If this change is going to be better for mini events and other yet to be seen things then Im ok with this change. It is a bit annoying to have to do more clicks to get into the event but its minor.
Can I suggest you put a countdown to the next event start on the main tab and indicators to indicate you have rewards to collect. It can be the yellow circle same as currently ,with the number indicating the number of rewards. Once an event has started you could put a new indictor with a different colour and a number to indicate if there are multiple active events. I think this would bring the area into line with how the other areas currently work.
Waiting until tomorrow to see the info for the next event before further critiques.
I hope Bylo's idea for posting faction shares before the event start is incorporated soon.
At this time the event hub will only show current event, and past events.
Event information for a future event will only be available once said event is announced, this is currently still scheduled for Wednesdays, around noon ET.
IT's **** useless , extra click to get into the event . Clutters the screen ... Coupled with an offer and DYC it takes up a quarter of the left side ...
Mine was yellow, and said "CLAIM" until I collected, when I signed in today. Maybe a glitch it is not showing for everyone? I was at about 80,000 and did not collect anything until Community was finished.
Mine said Claim if it was my threshold rewards not community.
Mine did the same. I would like it to show available rewards to claim for community rewards as well.
And I also like the idea another poster had, I'd like the event hub button to take me straight into the current event. If I'm interested in previous events, I can hit a second button to go into them. But during the competition of an event, the less obstacles the better!
So far Event Hub has meant more clicks to play event and doesn’t actually give us anything additional in terms of functionality.
Colour choice is also underwhelming.
If this functionality has been created based on user research TP must have asked people who don’t actually play the game. *shakes head.
I can but hope that it will all become clearer when/if we have mini events.
But for now it has been a lot of palaver to fix something that wasn’t broken and has actually made game play worse.
The purple button is ugly and looks like something out of a 1994 HTML website that some preschooler thought looked cool and used for a "my first webpage" project. Seriously the thing is hideous and the epitome of "how not to" in terms of style for a button.
The extra clicks are annoying just to get to the current event. I miss the convenience of the way the event button worked before. Right from the main screen, it would alert us that a community reward was available to claim. Right from the main screen it would count down the time before an event or phase change for the current event. So the devs actually removed some useful information from the main screen to give us the "viewing pleasure" of a static, ugly, purple button instead. Bravo, well played sir or madam </sarcasm>
The past event screens are essentially useless as they don't tell us what KIND of event these past events were, and as others have mentioned, we could already see how we ranked in past events through out fleet's starbase, without all the added hassle of the extra clicks the event hub introduces. And we the players STILL have to go to an external website to view a fleet ranking list for each event, so even the one most minor piece of functionality that would be anywhere close to useful wasn't even included in the event hub.
The event-hub is nothing more than the devs introducing a "solution" for a problem that never existed in the first place. Like the line in Jurassic Park says "[they] were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should".
One vote here for worse. I don’t like the extra tapping required to get in there, as someone who pops into the event all day long. For galaxy and skirmish its proving to be a pain.
However, it doesn't say which type of Hybrid Event it was, which might be relevant if there's a noticeable difference in scores depending on which type of event isn't included. It also doesn't mark which ones are part of Megaevents (or Reruns or Flashbacks), which also might be helpful.
While it's great that this potentially improves when they can schedule mini-events (including potentially overlapping with the "normal" weekend event), when's the last time we had a mini-event? If we "regularly" (say, monthly, let alone weekly) had been having a mini-event that started on Monday morning when the weekend event ended and itself ended on Wednesday morning when the event weekend preview event was posted such that the event hub allows some flexibility in scheduling, that's cool/helpful. But we haven't had "normal" mini-events that needed such changes.
If they're going to introduce some sort of permanent event (a la Campaigns), where you can always do some sort of missions (i.e. including on the weekend during the normal weekend event) to aim for rewards, OK, but that's not really a mini-event, so that explanation doesn't seem great, so far.
I am surprised there have been no threats to quit the game because of the big, bad purple button and the tremendous inconvenience of a few extra clicks. I wonder if people have missed appointments, a bus/train/flight, or have been late to work because of it.

Considering there is no back button to the main event window from skirmish window it is kinda of annoying when you want to check where you are whether it be leaderboard or personal thresholds, event history could have been put under achievements in the daily missions menu but the double menu when leaving or entering event is just as annoying as the multiple popups on every login.

Whatever Flotterwit(s) designed and implemented this UI just caused ~60,000 people to have to do two extra taps, several times a day, across four days - say, a very conservative average of 50 times per person (as there's a lot of extra tapping just to check if there are rewards to claim, not to mention trying to drop back out of the event to, say, jump into Gauntlet brings us back to the Event Hub instead of the main screen. Tap.). That's (conservatively) three million extra clicks/taps for this event. And three million for the next, and the one after that...
If we generously take average user tap speed to be five taps per second, then the Event Hub button has just added a 167-hour workload to Timelines customers this weekend. And the next, and the one after that...
And while you're quite correct that it's possible to take an extremely blinkered view and focus on it taking up only a small amount of time per customer per crop-up, and then sarcastically knee-jerk that it's not a big deal, our human brains should be capable of a deeper understanding. In this case, those 167 hours of extra workload TP just gave us could have been easily avoided simply by making a new Event Hub button, instead of replacing the Event button. It's that Spocking simple.
And that's without getting into the more important issue of how this wasn't avoided during planning or immediately fixed during testing - it's yet another indication of lazy/senseless/desultory work by TP.

This.
Game development is just software development - I really wish game developers would learn some of the basic principles.
And before anyone gets annoyed with me - yes, i saw & heard WRG Ben's interview and yes, I know this is step 1 for event hub - but even then this does not follow any principles of s/w development & release.
TP - if you use Agile; lets see see the next iteration in the next server relase as this is tedious. If you follow Waterfall - get more training; if you follow nothing - invest now in a process!
Was hoping the event hub would allow me to see the preview for the upcoming event without collecting the rewards from the just completed event (I want to save the Chrons for as long as possible to help with the galaxy event). However, clicking on the Event Hub button took me into the post-event dialogue with Solok rambling, so that didn't work/wasn't different from the old button/system.
Also was disappointed that the preview for next week's event didn't appear in game around the same time it was posted here, as I was hoping the in-game info would give people more time to prepare. I didn't remember seeing it on Sunday; maybe it's there now that the prior event just completed, but I can't tell because of the aforementioned rewards issue.
Yes, exactly! I'm annoyed by the extra clicks as well, but I get the future possibilities this brings. What really disappointed me though is that after the event, one click/tap on the event hub button still claims the event. This is the one place where those extra clicks/taps actually would've been nice. I would really like a bit more control over when to actually claim events, maybe even save a couple to claim later.
Back to this thread-- if I didnt follow the forums and know the calendar, I wouldn't know anything event was ongoing right now. A new player would have no idea an event was running currently.

Luckily tracking event participation is easy for WRG. I'm sure they are looking at event participation since the hub launched. If it shows a sudden drop they will fix it.
Just another reason for the soft launch before they add something new that requires the hub to use it.
I would appreciate if this tab would have the timer on,
when the nxt event is going to start (like it was before when it only
was the current event tab), so chances are lower that ppl miss an event start.
Before, you saw in Main Screen when an event was about to start,
now u have to click the Event Hub Button.
This please. Missed the start of the previous event because there was no indication it had started.

I’m in a skirmish and want to claim my rewards, I have to click out of the event.
Now I have to claim it.
Now I have to claim it again.

Enter it again.
And I’m finally back. I still have other clicking to fuse Pike.
I’m also clicking out of this screen unnecessarily because it doesn’t show if I have a reward to claim.

It does tell us the event type.
