The key is to run shuttles for a couple of days and then to collect them when the objective event starts. Counts towards the objective event and reduces stress.
I feel like a cartoon character right now where a lightbulb just turned on over my head. This is an excellent solution to the problem (and an alternative to having a tanked shuttle faction).
Slightly more info (if Navarch's point isn't clear) - when a wave of shuttles return, don't "complete" them. Just send out a new wave of shuttles. As long as the first set is back, additional shuttles are "free" (i.e., do not require rental tokens). After the OE starts, complete them all at once and (potentially) instantly finish the shuttle objective.
I’m actually doing this while tanking, but it definitely works.
Another hack that I’m working on is to level, but not finish the threshold crew (they usually have an item between 90 and 99 that doesn’t improve base stats) and then use that crew for the immortalization achievement. For fuses, I just keep all the crew I get from voyages until Tuesday and then clean house, fusing crew that can be fused (ranking in the top 2000 gives one the ability to fuse the ranked 4* crew and then dumping them).
I looked and it is possible to code for ###/### instead of percentages. Not sure how difficult it would be to do, though. Might take more effort than is possible until they finish the testing and then make changes, though.

Switch the Away mission with the Gauntlet.
