Just got Frank Hollander/1701 Sisko/The One, Lore from Elusive Treasures... I'm totally stumped! I have a ton of CMD/DIP/SEC (cmdr. Kira, Kahless, Gowron, all of the mega event legendaries) so I feel like I should go with Lore, but I don't have any Siskos besides the 2*, and you cannot deny Ben Sisko
Sisko will benefit you as being event bonus crew more frequently, as well.

Just started 3 days ago, trying to figure out what some of this stuff even means. What is airlocking? What is a behold, is that a maxed out 5*?
I bought a few things to get VIP 5 and have 4 5* crew so far and even got lucky and received a borg scout cube ship from spin. At lvl 26 so far and planning to play for a while, i'm in a fleet/alliance but they don't say much and open chat is all over the place. So i'm not sure on any specifics for future of my crew I need to know or what much of anything means terminology wise
Just started 3 days ago, trying to figure out what some of this stuff even means. What is airlocking?
Airlocking is dismissing your crew. In the lower right corner of the screen is an icon that has a circle with a diagonal line through it. Click that and you can dismiss/airlock crew you do not want. (Don't worry, it will give you a confirmation popup window, so you can't do it accidentally.)
A Behold occasionally happens when you do a Premium Rewards (or other crew-related) "pull" in the Time Portal. It pops up a choice of 3 crew. You have the option to choose any of those three to join your roster. This popup will also tell you if you already have that crew, and how many stars you have on them. For a handy online tool that will help you make that decision of who to choose, visit this site: http://ssr.izausomecreations.com/crewcost.html

The Borg cube will help you greatly in these early days. It will make it much easier to succeed at space battles at maximum efficiency, which will unlock more missions at higher levels, leading to more good loot in return!
For a new player, I'd suggest you also bookmark the unofficial wiki, maintained by the players: https://stt.wiki
And the forums are of course a great source of information and advice, as well!
Regarding your fleet, a lot of them don't chat much. At some point you may want to leave and join a new one, as a good fleet is also extremely helpful in the game. Go to the Fleet Central subforum here to explore your options.
Good luck!

What I learned after months of playing and airlocking many good crewmembers: Buy more slots for your crew before you buy more Packs of crew.
Also four shuttles are important for your progress.
Sorry, I know this isn’t a Behold question, but I put in the wrong post and can’t delete it! Quick Faction Event question. If I open the twenty allowed faction event shuttle missions, will they remain as event missions after end of phase one or will they revert to regular federation missions?

If you open them prior to the beginning of Phase 2, you can still earn VP from them. If you leave your game running the whole time, you can also still get crew bonuses on them — if you restart, however, you will not get crew bonuses (although you will still earn VP). Just keep in mind that they will expire after 12 hours (assuming you're at 3-hour shuttles), so it's pointless to open more than you will be able to run in that period of time.
EDIT: I had forgotten when I posted this that after some testing during the last hybrid event, I discovered that the crew bonus apparently still applies even if you restart the game — although it will not show a bonus, and the percentages will be way lower as a result. But in this particular case, those percentages will be wrong. They will actually be what they would have been had you run the mission with that same crew prior to the start of Phase 2. (However, one thing that does go away on a restart is crew sharing. You will no longer be able to use your squadron leader's shared crew if you restart the game during this period.)

Even if the bonus isn't displayed, it is still active. Just hunt down the bonus crew in the list.
Y'know, several of us in my fleet did an experiment last time out which seems to support this theory, but I completely forgot about it when I posted that above. I shall edit the post.

Can i ask how do you you freeze a behold i thought you had to make a decision the moment it poped up ?
You can leave it for as long as you want. You just can't do anything else in the game until you deal with it. I think you can even exit the game and it will still be there when you return. But otherwise you can have it sitting there for many hours, if you wish. Kind of a problem to do that when you get one in the middle of an event, though, of course.

I also have a tricky behold all new:
Admiral Riker
Ambassador Troi
First officer Riker
I have Guinian and M. Picard for Gauntlet in those areas and the shuttle stats are lower.
Thanks for helping in advance.

Sorry, saw that no one replied here ... a little late, but just some feedback.
I'd go for either of the two Rikers ...
- Admiral if you really like Gauntlet, a solid allround crew that you'll probably always go with.
- First Officer if you need to broaden out your base-stat shuttle crew in SEC/CMD (okay Gauntlet stats).
On top of that, Riker is featured in quite a number of events so he'll always be of benefit there too.
Laxwanna is just good for specific Gauntlets, so I'd only pick her if I really liked her character.
Personally, I'd go for Admiral Riker, not for any of the above reasons, but because he's the guy ordering the cadets around etc. and one of the original crew in the game.
I could not figure out how to post a new thread, and now I know why!
Thanks for creating this thread.
I first started playing in January 2016. I was playing for free. I finally bought some dilithium, and it turned into a whole new game!
My question: realistically, is this a pay for play game? If you don't buy dilithium, is the game functionally playable?
Thanks for your feedback.
There are many "VIP 0" players who excel at the game. The biggest difference is that it will take you longer to get where you want to be, but you can certainly play the game for free. For many, however, the "happy medium", if you will, is buying the monthly card, at least until you earn enough to purchase two more shuttles, which is a huge help. Free-to-play (F2P) players have even won Galaxy events, by planning way ahead and saving up resources. But even if you don't aim that high, you can still do quite well as F2P.
You've been playing for a long time, so I assume you have gotten to a decent place, crew-wise, but for other new-ish players reading this who may be wondering, the key in succeeding without spending a lot (or anything) is to focus and not try to do too much too soon. Get the 2* cadets which you need for passing the weekday challenges, and level them up first, then work on the 3* crew for the weekend challenges. And only work on leveling 2 or 3 crew at a time.

I went several months as a free player. You can have a good time for free, but the crew limit is killer. I went to monthly card for 4 dollars a month. You can save for more shuttles and crew slots

I started a long time ago, but got frustrated and wandered away a couple of months after I started, and subsequently lost that account. I'm getting back into the game, but was wondering if I could afford it.

Ahh, good to know where best to focus any paid effort. Thank you!
The best place for F2P players to get 4* and 5* crew is events. Super-rares are easy to get in events, as you can get copies of at least one of them in the threshold rewards (though fully-fusing them may be more challenging). Acquiring event Legendaries is more challenging, since you need to place in the top 1000, but in this current mega event (and other mega events), you will have much easier access to the featured 5* crew (Prisoner Katrina Cornwell, in this case).
In Galaxy Events, there's always also a community reward of a free premium 10-pull, where you'll get one 4* crew at least, and the possibility of a 5*.
Voyages also drop Super-rares, but if your crew is not able to get past 6 hours without refilling, it's not likely you'll score any. Gauntlet, of course, gives you an opportunity to win a Legendary, but that is still a fairly rare occurence.
Other than that, your best bet may be to do the occasional merit pull (a new feature, if you've just restarted playing recently). It drops a lot of lower-ranked crew, but also can drop 4* and 5* crew. Just keep plugging away in the Gauntlet to get your merit stash up high enough so that doing that pull doesn't bankrupt you.

I am looking for behold advice. I have the following choice:
Ugh, can't post links. So, added as file attachment.
I understand that the specifics vary based on one's crew, but is there a standout favorite with this group?
Thanks for your help.
You’d be hard pressed to make a wrong choice here. Even at 2/5*, Lt. Commander Dax is one of my top scientists and usually makes it onto voyages with her combination of traits.
After seeing someone post a question in a thread that had nothing to do with Behold advice, I thought I'd make this, so folks like that have somewhere to go.
This is for anyone who cannot create a new thread here, for whatever reason. Please post your questions in this thread, and hopefully some kind soul will get back to you.
(And this should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: to anyone who replies with advice to those who are seeking it, please be sure to either quote that person's post, or mention them by name, so it's clear who is being replied to.)
Hmmm, Traveler can be a powerful engineer. Hollander is OK for gauntlet sometimes, but not that powerful. Personally I'd go with Kirk for his high CMD and traits, but maybe because I have the other two.
Thx for this thread! 5-star behold advice sought. The Traveler vs Gangster Kirk vs Frank Hollander
All would be nice to have in my collection.
How are you on Command Dip Security crew - Gangster Kirk is high up the food chain for this (plus A: I really like the card, B: it's Kirk, no need for Bloody C, D or E)
The Traveller however will give you a handy boost in Engineering and Science, I think these two are your best options.
Frank Hollander nice card and good for the wild west collection - but use wise very bad card, not great for gauntlet and is only a two skill card so won't be immediately useful on voyages unless FE/FF.
[was on Sabbatical/Hiatus] Currently a trialist at Galaxy SquadronSTAY SAFE and KBO
I think I was really focused on Kirk because of course, it's Kirk. Stats wise he's a slight improvement over Necheyav, but not as good in gauntlet. The Traveler will be more beneficial with ENG, but Kirk... Thanks for the advice. For a moment I did wonder about Hollander for the collections, but yeah...he's pretty lackluster overall. On a side note, why don't we have a Kirk with a value equal to M.Picard/Locutus? There would be no Picard (or anyone else) without Kirk.
