Seems there is often something around levels 70-90 that I call a roadblock item. A notoriously hard toolbox or encoded communique or something involving holoprograms/gravitic calipers/ancient films that is meant to stop you in your tracks. (Oh, and my Dr. La Forge is still sitting at level 80 after a year waiting for his golden toolbox. :| )

In "Who Mourns for Morn?" Worf commented about how good a sparing partner he was so those things make sense. And the massage oil? Well, he was supposed to be quite a ladies man

Yep. Forgot to mention that about the massage oil! Morn is fantastic. I love the big lug.

The STD crew puzzle me. Why do they all need so much gold pressed latinum? I could buy the Ferengi empire for the amount of stuff invested there. I'm wondering if they're not really starfleet, but just a bunch of space pirates.

All the Borg were touh to lvl up. Icheb was insane. I wanted to keep him cause I liked the character but the number of chrons I had to spend were mind boggling. It took 1000 chrons to take him just from lvl70 to lvl80.
    Let’s fly!
  • Command Wrap Kirk was a horrible 3* to do.
  • 1* Torres was put on hold for some time at the beginning of my playing because of compression rifles.
2* Persis was levelled more slowly than the others, must have run into roadblocks

    3*s:
Talos V Spock stands out as having an inordinate amount of legendary stuff
    Raquetball Bashir
    B'Etor Duras

    4*s:
    - Ambassador Spock (from the time before I had amassed 2* IDICs)
    - Icheb (before the time of advanced nodes being unlocked for warping)
    - Proton (made easier with threshold rewards)
    - Army of Klingons all at once needing KCA stuff during non-KCA faction events
    - Combat Medic Paris & Niners Kira: began levelling them before this past week's event, gave up and replicated a bunch of stuff for Kira (at least a dozen 1* holoprograms from 90-100 (Section 31 not being an event faction)) and still working on 80-90 gear for Paris; wall of basic ancient films which don't drop from Fed faction missions any more + rare-to-drop 4* components.

    5*s:
    Detective Data
Borg Queen (maybe because first 5* levelled + limited warping capability)
  • Lieutenant Saavik randomly needs a Borg Neural Processor at level eighty something.

I really want to thank everyone who has been participating in this thread. It’s a lot of fun to read the stories and recall leveling those characters or look at my 3* Kirk who is 80 and missing those darn boxing gloves and know I’m not alone. And best of all it’s been an upbeat, positive discussion with the community and on these forums that’s really something to be thankful for!

Why the f*ing f* did he need gold f*ing gloves?? Super painful finish. Replicated them for the full 250k because I was sick of looking at him.

And beyond that weird neural processor is the other Subcutaneous Transponder's that she needs. But there are other non borg that need them as well which is bonkers.

It is the one item that I just go nope and replicate always.

Rakal and Bridge Officer Troi were slogs.

The 3* version, too. I call this the 'Sirtis Effect.'

Based the amount of work it takes to get her all the things she needs, I call any member of this group "High Maintenance" Troi.
  • I obviously enjoyed levelling Morn, loved the character. Maybe I should get a second one!?
  • Any news on Buster Kincaid? Surely he's not as bad as his compadre Captain Proton... Or is he?

Not much on the wiki so far, but his three star uniform has a quantum oscillator in it which is not fun to farm and a new one for me to see in clothing.

Buster isn't particularly "difficult" to level, but he will eat your chrons like crazy. I did have to replicate several items for him, but overall, it was fairly painless (other than the chron hit).

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

The Wiki has been updated. I shall probably try and get him to a point then use rep rations for his high end gear,

I believe Mirror Phlox needed a Borg Neural processor at one point from 70-90 as well. (Maybe twice?)

The thing that really gets me is the multi-level 4* components needed to build OTHER 4* components is ridiculous! I just save up and replicate for most of those, otherwise it would take about 600-700 chrons for each 4* item finish.

I agree, I nearly always justify replications if a 4* item requires multiple other 4* builds in the recipe. Or 4* databases, because those are atrocious to farm for me.

Pretty sure they're easy to farm - just do the Ep7 Epic with free ad warp each time it's up.

    In the Hard-but-worth-it category:
    - RAF Miles O'Brien ... holy cow, those 5* items are a long slog ... The jacket, Helmet and Toolbox are kinda nuts ... but he's worth all that effort.
    - Aviator Yar ... same series as O'Brien ... just look at how far down into a recipe build you have to tap to get to the lowest item of her helmet or jacket. The list didn't even fit at the top of my phone's screen! Also worth the effort.

I've immortalised all the 3*s and don't really remember a stand-out difficult one ... well Command Wrap Kirk was pretty tough, but this was a long time ago when I first started out and he was the second 3* I immortalised (after Tucker). I did not have warps, no replicators, etc. I kept him around for a long time and he eventually made it onto my first Gauntlet squads when that was rolled out ... he was worth it.

I've levelled almost 200 crew to 100 (many not FF) ... but ones that have irritated me are the likes of Maquis Ro Laren (my latest one) ... who just need the same boring items over and over ... millions of 0* Text Books and 0* First Contact Protocols ... though it has not helped that the previous crew to 100 were Vina, Cardassian Kira, Hippocrates Noah and Suliban Reed, who all kinda need similar components.
Quark, Harris etc. did not irritate me so much, because I was expecting difficulty (completed them pre-Voyages with no replicated items) ... with 2* Ro such a breeze, I kinda expected the same for her 4* version.

ps - just looking through my list of lvl 100 crew ... Undercover O'Brien was one I can remember as being really, really quite difficult. I think he needs a lot of flux couplers, and those are a real grind.
