That happens if everyone is saving their McGuffins to the latest minute and turning them in in a hurry just before the event ends and then clicky-clicky ... server goes out because of all the interactions.
Just a shy hint: Turn them in as soon as you get them, that helps the server stay alive and it won't change your VP ... you don't get more if you turn them in later. We other players who would like to claim rewards thank you.
Yep we violated the first rule of this game to trust that DB can handle anything adequetly
I feel bad for everyone who was saving rare rewards until the end of the event.
Honestly ... I don't. They had all day to do so. They do themselves no good and us other players even worse, because we all have to suffer now from the server crash.

I could not really do anything in the last half an hour, one single action took me roughly a minute to complete and then I was getting error messages several times.

I’ve turned them in before as soon as I got them. Only to find that I lose a 1000 spots in the final hour because I assumed I was going to make the top 1000. It’s about strategy. And DB seems to be all about failure.
The last five minutes of the event, I was at 912 and trying to make a few more items to make sure I stayed in the top 1000. It just stated contacting Starfleet and did not warp. Tried logging off and then back on. I can not log on and do not know if I stayed in the top 1000. I will be upset if I am not in the top 1000.

This.
Crashed across the board.
Hey, I’ve been at it for 15 months but don’t understand the strategy of saving the rares. Why save them?
To screw over other players near the end...
Sisko: What are you gonna learn in the next few months that you haven't already learned in the last 300 years?
Ezri Dax: Oh, how to keep from breaking into tears for no reason...
Slow building errors for me, where recipes wouldn't craft or give VP started a couple hours ago. Restarts fixed it for a while. It finally got worse and died completely about 25 minutes ago.

I turned them in earlier but the servers should it’ll be able to handle this.
It should, but you and most of us experienced ones know that the servers can't take the load when ten thousands of players do the same thing. The same happens when Faction Events begin, that's also why the transmission opening is so tedious at kickstart.

I have faith that the support folks will do me right.

This might:
Compensation is the question now. That's a lot of VP down the drain from a lot of super-rare builds people had banked.
Brace yourselves for the outcry.
