That we're instinctively calling objective events "work" speaks volumes about this feature IMO. How about a new feature that's fun and enjoyable to interact with?
People can choose to participate or not in any event or daily activity. Quitting the game because of OEs is laughable.
All mobile games try to get people to play via the fear of missing out (FOMO). Thus, the marketing makes some people feel obligated to complete objective events. I note that some folks have OCD and are easily triggered by FOMO. It turns the game from fun into an obsession.
If someone isn’t enjoying the game and quits, that’s understandable. If Objective Events cause someone to enjoy the game less and they decide to quit, that’s understandable.
I wish we had something in the game that would cause us to use more of these rosters we have built up. If you’re going to give us busywork, make it worthwhile, like with a lot of honor or a 5* crew.
You would shut out many new members to accomplish objectives to complete in 48 hours worthy of giving out a lot of honor or a 5* crew. There's going to be no pleasing everyone. Probably better in these limited events to allow as many people as possible to compete and complete than making them hard enough where for the most part only more experienced and longer time players have a chance of success.

I wouldn’t do weekly objective events, to be honest. It just clutters up the week for minimal gain. Or TP could just make the weekly rewards more worthwhile. There’s no objective reason for objective events to have meager rewards.
With next to no work, I've managed to integrate the OEs into my gameplay. I've gotten all the rewards from all the OEs so far. I've built my roster, done ridiculously well in the regular events, and still built up a nice reserve while doing it. It's practically free gifts, as far is I'm concerned. So long as you use your head, they are useful.
Let's break down the next one:
***The first three are easy. I have Lieutenant Sahil. I won't be needing the 4* for the event. Nearly every player has one copy of Sahil from the mega to use this weekend. I'm sitting on the purple until Tuesday and, then, I'll finish and freeze him. There's the first half down.
***With the tweak to the ad clock, the cadets can be done in one day, so the missions can be done as part of dailies during those two days. That's not extra cost, unless you don't do dailies.
Whatever I get from the rewards and a purple for the freezer and collections... Not bad. I like the OEs well enough.

Saw the announcement for next week... are we still considered in the beta or is this a representation of OE events? Because 4 events in and its already become redundant and a chore with the same basic thing each week.
As I said earlier once we resolve a few issues, we'll be able to flex the system more.
That being said, the weekly OEs to prepare for the weekly event are likely to stay but they may see variations.
I'm happy with seeing them
For me it's not extra work since I'm already doing all that stuff and now I get extra rewards for it.
It would be nice to not always have to hold back on leveling and fusing the new event crew (because especially in faction events you will need them for the shuttles and in galaxy events for the recipes). Even then it's just two fuses, and the two greens are the third fuse (unless Galaxy / Hybrid where you get one copy of ranked and threshold as community reward).
Of course if you are good enough to rank Top 2000 you can just fuse the four purple copies you get there, but not everybody can be in the Top 2000, especially free-to-play players. Also, credits and merits have become scarce because of honor hoarding and crew retrieval, so I'd rather not want to spend credits and merits on new green and blue crew just for fusing and white crew for immortalizing ... which brings me to the next point.
Immortalizing one crew each week ... imagine newer players struggling just getting enough trainers to level several crew a total of 90 times, let alone immortalize someone in 48 hours of time each week. For a goal of that size each week, I'd expect to get a much better reward in return, such as a super rare citation or 5000 Honor at least. The citation would be better, because each week there are three of four copies of a new super rare crew (event threshold reward).
If you want to keep the immortalization objective in, at least please make it optional (and not locked behind another goal), so players can still reach the main reward (supply kit for example) without being forced to immortalize a crew.

Trainers are only a problem in the first +- two months.
If you focus on one, it should not be a problem.
Yeah, but two months is a long time for a new player struggling with almost everything in the beginning, and this might discourage a new player even more.

Look everyone, a whale!
Most players have trainer limits until they’ve had the 4th shuttle for a couple of months.

It seems you have been playing for a long time. The begin game has changed a lot since the beginning of the game.
You don't need a 4th shuttle to have trainers.
You got a lot from voyage and gauntlet.
I no longer had trainer problem when I was hitting +4 hours in voyage and manage to get wins in gauntlet.
When I was finally getting 5* trainers from shuttles, I no longer needed it.

That’s not been the experiences of the newer players I interact with. It also wasn’t the experience on my newest account (which didn’t really become active until 2020). Everyone has different strategies and time availability. To assume that everyone should follow the same strategy takes away from the richness of the game. It only decreases the time until the game gets stale for everyone.

This is where someone needs to come and remind you young whippersnappers that you have it easy when it comes to trainers. I remember back in my day I had to scale the peak of Olympus Mons in the snow and rain and wind just to get a basic trainer! Eventually I got used to the hardship and finished levelling my 2* Wesley Crusher! And just in time too. The vault was being introduced in a couple weeks! Otherwise Wesley would’ve met an untimely demise!
It would be nice if these Objective Events could start immediately upon the end of the Weekend Event and continue through to the next event. That way, the remnants of Supply Kits could be used to level crew and achieve Away/Space objectives, any tiered reward crew could be fused right away for objectives rather than taking up slots, etc...

I remember when I first started playing nearly 5 years ago that it took a couple months before I realized what trainers were for and that they weren't as scarce as I initially thought they were. I remember levelling crew via manually (pre-warp) completing missions. By the time I figured it out (and got the "ohhhhhhh that's what those are for" out of the way), I had sufficient trainers to keep me going.
The more I play these, the less I like them. They're not encouraging me to play more. They're encouraging me to delay playing so I can check boxes in the arbitrary event. I'm sitting on crew I could have immortalized right now. But instead of finishing them I'm keeping the final star as a separate crew so I can fuse in the event. How is that good for the game? I used to level the new 5* reward Monday night after the event. Now I let them set until Tuesday just so I can level during the arbitrary objective event. Again, what does that accomplish for the game?
If these were new challenges that got me to play more I'd be intrigued. I was fine with the longer Burnham Objective event. But these weekly ones are counter productive with the current objectives.

Agreed. They are just make-work extended dailies, for garbage rewards. They are turning me off of playing the game.
If the Objective Events are the new content/gameplay that WRG has been building up to, it is a bit disappointing. Giving us different ways to do the same things is not new content.
I do understand that this may be appealing to newer players, and helps them build resources. I remember the days of being strapped for trainers and chrons, etc. Not everything has to be geared toward long term players, but it is hard to get excited about running more away missions and level up crew just to get replicator rations and trainers. Maybe changing the reward structure to include honor or pulls would help.

Yes. The monthly was fun. The weekly have become redundant and a chore, and it's barely been a month since their release.

I liked the original mini-event. Even absent the dilithium rewards, it was a great excuse to build my stocks (by running away team missions between events). It furthered my gameplay. This makes me slow my gameplay to hold completed shuttles or wait to fuse or immortalize crew.
I like the concept, and I have found them achievable for me with fair ease. I understand they are not accessible to everyone, but not everyone needs to do it. Nor do we need to do all we are told to.
No, my issue with these is that they are pathetically redundant and they repeat themselves.
I agree with most of the last several posters. The OEs are slowing the game down, if anything. I'm sitting on crew to be fused (which are taking up valuable crew slots--actually they're in overflow because I never have enough crew slots) and to immortalize.
The one for this week is:
- Level Up Crew 90 times
- Fuse 3 Crew
- Immortalize 1 crew (locked - has prerequisites)
- Complete 20x Shuttle Missions
- Complete 40x Away Missions (locked - has a prerequisite)
- Complete 20x Gauntlet Rounds (locked - has a prerequisite)
If the prereq chain is [Shuttle -> Away ->Gauntlet] I'm going to be annoyed.

Yes, they've introduced a great new game mechanic, tracking ad cooldowns! They've also locked space behind away missions, so you can't just do them with dailies (dailies only require 20 of each).

This was the prereq sequence last time they did these objectives. It's definitely the worst possible option, especially for newer players with fewer than 4 shuttles

The key is to run shuttles for a couple of days and then to collect them when the objective event starts. Counts towards the objective event and reduces stress.

I feel like a cartoon character right now where a lightbulb just turned on over my head. This is an excellent solution to the problem (and an alternative to having a tanked shuttle faction).
Slightly more info (if Navarch's point isn't clear) - when a wave of shuttles return, don't "complete" them. Just send out a new wave of shuttles. As long as the first set is back, additional shuttles are "free" (i.e., do not require rental tokens). After the OE starts, complete them all at once and (potentially) instantly finish the shuttle objective.
Yup, I'm annoyed. I'm starting to suspect these OEs are crafted specifically to increase spend, on things like shuttles, crew slots, citations, etc.
I did pay real money for shuttles although this was back when you couldn't get dilithium without paying for it.
I have never bought crew slots.
Technically I have bought citations although past OE's were completed with 4* Citations from the Campaign or Voyages. The game is giving you a free 2* every week that can be used to satisfy next week's OE.
Weekly OE's are very, very trivial. I can't imagine anyone spending money them. Monthly OE's take a little more work.

They're trivial to complete. But they're clearly created to increase engagement which will increase spending. But at the end of the day, this is a freemium game. Their business model is to encourage players to spend more money on the game. So I won't fault them on trying to encourage players to spend more. I'll fault them on adding a boring and repetitive feature instead.
