Read into this what you want, but I don't think taking the 1112 crew (number of CR-able cards) Portal size down to 248 is that bad. But opinions will vary.
* All quick counts off of the BB search, so numbers may be off a bit.
It's also a 10x with a chance at multiple drops vs a single 1x. And if it is just honor, ~700 honor vs 200 honor.
I may end up convincing myself otherwise. But for now at least, Im not sure if there are enough DS9 crew that I want that I would feel like the odds of getting them are good enough to give to the extra honor.
Also, I don't give any regard to what the portal rewards could be when considering collections that interest me. I collect DS9 crew. A collection of DS9 crew would suit me because it's a collection of crew I'm already collecting. That's the entirety of my thought process. It's weird to me that we'd never had anything like the Disco Beholds until a month ago and now that's some barometer for what collections are appealing.

I just wanna add that even if they do a DS9 Collection and some of the Rewards are Mixed Beholds, they will probably be time limited like Disco ones and anyone who does not want the DS9 Beholds can just wait until they change to Ten Pulls. By then might even be a Portal Update.

Also, weren't the Disco beholds ALL Disco crew and not just the Portal? I'm pretty sure they were, because I got Second Chance Gray out of one and that is one of the two crew in orange on my whiteboard list for top 20 Science Core. That's Not-In-Portal-But-I-Have-A-Copy. There are some newer DS9 I missed that I would like a crack at.

Here's how DS9 crew break down going into the upcoming mega-event, excluding Torias Bashir and the teased-but-unnamed Sisko:
1* - 6 (all in portal)
2* - 12 (11 in portal, plus Kevin Mulkahey)
3* - 21 (20 in portal, plus Commanding Officer Sisko [Achievements])
4* - 98 (87 in portal, plus Thot Gor [Voyages] and 10 additional crew)*
5* - 109 (97 in portal, plus Kal'Hyah Worf [Honor Hall], Scapegoat O'Brien [Collection], and 10 additional crew)
*Counting Defiant Commander Worf with DS9 since he's tagged that way per Datacore. I've always thought he was supposed to be from First Contact, but whatever.
I didn't pay attention to the Disco beholds ("Disc'olds"?); did they include The Red Angel or any other such otherwise exclusive crew? Personally, I'd be down with this hypothetical DS9 behold pool including Thot Gor, Kal'Hyah Worf, and/or Scapegoat O'Brien. I don't need Thot Gor or O'Brien myself, but I think it'd be nifty for someone to snag 'em in a special behold they got for collecting DS9 crew.
We'll see how it shakes out, but upfront my first thought is that it's irritating not to be able to count on recap packs at the end of the month to help compensate for any crew I fall short of snagging during the event. Having three of the four weeks be Galaxy/hybrids offering community rewards makes me think I'm likelier to just bail even earlier than the 130k threshold in those weeks if I snag the new 4*'s from them early. Yeah, I'd like all of the new 5* crew, too, but thanks to FBBs demanding I keep as much of my crew active as possible at all times, I don't really have anywhere to put that many new crew, certainly not all at once.

The most a Ship can use is 4 Crew. And there should be some overlap in Crew that are actually beneficial in FBB between Ships. How many Crew are you keeping out for FBB?
I am also not sure about the "Recap" Pack being available from the start. As said, three of the four 4 🌟 Crew will be Community Rewards for final 🌟. Chasing Legendaries ahead of Events would be the only "utility" from the Packs being "Pre-Caps" and I think many of us can testify about how many of the Event Crew we get from Packs are Legendary.

It's not the staffing of the ship. It's helping my fleet unlock nodes in the combo chains. If I didn't give a damn about that, yeah, I could free up a hundred crew slots instantly. I consider it bad form for an admiral to not give a damn about helping his fleet clear things, though.

Which can be frozen and unfrozen as needed. If someone is keeping loads of Crew unfrozen because they might be needed for a Node sometime, then that is just poor Slot management. Sorry if that offends anyone.

But, it sounds like you are keeping "a hundred" Crew unfrozen just in case they are needed for a Node. That is your choice. It is not the company's fault.

I dunno just what I said that set you off, but I assure you I wasn't trying to bait you into anything contentious. Surely after all these years you don't think I'm the kind of player who doesn't pay attention to how to manage his resources? The truth is, our fleet is unlocking nodes with the consistent participation of only seven or eight players. I don't know what things are like in your fleet, but trying to provide this much coverage as a single player requires either spending thousands of merits daily or carrying a full boat. I wasn't attacking WRG for any of this. It probably is my fault our fleet hasn't gotten back to full capacity in almost four years. I'll own that.

Was not meant to be contentious. Apologize it came across that way. I'm fully aware of how Merit heavy it can be. I'm one of the three in our Fleet with a heavy load of the "oddballs" that solve some of the odder Nodes. Just about every day I end up with "You need to make room in your Crew Quarters" messages when doing Nodes. Because I forget to throw people back in the freezer. I did not mean to sound mean. I promise.
I know I have trouble phrasing stuff. And I hate that. But, part of the problem is that I do not see it. I'm so sorry and I will be posting again when I can ser.
"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
I try not to spend dil on crew packs, I prefer to save it for crew slots.
I normally cite my reoccurring legendary near the beginning of the mega, and use the crew as my shared crew for faction events. This reduces the chances of me buying a pack after the mega, as I don't want to risk getting a 1/5 dupe that will sit in my crew quarters for years, or be airlocked.
If I got a copy before the mega, then it would take the guesswork out of citing the legendary.
In addition the legendary could be levelled before the start of the mega, especially useful for those making a play for the first event.
Other event legendaries.
It may be that a player gets a legendary from the pack, and decides they only need one star, and so decides not to play for the legendary in that event.
It could be the opposite. A player might not have been interested in a crew, but since they have picked up one copy in the pack, may decide to play for further copies to make the crew more useful.

And you could add Linited time only DS9 mixed beholds instead of the regular beholds maybe
