Threads regarding issues go into Engineering Room, there is a sticky on the Bridge referring to the outage and this thread
My thread was more of a rant than reporting an issue. Which is why I put it on the bridge. Where people can discuss DB’s complete failure to take their time on something and get it right instead of pushing event after event down our throats in hopes of getting more money.
It’s all about quality not quantity with me right now. So tired of this.
There's value to your intentions but DB is trying their best to obfuscate anything negative so they buried your comment.
It's a closed thread linking to this thread where you can comment.
They're just trying to organise the forums. There's nothing nefarious here. If they really wanted to hide the issues, there wouldn't be a stickied thread on the Bridge saying "Outage".
The outage is a (recurring) problem that DB needs to resolve, but conspiracy theories help no one.
RNG stated that his comment was to discuss DB's failure in recent events not to report an issue, the purpose of this forum. "Turbulences, bugs or issues can be reported here." RNG everywhere didn't intend to report something but to comment on something going on. Based on the guidlines of the engineering room it does not seem to belong here but rather they are burying it here where less people go.
Ok, so they miscategorised a thread when trying to tidy up the forums. That's something that can be clarified and discussed with the mods. It's not some grand plot to pretend the game is wonderful and bug free or something.
Their miscategorization being a mistake and unintentional is your opinion and not fact. It may not be a grand plot or conspiracy like you say but they do have an incentive to spin things a certain way or move them out of the spotlight and that feels like what they are doing here.
A bunch of our fleet members were pushing rank 1000 when it happened, who were crafting at the time. I feel for everyone who misses a Troi or whatever rank they were going for as a result of the crash.
Everyone should be compensated up to match the rewards of at least 200 rank above their finish.
*edit: agreed Big_Daddy - plus dilithium (not just one or the other).
That happens if everyone is saving their McGuffins to the latest minute and turning them in in a hurry just before the event ends and then clicky-clicky ... server goes out because of all the interactions.
Uh, no. There would have to be more people playing this game - a LOT more people - to cause that. Well. Unless, the server is being hosted on a dev’s iPhone, I suppose. 😂
Let's take a major grindy event and have it finish on a day colleges and public schools are closed. And that a lot of people will have taken vacation from a major holiday. Last minute participation had to have been way up.
Honestly, this was likely to have happened last Tuesday with people trying to grind last minute from the expedition event, but family obligations saved them then since the event ended on the regular day.
All said, I blame the guy that made the bot post claiming DB was inflating their participation numbers. It was waving the red flag in front of the cosmic Karmic Bull to come crashing through the server.
The issues have been resolved and you should be able to log in and play now.
Compensation is being discussed.
Give everyone the rewards for one reward tier higher than they finished at, problem solved.
Not good enough. I had to extend a failed voyage because of this (and I am sure others did too). Some dilithium is also required.
That's the boat I'm in. Got the notification that my voyage was failing and by the time I was able to finally log in it had failed so I had to pay to extend.
They just 'compensated' us with a Mirror Picard. Lol. For those folks who missed out on a Troi, or multiple Trois if that close, seems like a not well thought out move.
Ridiculous insult to those that spent honor or money to get a 5th star to give him away now...why not a citation? Is it really that hard to figure out that is what people really want? People would have been happy then
I understand what they were trying to do by rewarding another Picard but it was misguided and inconsiderate of those that spent honor. 550 honor does not remotely compare with 50k honor. I wish they had considered another approach for compensation...

This doesn't hurt me 'cos I wasn't paying for this guy after the other mega eventers. But really, this was exactly the reaction DB should have expected and was a terribly unwise and short sighted move.
I'd have rather had a Dominatrix Troi. A citation, or better yet, crusher/troi/picard behold should have been given out. Chose your own adventure, make everyone happy. Tell CS that no questions asked if somebody has all 3 FF and asks, they get a citation and keep the piddly 450 honor.
So the people that spent the honor to FF Picard because they stated there was no way to get a fifth copy, and then spent money on the event to get Troi but slipped out of the top 1000 because of server issues get double screwed?
Giving everybody a free Picard is a major insult to everybody who has either spent honor or even worse, spent 25$ to FF Picard. I myself spent the 50k honor and I am extremely angry over this. This is the absolute worst decision DB has ever done so far. If I hadnt spent so much time and money on the game I would have instantly deleted it. Now I will have to wait 2-3 weeks just to get an answer from support which in itself is unacceptable.
I feel bad for everyone who was saving rare rewards until the end of the event.
Honestly ... I don't. They had all day to do so. They do themselves no good and us other players even worse, because we all have to suffer now from the server crash.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion ErisTheVorta, but I completely disagree with you. DB has had more then a year of these events with enough data to calculate server loads so they have 0 excuses for all the issues that have happened this Mega Event in regards to server crashes. That includes the starts and ends of events. The fact that you want to blame the server crash on users is just unreal to me.

I second this, just turn them in as soon as you get them and you won't risk the chance of not being able to turn them in towards the end of the event. This might force DB to just "auto turn in" the rewards upon their completion to save the strain on the servers at the end of an event.
Got burnt by this. Was able to log in about 10 minutes to the end and was rank 1030. Couldn't build 2 recipes in those 10 minutes. If they don't make it right by awarding more Trois I will abandon this disaster of a game. Word.
It doesn't hurt, or cost them anything to be generous and provide something you didn't earn. In fact, when done right, that increases good will. Good will increases spending.
There have been a lot of suggestions that were better, IMO some sort of behold was the best. But I struggle to find a worse plan than what was implemented, and a worse way to handle it.
Honestly, after a year and probably $1000 into this game, this is probably the issue that causes me to cease playing.
I’ll give it a couple days to see if they come to their senses, but you cannot say this in a form letter to your customers.
“I'm afraid we are not offering any alterations or exchanges of the provided compensation. We are also not providing refunds for copies of Mirror Picard that were purchased prior to receiving this copy. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.”
As annoying as outages are, especially when they happen at exceedingly poor times, they do happen. If anyone, not just DB, rented enough server space to be immune to outages due to high demand the costs would be stratospheric. With that in mind, outages really are out of DB's control, and I'd like to believe everyone knows this deep down.
What is in DB's control is the response, and we got one that was by far the biggest slap in the face I've seen in over two years. Anyone who spent 50,000 honor - which can take weeks or months to save up for people who don't buy a ton of character packs - or took the $25 "add a star and gear to level 50" deal got completely and utterly hosed once by the outage and again by the compensation for the outage. Anyone who didn't have enough honor to get that extra citation or who wasn't bothered with not getting a fifth star for Mirror Picard made out like a bandit and now has a demonstrable competitive advantage (to the tune of 49,450 honor or $24.99) over the rest of us. While I feel bad for the people who lost out on special ranked rewards, it's those of us who ended up spending $25 or 50,000 honor to get 550 honor back who got the worst end of the deal.
This especially chafes for me because on all previous mega-events I waited to take that $25 deal until basically the last possible moment but did it as soon as possible this time around, because I figured I wouldn't let anything stop me from hitting the reward threshold each week to get the remaining stars. If only I had waited...well, that'll be me from now on. DB loses $25 per mega-event from me and if it takes me forever to save up honor to buy legendary citations, so be it.
Lol really? I mean seriously?!?! Hahahahaahahhaaa! What a way to screw everyone that bought a useless 25$ double up pack. God sometimes DB is funny as F#*%! Wow. Great choice DB. Bravo! I will be submitting a ticket to swap my Picard with a troi. Good lord dB loves to make more work for themselves.
Well, its definitely not true..... misery does not love company, because I too am one of the suckers who paid $24.99 for that 5th Mirror Picard and it still feels horrible after reading about all the other victims on here! I mean, tbh if everyone else was paying $24.99 for that 5/5 Picard, I don't mind bankrolling Disruptor Beam from time to time (Shan gotta feed his children somehow too....and I've spent waaay more than $25 supporting his kids). But for SOME of us to pay $24.99 while others get to have it for free is just completely ridiculous! I'm hesitant to call my credit card company for a fraud claim, because I'm sure they'll put a block on all future DB charges and then who will support Shan's kids?! So, I'll just wait a bit to see what happens next, and hopefully DB wises up, but if I have to do what I have to do, I'll do it...

Sympathy for those that couldn't log in and couldn't finish cashing in rewards.

I'd like a trade in option for my 50k honor I spent.

other than punishing those who pushed for 1000 rank...
The BEST solution would have been a 5* citation... you don't "get" someone you didn't earn.
