try use the steam/facebook or other devices to check if it is isolated to your current device or not. (Yes, I am not DB CS  )
  • Thanks Edrehashaivar, I have a thread in the Engineer Room. I started the account on Facebook, but have been playing through Steam, linked to Facebook, since that option was put into place. It just stopped working one day. No Steam, Facebook, or Facebook Gameroom. I "reset" the account on Steam to play a FTP account at level 1, and it works fine. But, when I try to link my VIP account, it pops up an error message at load in screen.

I love the game, I even played that FTP account a week and got my crew back up to level 60's, and lasting long enough to get the 2h dilemma on voyages. But, when trying to switch to Firefox to see if that worked, linking that account to facebook I lost that FTP account, and had to reset to level 1 again. I have not played since.

Just waiting to see what DB does to fix it, and make me a happy customer.

I voted "Other". I tend to get obsessive about certain things, only to get burned out months later, and just walk away. The only difference here is, STT will be tougher for me to do that with, since I've dumped a fair amount of real world coin into this game. To stave off that eventuality, I try to make it a point to "pace myself", as it were, choosing my moments when I want to go all-in, and other times (like the upcoming weekend's event), where I plan on just doing enough to cross a few thresholds, and also qualify for the community reward. Otherwise I know my "fire" will burn very hot and very brightly but will also burn out its fuel too quickly.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Exactly. I have every crew member fully equipped. Right now I’m doing Voyages, gauntlet, collecting daily things, but otherwise I’m stagnant. I don’t keep crew for stats, I go strictly as a fan of characters. My only real focus now is events but if I don’t care for the crew, which I don’t this weekend, I’m just in it for the thresholds. Bring on Amanda Rogers, Michael Burnham, Daniels, Sylvia Gomez, Mirror Mayweather, so I can feel STT alive again!

It'll probably just die out for me over time. I have however decided that I will be highly limiting my spending on this game to just the monthly card for the most part.
Admiral of the Haus of GaghGagh, Starbase level 94, we are not accepting members at this time.
Captain of the voyage vessels: Queen of Bashir, Landsknecht, and Sunspear, the first luxury starship cruiseliners.
Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.
  • I've been playing for a little over a year now and while I have enjoyed the game and new features, it has become stale. Two new types of events are long overdue as well as a new episode at least quarterly. It doesn't have to be a mind blowing storyline, just keep adding to the game. I also think that an every other week event would add anticipation and slow down the staleness that even newer players are experiencing.
  • I can give a real example. Back in March, after five months of daily play, I got bored with the grind, and left until July. An email from DB pulled me back in, and I've been back since then at full speed. The issue that has frustrated me most is bad luck with RNG with faction events. Hasn't been as much of an issue lately, as my crew is now strong and deep enough to run with the bulls. As for the other aspects that frustrate others, I can live with them, and tailor my game around them.
