Happened to me too, but luckily (a) my shuttles were not back yet, and (b) I was able to get in after about 10 minutes.
Also getting responses from various captains in [TLA] fleet, that they cant access the game or send out shuttles since a few hours. Right now, I also discovered the issue with the error.
Also: your your programmers finally set correct flags in their code? Its kind of hilarious, seeing Hypertext Markup Language code (HTML Websites basically) for bold formating <b> </b>; <H2> for size of a font and <p> tag for "paragraph" , when clearly the cell itself is either wrong formated or doesn't allow those options. Unity programming is not that difficult.
But what it makes it worse, that constantly spelling / typing errors are on cards, in names, in message, in pack descriptions (talking about 4 pack in the crew when there is only 3 crew in it) and so on - and also IN the programming code.
An argument always starts with <argument> and closes with </argument>. </[space]argument> is not an option and renders the code line invalid.
if this happens already in a descriptive text, I don't want to see your code or server configuration of the Amazon Cloud Servers or CloudFlare (which WRG both employ for the game)
A tiny bit more quality management by @WRG Ben might be maybe an option?
Sorry for the rant, but it is annoying that so small errors - summing up - is destroying my weekend with the game.

Still issues, reaching the game server. Either I get on the game after many tries, or not.
I did a path tracing of the domain app.startrektimelines.com (and the mirror? server thorium.disruptorbeam.com). With very low ping times my IP finds its way to Spain (Server in Madrid - operated by Tilting Point Barcelona ???) and than over the Atlantic, ending up at a sever, hosted at the city of Columbus. From there on its in a loop, not finding its way to WRGs gaming servers on the west coast (AMS) ...
Do i need to use a VPN and a US server, to get routed properly?

tiny update from my side - monday morning 10am ... able to play the game and log on via Steam without any problem. So, maybe I find some time to do a bit of the Galaxy event part till the event ends ^^
@WRG_JOE Might this be an issue with server load balancing (CloudFlare) to the various gaming (mirror) servers? "To many players at the same time" shouldn't be an issue ... and of course a lot of requests are happening with all players playing a "Galaxy" event with a lot of input, feedback, refreshing required. Maybe this could be optimized?

... and it happened AGAIN - 26 minutes before the event ended.
17 minutes left and trying to redeem all VP galaxy supply marks to rank up (not possible)
Even the (annoying) each time starting the game "ingame advertisement" got an error
Starting app again at Steam and Microsoft Store game version (didn't try Facebook web-browser, as that's even more unreliable)
And additionally, also display errors. Managed to craft the middle mission but was unable to redeem, as it just vanished as like as Harry Potter put a spell on it.
Could you please give the servers a bit more load balance? You know that at the beginning and the end of an event (and in between) all players try to use it. Thats the idea behind an online game ...

No. Not resolved. Clearly this is an intermittent issue. My fleet also experienced log in or boot out issues the last 2 hours of event. In addition to daily issues still ongoing. Fyi, my fleet is worldwide on various servers, platforms, devices. Very diverse. @General Khazaan <))) [TLA] sorry for the late reply, this is clearly a very wide issue. But it is temporary and resolves itself, so I feel they are in no hurry to fix it.

Same problem today at 2:35pm Pacific Time. Error encountered like yesterday, and cannot log back in!
(update) - I was able to get in again after 5-10 minutes. This is the same timeframe as yesterday.
