Bravo for the event crew lineup! As AviTrek said, both the new and old purples are innovators, which combined with Holo-Engineer Zimmerman as the featured gold makes this thematically the best event of the mega yet.
However I have to ask, what is going on with the art lately? Holo-Engineer Zimmerman, First Contact Barclay, and even Rurigan the ranked gold to win all are extremely yellow/orange. We've seen this before with cards like the The Hansens and Straal, but I was hoping it was just a bad batch of art that didn't get quality checked appropriately. The delays on art approval for some cards like Professor Data and the talk of a new process gave me hope that things would soon be trending up in the art department, but I am quickly losing that hope now that it seems the yellow/orange art is here to stay.
WRG is leaning hard into this being a card collecting game, and my enjoyment of collecting cards is greatly reduced when the art is poor.
I very much agree with Pilot. While I do think that Zimmerman isn't too bad, it's still noticeable. But some other new cards on the other hand... And it definitely affected way I play the game. I'm just nowhere near as hyped about these great cards like I did in the Barry Waddle mega (same kind of power but better art) and I think it is because of the art. It's disappointing to see some cards coming out looking like this especially because the Art has been absolutely gorgeous for the first half of this year. I really hope this is just a temporary fall of Quality and we'll see some flawless art like Caldos IV Crusher or Carlos Data.
There's at least some canon justification for Barclay being this bad:
* The way he behaved in the movie, completely fanboying over a historic figure and being oblivious to Cochrane's feelings, he barely deserves to have a diplomacy skill at all.
* His engineering contributions to the repair is something schoolchildren were capable of in the 24h century.
Awesome art on Rurigan but horrible stats(even when considering his higher profs) on Barclay. Light and Shadow.
He's a 4* we get FF who's in 2 collections. I don't care what his stats are.
Good for you. So: „many collections = OK to have crap stats“. Interesting.
I prefer both combined(good stats+collections). 🤗
He's a 4*. I'm not going to use him after his event even he has the best stats for any 4* in the game. Sure better stats would be nice, but it won't change how I use him. So I'd much rather focus on collections where he can provide value.
I recognized him after reading the description on the Crew Pop Up. He was the guy on DS9 who had created the holographic village, with the holographic people that were generational.

I completely agree. any 4* = FFE and freeze. I don't care what the stats are as I "might" only use them if they pull for an event.
I always find it odd when the 4* doesn't even get used in its own event (fan-boy Barclay not needed at all)
His stats are too similar to Zimmerman. If you have Zimmerman you're not using Barclay. If you're not one of the 1500(+ packs) who have Zimmerman, then Barclay is probably seeing more use.
I'm not using Barclay and I don't have Zimmerman. I've used either Q or Lefler this entire time. Barclay is still a work in progress and he might get some work in a few hours when I finish him.

Save the chrons, he doesn’t do anything. Lefler is better than him and has almost all of his traits.
I find that as I have just passed 133,000 Points, that Lefler carried this thing. MAYBE got into double digits of her not being the top choice for Crafting? Second place is Burnham. over half of the ten-twenty that Lefler was not the first option.

So Barclay's 5* Makeshift Component has a Dip stat of 2+(15-85). It bothers me when 5* items give so little to stats (especially when others give 100 to 2 stats).
Unless it's a reference to how poorly his attempt to chat up Cochrane, using this item as an icebreaker, went, then I'm okay with it.

Lots of First Contact crew in the game, I wonder if we'll see a "The Line Must Be Drawn Here" collection at some point.
Starport
Straal Voyage Rank 73
Sisko(last minute replacement) 110
Zimmerman Rank 13
Rurigan Rank 24
The 5* Voyage ranks have certainly improved in this mega. I wonder what Data would have been.

Fanboy Barclay is long overdue! He was hilarious in that movie!

Lefler is a better ENG+DIP
FC Barclay has a slight advantage on DIP+ENG. But is already behind a 2/5 Luau Q on DIP alone.
