Years of play has driven certain player behaviour and overnight WRG is changing key aspects seemingly without reason, nor consultation and backed up with very poor communication.
This is really what a dozen or so concurrent threads about various recent changes are about. I'll even take WRG's side in the first half of this. It's their game to make changes to, without consulting players. Just because things have been a certain way isn't a reason they have to remain that way. And in fairness, forum members have complained for years well before WRG took ownership about staleness.
Where I'm entirely with my fellow forum members is the back half of this thesis. Because communication has been so poor, it's hard to read a lot of these recent changes as anything other than change for change's sake. It's unnecessarily confusing at best and antagonistic at worst. We're going to find out about changes once they're made anyway. We're going to want communication about those changes. How does it possibly benefit WRG to wait until after implementing changes to then engage in communication instead of before? They don't need our permission to make changes. There's no need to try to "sneak something by us."
The other, and greater, problem is that it projects an image of unprofessional disarray that makes it difficult to maintain confidence that the game will even still be live the next time I log in. It seems Ben has been caught by surprise by some of these changes, too. I get that WRG needs to make money. But WRG isn't getting my money if I can't trust that I'll have anything to show for it ten minutes after I give it to them. Right now, I'm unconvinced there's enough professionalism to have that trust. I can't even recommend STT to other people in good conscience right now.
Can someone explain why I got Hirogen, Ferengi Traditionalists and Cardassian Transmissions 4 each.
The accompanying text saying something about a faction / Galaxy event. ??
Acording to the info you provided this event is pure galaxy not faction galaxy.
I think you messed up with next weeks event.
We didn't mix up anything. These are goodies for next week's event.
But... why?
It’s pretty clear that the instuitutional communication knowledge left the company with Shan.

There are just too many replies that I want to make to this. I'll leave it at this:

This is peculiar, and again not what the player base is used to.
@STT Community please can you realise that the player base is making comments and trying to help guide you, as many of us having been playing this game for 7 years. The stance on a number of threads which basically amounts to “tough”, is undermining your credibility. It is easy to get most people in the game on “your” side , as been proven in the past.
Also, why are in game messages now disappearing so quickly? What was wrong with the previous expiry date. Years of play has driven certain player behaviour and overnight WRG is changing key aspects seemingly without reason, nor consultation and backed up with very poor communication.
Seriously, please can communications improve, fewer silly mistakes made and please, please, please listen to the players. These past few weeks are making the game far less fun to play and you (and others in WRG) are the ones that can actually improve things.
So far I m seeing 4/10 for effort and about 2/10 for communication.
Please note that this is meant as feedback from a long time player with some constructive criticism and not a personal attack on anyone.
Hi! Thank you for your comment. We're always open to receiving feedback and trying to improve in any way we can. I'll try to give you an answer to all your hesitations.
It's fair to say that recent changes on several aspects may not be in response to communication but operational changes.
After reading all your comments about missing in-game messages, we tried to fit our operational workflow while affecting your playing experience as little as possible. On that purpose, we restarted in-game messages after this new situation, and we have decided to send them out one week before instead of 1-2 days before. The team realized that it's better to send them out one week before than nothing. Additionally, we have increased the amount of Chronitons being sent out (which I believe is higher than in the past).
Sometimes we tend to be strict about changes, which is completely normal and reasonable, but in the end, we should ask ourselves how these changes are really affecting our overall gaming experience.
Regarding "apologizing too much," it's important to say that I'm not apologizing for myself but for the team as a whole. I feel like the best way to stay humble and be our best version is to pay attention and step back once we've made a mistake.
Of course, I'm not taking this personally. I'm still happy to be here and learning every day from all of you. Hope this helps.

The issue with sending the message out a week early is that it’s confusing to players, since many players focus on the current week’s event first. You’d be much better off sending it out 24-48 hours before the event.

"Better... one week before than nothing" is odd framing. Is there some reason it had to be one week instead of 2 days? That was ideal.
Yeah I was wondering that myself
I'm guessing Nancy works on STT on Wednesday or Thursday and the rest of of the week she spends on other games.
She would be setting an example the rest of us should consider following, then.
Nice one!
