What will make you stop playing Star Trek Timeline?

  • omg, I miss Oolong.

This is probably the best grass roots thread DB could get. But, we here on the boards are only the toenail in the great giant they cater to. What, 200 votes... and how many participate each week in the 4 day events?
  • Well, I am sadden to say, Today I have stopped playing Timelines. Everyone has a breaking point, and today I reached mine. I wish I could tell you it was one particular reason, that would make it easy, however it's a combination of numerous items, buggy voyages, censors, lack of creativity, poor support...the list goes on. I wish you all The Greatest Success in everything you do, Be Groovy, and long live "The Naked Sulus"! Enjoy!
  • This will be the first event I skip entirely since I started playing.
Maybe the irony is that we play because we’re Star Trek fans, those hopeful idealists that like to think things will get better when we raise valid concerns about fairness and balance, etc and we forget that DB’s greed openly mocks the values espoused by the franchise they have a license for.

    Spouse divorcing me!!!

If this is an option it will get me to play more ;)
  • I love this game. I have been playing, off and on, for years. I would like to see the Dilithium count go up to 15,000 for $99.99. I mean you can blow through Dil in a heartbeat. Well, I can. But as far as things you would do to make me leave the game, you would have to nerf the xp system, and the events. If it's just not fun to play, I won't play. I don't see that happening. Keep up the good work.
  • I loved this game too, well mainly Star Trek.
And same sentiment like the others. The fact that after so many people complain about crew slots, ridiculous RNG, and drop rate etc.. DB still hasn't done anything to address that.

The additional of honor points is good, but that didn't help to offset people that spent money in this game and getting craps. Giving offer with 400% value for $50 and we airlock many of the purple crews and give users little honor values.

Seriously! Something is wrong with the designers of this game. They are totally disconnected with the users.

The one thing that could make be give up on this game is if the art takes a permanent nose dive. Klingon O'Brien was a real disappointment to me. I don't think it will happen, but if that card becomes the new standard I will quickly lose interest.

Other than that, it's a Star Trek collection game and I knew what I signed up for ;-)
  • Yeah I got tired of chuckling every time I’d see him come up during the event. I didn’t airlock him because I don’t have so many fully fused characters that I’m willing to trash a free 4/4 out of principal, but I don’t think goofy comedy was the goal when they released him.

Agree! As if the game designers live in different timeline themselves, and that's why they are not listening to what players in our timeline are saying.

I have been thinking to quit this game myself so many times already mainly due to gauntlet. The bull$h1t algorithm drives me nuts.
  • I was a FTP player (except the one time I bought enough dilithium to expand crew slots) with the SN "Good Tea, Nice House" from about 6 weeks after launch of the game until right before Voyages came out.

I enjoyed the game. The art and graphics for a game meant to be played on a phone are great. The growth of the game was excellent. There was enough to do where it didn't, to me, get stale.

Late in August I grew tired of the game. As a FTP player, I knew I would always be behind the 8 ball and would have to spend more time playing and thinking more about strategy than others. Back in April/May, I was moving up the gauntlet rankings as I was able to pull stronger and stronger players (Phlox, Guinan, Locutus, etc.). I went from consistently finishing below 50, to at one point finishing 4th, and consistently ranking in the top 25 for a couple of months.

Once the hype about Discovery started to amp up, I noticed that I was quickly sliding in the rankings. I noticed the number of 5* pulls was increasing for me, which means that they were increasing for everybody else. Nearly every player in the guantlet had a Guinan or a Phlox. Couple this with all of the game pack discounts and suddenly I couldn't finish in the top 50 at all.

While I don't know what was the root cause of this: whether it was the algorithm being relaxed or more P2P players or both, I quit the game because I felt that many of the new players were getting things that I spent over a year acquiring. I just wasn't worth my time anymore.

    My IPhone Battery :(
  • The support! One month to wait and they don't answer to the right problem. It is worst than ever.

too much grind, too expensive, too much ingame advertising of overpriced packages, little to no chance to get useful rewards from events, too much RNG, no real interaction with the fleet..all I do atm is collecting the rewards that others grind -meh-

in short, the game does not interest me as much as when I started it some 6 months ago
I got no problem paying SOME money, but certainly not 25-50-100 bucks for an ingame picture...and then I need 4-5 of these...

also: getting cheated with regards to not getting dil (monthly dil pack) if I don´t log in every day and go get it...must´ve lost a weeks worth by now easily -frankly, I consider this some sort of fraud

I´m sitting on close to 8k chrons and about 10M credits...that´s how bored I am with the game

I spent like 40 bucks on a virtual tank (FV215 in WoT) because I wanted it badly...and cuz I got another one for free that way...and now I have two new tanks to look at (not playing them since I *is not that good* at higher tiers)
I am inclined to dish out another 100 bucks for the next soon to be removed tank, EVEN if the game suffers terrible issues atm (yeah, pretty stupid, isn´t it...) and getting constantly banned on their forums for speaking the thruth...tsehehe
Having been playing that since closed beta however, I am more likely to put in even more money...must be thousands by now - a thing that DB will never achieve as I highly consider this game P2W

Another long time world of tanks player here. I agree with everything you said. I think that DB could learn a lot from that game.

I hope DB are monitoring EA's monetisation of Star Wars and the backlash from fans and gamers alike on Reddit and decide to ditch Best chance packs and make changes to loot tables
  • I am doubtful they even monitor this thread to begin with.
Sadly... if there is no changes to address this frustration, I am really thinking to quit this game after new year.

It took 24hrs to do a U Turn from pressure from players if only Star Trek fans were as passionate

More like if they voted as hard with their wallets. Or had a general consensus on what is fair and equitable.
  • I have worked hard to acquire and level up crew. Now I have almost a 50% failure rate on shuttle missions even with highest crew and shuttle boosts. Am I competing against those with highest level crew. Very discouraging.

Yeah I'd understand in events but outside of events it's ridiculous send out all slots with immortalised golds get 74% chance of success and comes back as a failure. Sometimes I wonder if F2P have the right way of playing because nearly 500k VIP gives little or no advantage or is that as it was programmed?

I often wonder if other games did that spend more money to get an edge on gameplay to find out your edge is blunt due to RNG how far they'd last. If it wasn't Star Trek and chasing another judge Q for the first ten months I'd have deleted the app after the first €100 spent

Yeah but they also cut credit rewards by 75 percent so the end result is the same. It's like lowering the price of dil but charging 1300 for a pull lol

I understand that frustration. Right this moment, I'm on my third round of shuttle missions (x 4 shuttles each) to get some faction-only items I need. 9 hours of waiting time. out of those 12 shuttles so far, I've only had three that succeeded. 1 out of 4 in each round. Most were within the mid-80% to mid-90% success percentage rate with the exception of a couple that were in the upper 70s. With the crew being nearly all immortalized 4 and 5* crew. And have yet to get one of the factions items I need. That's just not right.

I hate to say it, but I'm getting closer and closer to giving this game up. I play because I love Star Trek, and because I've already invested cash into it. I'd like to get my money's worth. But I don't know how much longer I will go.

I guess I would stop playing if there was nothing left I could do with the game. I used to have a backlog of around 10 ff crew I was working on, but the flood of chronitons from voyages has changed that. I can now fully level and equip a 4* crew in 2-3 days or less, which means that even supposing I get two ff 4* crew from an event (which is the current format of a galaxy) I am still getting them into the vault (usually) before the next event starts.

The current problems for me are
    - Slow rate of honour accrual to buy citations to fuse incomplete crew (I currently have 15 individual 3/4* crew awaiting citations and a similar number of 1/4* or 2/4*). This situation is replicated even more intensely (and hopelessly) with my 38 legendary crew in various stages of incompleteness between 1/5* and 4/5*

    - Lack of crew slots for new 5* event reward crew

Neither of those can currently be remedied without spending vast amounts of money which I am not prepared to do so I can definitely feel myself quickly running out of road with the game in its current format. Very soon I will have no remaining crew that need levelling beyond the crew I gain from events and voyages or the occasional free portal pull and I will have to vault even more of the 4* crew I would rather keep active in order to make space for 1/5* rewards.
