Why am I losing sleep over this game again...?

  • I think that there is another factor that is not being talked about.

The offer wall has made it possible for people to acquire mountains of dilithium for free. I think that the influx of dilithium into the games economy is also at least partly responsible for the perceived increase in competitiveness with faction events.

I wouldn’t call it free. Offer wall can be a good way to get dilithium especially when there is a double or quadruple rewards weekend but the bigger amounts of dilithium usually require lots of effort or some money. For example the WWE champions game offered dilithium when I downloaded it and joined a faction. Well that sounds easy. I downloaded it and tried to join a faction but I had to be lvl 5 to join a faction. Ok, played the game for a week and then was lvl 5 and tried to join a faction. No luck, I checked the fine print. You have to be league lvl 5 to join a faction not player lvl 5. So I had to play the game another two weeks every day to get to league lvl 5 to join a faction to get the dilithium. Along the way I also spent $5 to get a better crew person, Andre the Giant. Part of that was an impulse buy caused I loved him in the Princess Bride. I could have probably completed this offer without spending that money but it would have taken another week or two because my starting crew were bad and there was a learning curve to the game. I might not have completed it in the time allotted without the purchase.

The casino ones don’t necessarily require much effort but if you are unlucky they will require money. One I was able to do for free on auto spin. The second required money. But the second one didn’t pay out any dilithium. Some issue with the install. Contacted that casino game support and Ironsource and both are still giving me the runaround. Other games you download but find it nearly impossible or crazy hard to complete. There are many offers that players can pick and choose from but I wouldn’t simply describe the dilithium as free.

Thats fine, we dont have to call it "free".

I am pretty sure that we can agree that the offer wall has increased the amount of hoarded dilithium in the overall economy though.

It has increased, but I would question by how much. The offers with any kind of meaningful Dil take a long time to play.

The 2/5 at 750 is my guess. 750 feals reachable. So if you wanted the 5* might as well go for 750. But everyone going for 750 just makes it that much harder to reach.

The tokens and speed boosts are really all you need. I doubt there is that much Dil being spent outside the top 10. Maybe a touch in the last minutes of the event, but not enough to move the vp needed significantly.

This seems like a good thread to add my worthless 2 cents.

IMVHO, all ranked rewards need to be expanded by two spaces. (At the very least all ranked rewards, with the 5* in them, need to be expanded by two spaces.)

    What I mean is:
Ranks 1-5 should get you a 5/5 card
Ranks 6-50 should get you a 4/5 card
Ranks 51-200 should get you a 3/5 card
Ranks 201-1250 should get you a 2/5 card
Ranks 1251-2500 should get you a 1/5 card
    Etc.

I mean, the top 5 netting you a 5/5 just makes symmetric sense. Bottom line, the competition for the 5* has risen, so the ranked rewards should be adjusted accordingly. The game is becoming increasingly a pay to win. Not only is this not healthy for the game's player ecosystem, it makes the game hard for new players to get into.

WRG, I appreciate the increased to the ranked rewards, I do. However, I also feel like you did not do enough to keep the rewards balanced, so that more players can, you know, win them.
From my perspective, only faction events would need such an expansion. Galaxy and Skirmishes, I can get the legendary if I want to almost all the time, factions is always a pain, even when I try to stay in the 1500. I know for many others is the other way around, but for me, expading the rewards in galaxy and skirmish events would mean zero difficulty there.

I think MAYBE it would be a good idea to always have a legendary in the threshold rewards at 400k (not the new one, just some old legendary to feel like you are getting something good)

I've done tons of offers. Spent money for some, put in some work for others. That WWE one was terribly long.

Ikr. How do factions ever recruit new players? Then you have to spend money to compete in events. I thought otherwise the game was fun. I filled out a survey with them so we will see.

This is a great idea along with adding old legendaries to voyages. I’m sure many of us here have enough of them taking up a slot that we’d like to finish!

I pitched a variation on that idea back in 2019, only mine was specifically to feature the 5* rank crew from mega events (not the recurring one; the four weekly ones) at the 400k threshold in non-mega events. @Matt_Decker chimed in that "The simpler implementation would be to have a legendary crew member as a reward at the 400k VP level for every event." He was right, of course.

I opened 6 event packs, 6 trader Odo. The one chatacter I already had immortalized. Talk about "why bother" situations...

Im the reverse. Faction is no issue, and the others I never get it.

This is why I only gorge on recap packs. I mean, I'm still gonna get six superfluous Odos but at least they won't cost so much!

One pull, one Sato. Happy, me.

I'm with @AviTrek on this...in fact I'm a prime example. Under the old structure, going for a top 15 4 weeks in a row to get 2 copies of the mega golds is a non-starter. Top 750 on the other hand is usually only 100-200k more VP than top 1500 and much more achieveable. I fully expect to have 2 copies of all of the mega golds after this event.
