We have received a 4/5 crew from every month long OE, up to and including 25th Century Q. We aren’t getting anything more this month thanks to FCD
If a 4/5 is not suitable for you, perhaps we could get one of the klingon females to breast feed you.

    https://youtu.be/fRG_cu4lS4g

We got a 4/5 25th Century Q with the March OE. The new 4/5 Solkar is the featured crew in the April OE. Other than having the announcement and theme coincide with FCD, this crew giveaway is a standard OE reward and is not a FCD celebration reward at all.

We have been getting a 4/5 every month since OEs were introduced, which is why I pointed out that we’re technically not getting any 5* crew specifically for FCD this year - that’s all I was pointing out.

I'm getting scairt that you actually think that the Endurance Objective Events are not tied to special things. Like this one is tied to First Contact Day. When the announcement makes it clear it is.

    I can't remember if there were other Endurance Objective Events, but the two I know for sure we had WERE connected to something happening. Returning Saru was for Disco Season Four starting. 25th Century Q was for the Picard Season Two starting. Can you name specific Endurance Objective Events that were not to celebrate something? {And I do not recall it being either announced or confirmed otherwise that Endurance Objective Events are going to be a regular monthly thing, with no rhyme or reason to them happening.}

If you are right, I really will apologize. But, show your work, please. Don't just drop blanket statements without documentation.

We’ve had monthlong objective events in 4 of the last 5 months. The only month we didn’t have one was February. The theme usually ties in with the mega or some special event (Q for Picard Season 2 premiere), but they have been remarkably common since they were introduced.

Edit to add: getting a 4/5 crew is nice, but if you’re getting one every month, is it really special?

That does not address that the other person is making a false statement that is unsupported by what is actually going on. The Endurance Objective Event is part of the First Contact Day celebration. Webberoni insisting it is just a "coincidence" or something is incorrect.

My point is that I expect WRG to have an endurance event most, if not every, month for the rest of the year (tied to megas or new series or other things). As a result, I don’t view this mega as an extra piece of the First Contact Day event, but rather as something they’d normally do with a First Contact Day theme. I view it as correlation, not causation.

Here’s a really weird illustration. Say I only have cake on Tuesdays. First Contact Day is on Tuesday. Did I eat cake just because it’s First Contact Day?

When have they ever done an endurance event linked to a mega? How is Solkar part of this month's mega? Your argument makes absolutely no sense (and I think you know that, so you tried to distract us with cake).

Who's Captain Semel? @Shan , this looks like this will affect the way the event functions.

This is an old internal name for the crew, it would be looked into but it should not affect the event as the objective will look for the crew symbol, which has not changed.

Very funny! Why Semel? Correct spelling would be with double m btw, if referring to the pastry.

It's very disheartening to see that because we have the means and the opportunities to provide a new crew (+ copies) more often and more easily, it's viewed as no longer special.

There's tons of work put into it, lots of thoughts as well, the intent is, and always will be, to do something nice for our players. Granted the execution had flaws this time.

I didn't want to say anything at first, because this is very typical of gaming communities and society as a whole, but I have hopes that we all can collectively be more mindful, and make this world a better place. Yes, I went there, no regret.

In conclusion, a big thank you to all who are appreciative of gestures, big and small.

As for those of you who are disappointed, that's perfectly fine, we all have different expectations, but maybe be more mindful in how you express said disappointment :)

I want to add my appreciation here, too. I have definitely been enjoying a new way to earn 4/5 crew.

  • I am always glad to see free crew slots so I don't have to spend dil to try and keep up. Also, I agree that these month long objective events are perfect for these sorts of aspects of the game - giving something to players while also encouraging them to log in and play often. Now if we could just get some brand new event types for either normal or mid-week events...

As far as I'm concerned, Solkar is perfect for FCD. We got Cochrane first and now Solkar. This format gives a solid (Top 25 Dip base and 4 collections) that most of us will have immortal within the month. He's not spectacular, but some people would have a hissy if he was really good and everyone got him free. I'm happy and have him to lvl 70 2/5* already.
How about the Phoenix or the Vulcan Lander next year?

I am sure there was a lot of work put into this considering you also had to deal with getting everything ready for the Mission Chicago booth. I personally am at a point where I need to pick and choose which new crew I want to retain considering the # of crew slots I have and current incomplete 5*s that need more stars. Thanks for the free crew, any crew that can help with me attaining the next collection goal is very appreciated, especially when I get 4/5 of them :) And I know it would have helped me greatly when I was a mid-level captain. So in that respect I am like the old man on the porch, dem younguns are handed everything! Get off my lawn! :p

David Semel was the director of the Discovery pilot episode, titled "The Vulcan Hello." Solkar is giving us a Vulcan hello. I'm guessing that's the connection.

3 of the collections he hits, I'm in high 30's, so one cite will tick them close to the 40 crew achievement. Not the best skill set, but "logical" for the character.

As a late arrival to the game, I don't have ZC, but a 3/5 Lily I was hoping to cite, but them's the breaks.

I appreciate the free crew as well but, to be honest, disappointed in the lack of free cake.
  • Maybe I'm confused, but I have not seen any free slots yet. When were we going to get them? Or did they sneak them in without me noticing?

What kind of cake do Vulcans have with their tea? Fairy cake, maybe? Or are they partial to pound cake?

Good question. It would have to be some kind of cake that doesn't elicit an emotional response. Since most cakes make me happy, they are all out. Pound cake mildly disgusts me, so it would be perfect for Vulcans from Enterprise who were constantly over-emotional in the disgust category. Seriously, they wore their contempt and disgust and superiority right out in the open while pretending not to. But everyone could see it. That is why pound cake could work. I'll see if I think of a better cake for Vulcans.

That's part of the fun of participating in the creation process, seeing details that I didn't remember and/or have missed.

I did a quick search but was not able to find a translation for that Vulcan writing.

The closest translation that can be rendered is something along the lines of,
“My crew and I went to a primitive planet and all I got was this lousy t shirt”
