Might the fact that we're getting another Q-focused event mean that the "main storyline" is about to get advanced again? Perhaps a new Episode soon?
I would think we could possibly get a new Romulan and/or Borg episode based off of events from Picard, though I wonder how soon that would release given the air dates for the show itself.

If memory serves, the first Distress Call: Infinity mission was added within days of the premiere of Short Treks. So, hypothetically, the timing of any new in-game content could be fairly close to STP’s release.
As far as this Skirmish is concerned, I sincerely hope that Commander Shelby has better ship abilities/stats than Augment Riker, which ... woof. 🖖

I am hoping for a Picard mega in feb. We had the first Discovery mega while the first season was running.

I’d be downright surprised if February wasn’t an STP mega. I just wasn’t sure about a new chapter to the main storyline, though peregrine makes a great point about the Infinity distress calls.
So was the Professor part of the release of the game or is the next event a rerun/flashback?
The Professor's history is a little unconventional. In 2016, events sometimes gave the player base a choice of three characters to vote on during the event to be added to the game later. We voted for The Professor in the first run of "The Game's Afoot" (15-19 July 2016), and he was added on 16 August 2016. He was subsequently Featured in "The Game's Afoot 2" (12-16 October 2016) as the rank 5*.
Do you remember what the other two choices were?
I'm fuzzy, actually. Worf was one of them, for sure, mentioned in this thread asking who won. I thought the second was Countess Bartholomew, but I turned up this single post thread naming Victorian Picard (and only him) as the vote loser.
I'm curious how they will handle the crew and rewards.
The Professor event had Doctor LaForge as the sole 4*, The Professor as a 5*, and Detective Data as a pack exclusive(after being featured the first time).
The VP rewards were completely out of scale with other events. The last full expedition event had the final 4* at 450k. The last expedition hybrid was the infamous Christmas snafu that had extra rewards for an extra day that they then screwed up.
I don't remember how many VP are even possible given the number of stars. But this feels like a lot of work for DB to try and create a modern event with modern reward structure given the previous expedition events they have. Certainly more work than I would expect for a flashback event.
So I'm left wondering if we're getting an entirely new event featuring The Professor, or if DB has reworked expedition events and we can expect them in the rotation again now.
It is not difficult for even beginner players to reach max threshold ... that is the reason why Expeditions were so nice back in the day ... it is just a long grind, like Skirmish events really, but it doesn't "cost" you anything (chronitons, credits etc.) as you just use your tokens.
For example, I completed all thresholds on Day 1 for Quadritalteral II (April 2017), also 450k VP ... I didn't have time to play the rest of that weekend so stopped there ... and ended up at rank 7.795. As a reference point ... I obtained all threshold rewards this past weekend and stopped and still ended up rank 2.999.
So ... like I mentioned earlier I see the following as a solid option:
- Add Detective Data as the max threshold reward at 600+k VP with the other new rewards between 450k and Data.
This allows DB to re-run events that have multiple 5* crew associated with it without irritating players in that only one of the two is available via the event ... if I had a 1/5 Data and no Professor I'd surely hope I could add stars to Data.
No need to rework anything but the reward tables which is what they do for re-runs anyway.
On a side note ... if The Professor, Doc La Forge and Detective Data are the event crew ... good luck to those who still need to level and equip them ... I'd seriously look up their equipment and where you might find bottlenecks and start pre-farming, as they are some of the most difficult crew to equip in-game ... Section 31 shuttles are a good place to start.

Luckily a recent voyage gifted me an augment Riker. Looks like I'll have to start on him. I'm guessing Riker Q will also be fairly useful for this event, right?

It is skirmish so you just need one event crew and put that person on your ship. Other event and bonus crew not necessary.

Just use Augment Riker in a seat. Even at Level One, he'll give you 2x VXP.........
One Epic run will give you Shelby. If she has better Ship Ability, replace Riker with her............

Not to be a beggar and a chooser, since I've been screaming for Shelby for years, but I was kinda hoping for a more serious pose to reflect the seriousness of "Best of Both Worlds" like this:

Agreed, but maybe they’ll save that for another card for Shelby. After all, people had been wanting Miss Q for a while, and her first card was a SR. Then, less than 6 months later, we got a legendary card for her. I bet something similar will happen with Shelby.
Of course, knowing my luck, she’ll be in a Tuesday pack... 😆
Well, this version of her, yes, but I also hoped for three skills (maybe engineering as third). I hope there's gunna be a 5* Elizabeth Shelby at some point with that more serious posture and definitely better starship and voyage skills.
"Everything about the Jem'Hadar is lethal!" - Eris (ST-DS9 Episode 2x26 "The Jem'Hadar")
Even if she had good stats for a SR, I (and I imagine most others) would have frozen her anyway, because we have enough legends that she really wouldn’t have added much, if anything at all, that our legends don’t already do better.
Personally, the only super rares I keep unfrozen these days are the ones with great ship abilities (Ardra, T’Pol), ones that I use for gauntlet (Mirror Phlox), and ones with rare skill combos I don’t have adequately covered by legends (like the MED/SEC combo of combat medic Paris).
Shelby would never have those unusual combos like MED/ENG or MED/SEC, and it’s doubtful she’ll have the gauntlet abilities of a Nurse Garland or Mirror Phlox. Since it’s a skirmish, it’s at least remotely possible Shelby will have a killer ship ability, but that’s the only reason she might stay unfrozen.
Her utility won’t change whether she’s a two-skiller or a three-skiller, since the majority of us (on this board, anyway) don’t regularly use super rares, especially COM/DIP/SEC ones. Even if her tertiary skill was ENG or something, I can’t imagine that really moving the needle at all.
I’d be much more upset if she got a legendary card and it was a two skiller (unless those two skills had amazing bases. Like, COM at 1600 and DIP/SEC at 1300 or so.)
We’ve been waiting for quite some time for a Shelby card and the artwork is fantastic so thanks DB on that front, but TWO SKILLS!! Really?! And two really boring skills at that; you could have at least thrown in some Eng, Dip, or Sci as a tertiary to make her more exciting. Now she’s basically as bland as most Worfs. Seriously, all the Worf cards, purples at least, run together in my head because they’re all just Com and Sec.
I really hope we’re getting another Shelby card later on, like a gold one; possibly more serious expression and better skill set too.
Weirdly enough, I’m also Vulcan Housewife. Also, RNGesus hates me, like really, REALLY hates me.
