Pretty crazy when you get side by sides like seen above to put into perspective how fantastic they've been and how lazy they are now

We are listening and this thread was very helpful in bringing your concerns about art to light. This has in turn created an internal discussion with the goal of improving consistency in our crew art.

This is a slow process and does not mean that we will be able to address all of your concerns, but we re trying to take your feedback into consideration as much as possible.

Thank you for creating this thread Shan! I have actually been wanting to start this exact thread for the last few weeks, but I just haven't had the time to dive into my artwork to grab all the comparisons I wanted to. I was going to call the thread "DB Artwork: The Good, The Great and the...What Were They Thinking?" ;)

Also, besides the crew specifics, the artwork on the ships really needs to be discussed. I will post some examples here when I have more time. I realize that the ship graphics will be far more labour intensive given the 3-D nature of the beasties, but should be given some more consideration.

I guess it’s probably too much to ask but it would be reassuring if you not only stated that DB understood the problem but that they agreed with us. Once again, please look at the image from this event. The outline glow on Yar’s shoulder is thicker than the piping on her uniform around her neck! For gods sake the artist is clearly either bad or extremely rushed.

Heh. The "art" that keeps getting pumped out to forever pollute the game isn't a "slow process".

Art isn't just a formulaic thing where we can take a few pointers here and there like we listed in the thread and call it good. Why do players have to teach DB the basics of art? There are people for whom this is a profession, have studied and practiced for many years to hone their craft.

Hire (back) these professional artists please. Maybe more reruns with old cards in the meantime to prevent the rapid flow of new "art" destroying our favourite characters. The cards I most hoped for in the game (Tardigrade) have been utterly ruined that I wish they hadn't been made at all.

Frankly as an artist, a card game as profitable and popular as this, which doesn't bother to support and pay for art, is insulting.

A big thank you to all who participated in this thread.

This is the kind of feedback that is really well done and helpful.
It allowed Black Pebble and myself to submit a clear and precise summary to the team.

It is not necessary to continue to provide feedback at this point, but feel free to add your comments of course :)

    Again, thank you!

Honest question, what was the purpose for this thread?

To get some recognition from DB that the art is becoming a problem. Customers expect a certain level of quality and we see DB has not been listening.

Since this is a sort of card collector game nearly impossible to complete, unless you spend as much money as you could use to organize a dinner with one of the actors of the series... :) Well, I think that I won't spend any money on this last one with unrecognizable YAR and male Seven. The same I did with mirror data and mirror Reeds.

As I mentioned earlier, I agree it's very low-detail (and a lot darker, for some reason), but when you compare Seven's artwork to a screenshot from the episode, I think it's quite a good representation, considering.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

  • I think they made everything too dark. Like they darken it intentional to hide the lack of detail.

@Shan can you ask them to brighten up the images. They look much better lighter.

We have had some good art lately. But DB is obviously not using artists with similar abilities. I really like Yar but do not want this version of her at all.
  • Ross looks good and also the Amelia Earhart art as far as new characters go. Adhar Ru'afo is good too. Just wish it was consistent.

Yes the Yar looks bad. In all honesty the artwork was my make or break decision if I was going to buy the $100 event pack. It’s a no now but you may persuade me back if the skill sets are in line with what I’m looking for.

You hit it right there, consistency! We know DB has at least one good artist left, why don't they teach/share techniques with the rest of the class? Unless the artwork is subcontracted, then just find better subs!
