Hey um where's your quote from "so long and thanks for all the fish"?
My bf used it in the past and I don't know the reference. I could probably just google it I suppose, but I figured asking won't hurt.
Its what the dolphins said when the evacuated the Earth before the Vogons destroyed it to make way for a Hyperspace bypass in Douglas Adams Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy radio/book/TV MiniSeries and movie. In fact the movie opens up with a musical sequence with dancing dolphins saying So Long, etc
We are going to get a Mirror Wesley, Mirro Riker, or Mirror Geordie. I would orefer the Geordie but expect it to be Wesley. DB is clearly doing a promotion for Mirror Broken TNG comics.

If you have a problem with men kissing or even remotely loving each other you might want to step aside and let history pass you by... Because you are archaic and on the wrong side my friend... *kiss
If you have a problem with a particular individual, that’s fine. But don’t make sweeping statements asserting that anyone who does not agree with you is “archaic” and “on the wrong side”.
I do in fact “have a problem with men kissing”. Let’s be clear: I don’t have a problem with the men themselves, only with the action itself. I believe it is wrong. I am not a hater, I have several friends who are gay. They are good people. But I believe what they are doing is wrong. That doesn’t mean I attempt to “correct” them. They have the right to do as they please. We should all act with tolerance.
Your statement that anyone who believes as I do is “archaic”, demonstrates the exact same intolerance that you are railing against. I am entitled to my beliefs, just as you are.
Isn’t that a core precept of what Star Trek is about?
Isn’t that a core precept of what Star Trek is about?
With the multi-cultural cast, Gene Roddenberry chose to take a global approach in his series, and he held his ground despite network pushback, knowing the importance of showing social progress on national television. He knew that while “Star Trek had to entertain or go off the air”, he felt that their unprecedented television format allowed them “to challenge and stimulate the audience”

I’m not sure what point you are attempting to make, if any. I can only assume that since you had no original thoughts to share of your own, you are simply mocking me. My statements were not inflammatory in any way (at least, they were not intended to be). My purpose was only to state my point of view and ask that my view (and others’) be respected in the same way that you want your own view to be respected.
But, unsurprisingly, such a request is met with a mocking response. So ends my naive attempt to bring a bit of civility to the internet.

The mockery seems as evil as intolerance.
It's always a 'good' thing when its done for the cause or side that we champion or believe in.

See that's the thing. I'm hoping equality wins out. But I believe being ignorant towards the opposition just takes you to the level of where you accuse others of being, and actually hurts the position that is supposedly being striven for.

I really do not know what "ignorant towards the opposition" means... because to me that sounds like I should have some sort of pity for those who are on the wrong side of history which I simply refuse to do. I have said it before but I grew up just a few blocks from a NAZI concentration camp and just for that reason I DO NOT ever have any sympathy for those who refuse to accept the progress of decent human behaviour and decorum. We should have gone passed homophobia a very long time ago.... but hell I grew up in HAmsterdam

I believe they're saying that insulting someone for their views doesn't do a lot to resolve the difference in opinion.
Personally I have no problem with someone having biases against gender, race or sexuality just so long as they don't expect society to conform to their biases or think it is in any way acceptable to act upon that bias in a way that is detrimental to those they are biased against. The moment they cross that line, then I have a problem with them.
Someone saying "I have a problem with two men kissing" deserves a pitying shrug, they're entitled to that opinion.
Someone saying "I have a problem with two men kissing, and the world owes it to me to ensure I never have to see it", on the other hand, is an entitled jerk unaware there is no right not to be offended.

Isn’t that a core precept of what Star Trek is about?
Star Trek's original series did not have any explicitly LGBT characters, although in 2005 George Takei, who portrayed helmsman Lt. Hikaru Sulu, came out as gay.[11][12] In October 2011, Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the rebooted feature film franchise, publicly came out as gay.[13] He explained that, after the suicide of bisexual teenager Jamey Rodemeyer, he realized "that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality."[14]
Roddenberry once spoke of overcoming his own homophobia. In a 1991 interview with The Humanist, he remarked:
My attitude toward homosexuality has changed. I came to the conclusion that I was wrong. I was never someone who hunted down '**tsk tsk**' as we used to call them on the street. I would, sometimes, say something anti-homosexual off the top of my head because it was thought, in those days, to be funny. I never really deeply believed those comments, but I gave the impression of being thoughtless in these areas. I have, over many years, changed my attitude about gay men and women.[15]
According to The Advocate, Roddenberry promised that in the then-upcoming fifth season of TNG, gay crew members would appear on the show. Other stars of the franchise chimed in, with Leonard Nimoy (who played Spock) offering his support in a 1991 letter to the Los Angeles Times saying, "It is entirely fitting that gays and lesbians will appear unobtrusively aboard the Enterprise—neither objects of pity nor melodramatic attention."[16]
However, Roddenberry died soon after his interviews and the announced plans to have a gay crew member on TNG never materialized. Control of the Star Trek franchise fell to Rick Berman. While no gay crew members appeared on TNG, "The Outcast" was one episode that was intended to address the subject of sexual discrimination in the Star Trek universe. The episode featured Soren, a member of an androgynous race called the J'naii, who find the concept of gender primitive and offensive. Soren, unlike most others of her race, reveals to Commander Riker that she is inclined toward a female identity and is attracted to him. Riker and Soren begin a secret romantic relationship, and when her people discover this, she is arrested and subjected to "psychotectic therapy", by which she has all elements of gender eliminated, and loses her attraction to Riker. The episode was met with both praise and criticism from the LGBT community. In the case of the latter, criticism came from people who felt that it sanctioned the brainwashing therapy to which Soren was subjected, and others who felt that the creative staff abdicated their responsibility to exploring the issue.[17] Actor Jonathan Frakes, who played Riker, also commented that the episode was not daring enough, in that Soren, who was played by Melinda Culea, should have been more evidently male.[1]
