I personally feel the fairest compensation would be to give everybody 1 free Mirror Beverly and 4 free event packs.
This event is borked, honestly. I have no desire to keep competing in it anymore. Just let the people who want to keep grinding away keep doing so, and give the rest of us a break and call it an early Christmas present and say you'll do better in future events.
I understand the problems and decisions you faced with this issue and understand why you've taken the actions that you have..
However, I do also see it from the perspective of those who bought event packs, rush built Beverly with the thought that because they bought her they would have a greater chance if do better versus those whom did not, as should have been the case.
I also understand the frustration of expecting an extra day during an announced extended event, having that cut and being given extra event tickets.
I see this from all sides, and what I think the fairest thing would be is this..
1 x Free Mirror Beverly sent by mail to all players, or at least the Top 7000.
(I think it's fair to say that anyone who was in contention to hit top 1000 at the phase shift, saw the event not extend and then gave up because they wouldn't be available when the event was supposed to continue should receive one and if they stopped at that moment, likely couldn't have fallen any more then that)
Players, who already fully fused Mirror Bev should be able to write into CS and trade the free by mail copy for the Equal 5* from the next event.
And finally, the Next Event should Add Mirror Bev as a full Powered, non winnable Bonus character.
I think this is the fairest solution for players &
It's what's best for business..
Wow. All that effort and Mirror Beverly is useless.
If only there were other medical nodes that weren't bugged.
Or if, say, the event were a hybrid event where rushing the character would have been useful running shuttle missions that had a heavy medical representation.
Clearly you should have focused on a Janeway for next week, instead.
I bought packs and levelled up my Mirror Crusher and I am not upset. She still gets more points on that one med node than others even if it is less. And she gives bonus everywhere else. And she gave full bonus in first half of the event in faction. DB made a mistake, they admitted it and tried to make recompense. We got six tickets and 4500 honor. That was more than generous. Be grateful DB did all this, many other companies never admit mistakes and never offer anything.
Let's be clear. This event has had more issues than any event I've been in. Kinda what you'd expect for a staff distracted by going home for Christmas break.
-Server out the first hour.
-End time not changed.
-Node bugged.
But suggesting someone would have spent differently because the featured Beverly 10500 per ticket (as opposed to 7875 bonus crew) would only score 8500 featured over the bonus crew's 6375?
I just don't think you are being honest with yourselves.
I'm fine with the way DB has handled the issues. The player response has been mind boggling.
But suggesting someone would have spent differently because the featured Beverly 10500 per ticket (as opposed to 7875 bonus crew) would only score 8500 featured over the bonus crew's 6375?
There is a large difference when you consider that score is multiplied by each ticket. For the 15 tickets we need to run through this god-awful grind of an event to remain even with everybody else, that can be the difference between you being in the top 1000, or the bottom 3000.
Yes, it is silly to get this upset over a game. But they are charging hefty amounts of money to players that want an edge in events. People are also investing a lot of time into preparing for events and expect them to go by certain rules which were established in advance.
Mistakes happen, I know. I screw up all the time myself. But when the company running the events takes your money and says oops, sorry we messed up, here's enough honor to give you 1/10th of a future character plus you'll need to do 4 more hours of tapping just to remain even with everybody else, that's not really a good way to make paying customers want to continue remaining paying customers.
I don't think this mistake is something that the game needs to shut down for, but the piddly honor they gave us is in no way a fair compensation. They are going to need to try harder if they don't want this to cause a major backlash from people who paid to do well in this event.
My biggest problem with the loss of the extra day is the extra threshold rewards that we'll probably now not be able to each (I'm looking at you ISS Defiant schematics).
Expeditions are great and I've had great success with them in the past but you can't grind up a threshold board that fast with them and reruns at best give you 100 extra points (half an hour and good crew will net you 10,000) but you try going from 250,000 to 750,000 that way. Yikes.
I think a better form of compensation would have included 600 ISS Defiant schematics so we at least all get a chance to own a level 1 version of that ship.
Not that I wouldn't want more stuff, but in exchange for the lost day (where we'd have had one more three-ticket refresh) they gave us six tickets. So you actually have a better chance at making the thresholds this way. The lost points on the broken med node detract from this though I suppose.
I bought the packs and levelled Mirror Bev but not just for the event, because we all need better MED in the game. The fact that she is barely better than 4* Mirror Phlox made me grind my teeth, but at least I've got some stronger MED crew for future use.
To clarify - I understand that it's only two nodes (though that VP actually = many shuttles), and it's only one of several avoidable issues impacting players. The issues piled up, and the initial response I didn't feel was very accurate.
Yes I would have still gone for Crusher. I waited for months for her and and Expedition and am having fun with it.
That doesn't make the statement true that it impacts all evenly. Anyone with any bonus MED crew is seeing significantly less bonus for that node.

And considering that this is not the first, or second, or even third screw up of this kind (although never of quite this magnitude) the fact is, these repeated foul ups have long been past simple errors, and are rapidly approaching at minimum malfeasance, if not outright false advertising, and bait and switch tactics. And the response of said company (especially initially) are laughable.

The premise of the post is that the featured character suffered more harm than other players.
I agree, and that RELATIVE harm is 500 points per ticket.
7500 points for 15 tickets.
Less than 2 shuttles from the faction portion. 7500 is what I get for clearing one elite node with mirror Picard, mirror Uhura and AOS crusher.
As someone who consistently finishes in the 950s, 8000 points takes me from around 1100 to 970 at the end of an event.
If you have Mirror Beverly and you risk missing out of the top 1k because of this bug you're doing something wrong. I'm making the top 1k using Mirror Phlox and Tuskeegee Mayweather. The only difference the bug is causing will be a couple places between 75 and 750. Hardly a significant change. If you'd like to submit a ticket for your merits, trainers, and 2 premium 1x portals, go ahead.
I don't have any event Med crew and I'm in the top 1000, currently. Picard is the man who's doing the vast majority of the work, followed by Mirror Tucker and Mirror O'Brien, and Mirror Uhura. Commando Crusher is slamming my Med nodes beyond the top two. Bevs would make things easier, but so would Phlox and I've never seen him in my game. I dunno, it's a few thousand points maybe but if you've got the dil to throw on event packs you could just pull a couple of extra tickets.

For the epic node, Mirror Bev takes 1000 VP loss while other bonus crew take 500 VP loss.
For the elite node, Mirror Bev takes 500 VP loss while other bonus crew take 250 VP loss.
1500 per ticket for Bev, 750 per ticket for others.
Whether this is a big deal or not is subjective. That it's inequivalent is objective.
That many if not most of the issues that arise in events and the game are largely avoidable if the company would listen more to the player base is I think also objective.
There is a reason why DB doesnt do expedition events much. They are more difficult to code and are therefore glitchier than other events. But a percentage of the player base really wanted one so DB listened and put it in. And yes there were glitches, but DB addressed it quickly and made amends. Enjoy the holidays and try not to get so upset about small things like this.

Sorry but we've had glitches on factions and galaxies in recent memory--- its just not paying attention and doing good QC, not some highly difficult calculus to get an expedition to work. This one is spectacular as it had several some of which were not related to it being an expedition. Only the node would be related to the expedition type, the server unavailability (which we've seen in other event types) as well as the end time discrepancy (which we've seen on other event types around Daylight savings time and other odd anomalous timings) are just related to someone screwing up NORMAL procedures.
I think we're definitely not going to see any more expeditions for a while again, but its the self inflicted gunshot wound of DB not doing actual QC of their code. They're gonna look at this event and noone will be buying extra tickets cause they are giving them away to cover their own screw up.
I can't start a new thread, so off topic: Can someone tell me where near-rank 1000 is in vp? Curious if it's worth it to waste some dil. My current vp is 382300, rank 2185.

So yeah. This event turned into a real mess. We had the crash start. I was doing awesomely the first half and was planning on an extended event. ... What's this? 6 extra tickets. But doing tickets takes time especially if I want to squeeze extra victory points on further runs. ... What's this again? The event's ending a day early?
... So I now will have to fit in 9 tickets total before the event ends, at noon, on Christmas??? Are you insane, DB? All my carefully planned work. I get this was a 'best fit' fix given limited time and resources but that really just botched my placement run. Everyone was given a flood of tickets so they can quick-rush points in when I was planning on milking the tickets for points, and there aren't enough hours in the day. Especially on Christmas! Of all the days to have extra dumped onto you. Christmas. That's why we were extending the event, weren't we? To make it easier for staff and players alike?
I agree. Mirror Beverly for everyone at the very least. Would like to see something for those who purchased the event's packs as well. Frankly I'd like about 5 x 10 uncommon boosts too given I wasted a lot of those on shuttles for it not to matter.
I'm not sure how you're going to sort out any kind of placement table for people for this event. The crash start, the shortened time, the hastily thrown-in and completed tickets. It's just a mess. Trying to say it's just an event, stuff doesn't go right, but when you put actual money in. SMH.
No game is without bugs and glitches. All you can expect is that the bugs and glitches are fixed or addressed quickly and that we are compensated, which DB did.
No game is without bugs and glitches. All you can expect is that the bugs and glitches are fixed or addressed quickly and that we are compensated, which DB did.
But this has gotten to the point that it is way beyond just bugs and glitches. It is approaching malicious incompetence. And at some point, the little crumbs fixes are not enough, especially in the way these fixes were handled. "Lets give them more tickets that they have less time to use, after people paid us REAL MONEY to be able to use things we did not take care of." No, this time, the crumbs for fixes are not even close to enough.
There are legal terms for what has happened this weekend. False Advertising, Breach of Contract, Defective Product are a few examples.
Players who had Mirror Beverly will still hit the other medical nodes for full points. Players with Mirror Phlox or Crusher varients got less, players using a different high-level medical crew even less, and those that lack high-level medical crew got none.
This may not have effected each player equally in terms of number of points lost, but it effected everyone the same relatively. Outside of edge cases, I doubt it effected the final rankings and the pile of honor was adequate compensation. I'm not defedning DB; these errors continue to plague events and are a QC failure that needs to be addressed but some people are overreacting.

Actually, NONE of the med nodes were giving full credit for Mirror Crusher, so you are wrong there.

Yes. My Mirror Phlox, Dr. Crusher, Commando Crusher, and CMO Crusher all received the appropriate 50% VP bonus on all nodes. The only problem with the issue node was that it didn't scale the total points for Elite and Epic.
