The existing TAS crew demonstrate that Timelines art doesn't need to match screen art. M'Ress should be fine because the TAS design was straightforward, just lacking detail. The question is whether the aesthetics of Lower Decks are too exaggerated for adaptation to the Timelines aesthetic. I'm reminded of DC's Snagglepuss comics. It turns out if you make him look like a real cat, he's... unsettling.

I was hoping to never see that again! DC did well with the Scooby Doo Apocalypse...but Snagglepuss, not so much.

I missed that whole thing. And now, I didn't.....

It doesn't help that the human chauffeur right next to Snagglepuss has the least detail of anyone. This should be the litmus test: Does translating Dr. T'Ana evoke the same kind of reaction as "real"-ized Snagglepuss?
Please NOT. Some more crew from TAS, ok. But please no crew from the „crappy“ new show. I don t like the art style at all.
They did a decent job adapting the animation for characters from TAS (Arex, Away Team Uhura, Thelin, Lucien, Aleek-Om and Bem), I suppose they could do the same for Lower Decks.
This. You can tell that Commodore April looks a little different from most humans (they had plenty of face shots of Uhura to work off of to maintain consistency with non-TAS variants) but the others, particularly Thelin and Lucien, look properly fantastic. I’d be interested to see how the art team can adapt the Lower Decks animation style to what we have here, and I intend to keep an open mind on that until we see crew drop.
Ugh, I know I shouldn’t pour gasoline on the fire, but FFS..
If Picard was the nail in the coffin of classic Trek, this new animated series is basically a drunk Rick Sanchez pissing on the grave.
Doesn't stop you from doing it in every thread that you can - though it's pouring gasoline on your own fire, since you start and promulgate the point. You don't like modern Trek, we get it. Plenty of others do.
"Classic" Trek buried itself. Ratings and box office (and, to a large degree, fan sentiment) were in freefall from the early '90s until the eventual demise of Enterprise and the TNG films. I remember how much hate DS9, Voyager and Enterprise got at the time.
The new stuff doesn't stop anyone from enjoying the old stuff. Some of us can enjoy both. It's petty to begrudge that.

But that has a lot to do with the style of the art and the ability of the artist to make it work, I think. Compare it with Blacksad that also has very detailed art:
The cards would probably look more cartoony, like Ari bn Bem or April, but that doesn't mean they can't look good.
