The mood sure shifted quickly

Up to a few hours ago, the memory of the Picard fiasco, server crash at the end of the event and six “bonus” expedition tickets was still fresh... while thinned out, the mob was still:

Five free crew slots and a Mariachi Q later, and everything has gone:

So I take this means little or no “boycott” this week and I can look forward to having to pound out over 500K vp to have a chance of placing in the top 1000? 😅

  • I think a 2nd star for mariachi q will do that. Not so much the end of the boycott.

One of my squad leaders is leaving the game. And almost our entire fleet skipped last week's event.

If DB does bad, we say so and speak with our wallets. When DB does good, we say thank you. Rather simple.

But, if they do better, and people still leave/boycott, why would they even try to do better?

  • Not to be Debbie downer, but some may take the free Mariachi Q and skip the event.

DB doing "better" is a subjective opinion ... some are still waiting for DB to make the event right.

Which had some issues they might not be able to make "right". Might be hard to tell this far after the fact who MIGHT have gotten better Ranked Rewards without the issues.

Not sure they can unmess up that Event now.

But, they are at least doing stuff.

I have played games where we would have gotten NOTHING for problems that DB regularly sends out free stuff for.

They did not have to make the event right. The game was down for all.

I believe they eventually gave us 100 Chron. Picard was just a freebie that they added a comment about the event problem implying he was the resolution.

Keep in mind the same time the people were trying to move up in rank others were trying to hold their spot.

Users come and go lightning fast in the mobile games business usually. Hence DB also teamed up with Tilting Point.

And for existing and new users the better the project the better the chances for revenue...

That's the thing, I think the frustration will alleviate when we have error free events for a few times in a row. Sending a character out on the anniversary is nice.... and folks are giving appreciation for the most part. (As well as 5 slots)

That being said, I'm holding my breath on event execution if I play out this one. (Still on the fence though horguns......)

My post was made in an attempt answer the question posed:
But, if they do better, and people still leave/boycott, why would they even try to do better?

I was simply trying to point out that "better" is a subjective description. Not everyone believes a satisfactory resolution was reached and thus may still want to leave or boycott. For them, DB is not doing "better". Whether you agree or I agree with their assessment of "better" is irrelevant.

Actually what I was really trying to get a handle on was mood and participation rates. Last week was the first time in a long time I didn’t have to go hard and still do everything I wanted... this week, with all the new characters floating about looks to be a much harder slog, especially if people are playing again...

I stopped after I finished Threshold. {Ended up a little over, because of Crafting stuff I had parts for in Phase Two.} I got a 3* Dukat Card for finishing 5000 something. Usually do not see that high a finish if I just do the Threshold out.

  • Thanks for the Q...

But it changes nothing for me. Gratitude doesn't equal respect. That horse has left the barn.

Ditto I might get the monthly card in a couple days when it runs out but hope not spending like I have been
  • I spent some dil I had on hand but I haven’t done more than buy a monthly card. I might drop $10 on a 10 for $10 if I get it, but I’m moving beyond the weekly spend. The value isn’t there anymore.

I’m still waving my pitchfork until all folks get compensated for Picard. They haven’t been. That’s not OK.

The Q was nice. I appreciate it. I like the slots too.

I have been good at not spending anything on this game for the past two weeks and my bank account and wife seem to be a lot happier with me. Been saving all of my dil as well and no more voyage extensions as I am happy with 8-8 1/2 hour voyages that I am currently getting before running out.
  • I still await an answer to my ticket submitted last week. Until then Q can sit amid the messages. I have no desire to do more than collect dil until I receive a response from CS.

Tell your squad leader he will be missed like sore thumb that will be replaced by dozen good fingers

Yeah! You tell him, in fact, you WRITE him...yes, WRITE him an old fashioned letter. Extra points if you have a type writer handy. Actually, no, write it with ink and paper because that's a personal touch. We've all forgotten how to give those little personal touches in today's world.

Anyway - you write that squad leader a letter and you tell him that Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 says good riddance - in fact, that's bland. Since we are going for a personal touch here, make sure you add in a part that Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 insulted his mother. Oh, and let's add in some other color that Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 doesn't particularly care for the shirt your squad leader is wearing right now.

By the time you accomplish this letter and mail it to your squad leader, and he gets it and reads it, and falls on the floor in tears of horror that he has not met the approval of Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 and they are not friends, and then he got up from the crying fit on the floor and walked to the fridge to get a drink of water but along the way he stubbed his toe and screamed, and that scream woke up the newborn baby of your squad leader who started crying which led to his overly exhausted wife who just put the baby down to wake up and she came downstairs and hit your squad leader in the head and said "Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 was right about you!" - by the time you accomplish all that, you will have made it to the end of my post.

I hope it wasted as much of Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 's time to read it as he wasted my brain cells insulting a random person on the internet.

Woah... guess the torches and pitchforks haven’t been put away yet... mea culpa...

Not taking sides here but please be courteous folks...

All I wanted to do was gauge how active this week will be. Last week our fleet admiral went 772K for a top 50 finish (we are an active but generally not huge spending fleet). I slacked off as I didn’t want Dukat and only needed one star for Khan... but I was scoring about 700K just for a top 1000 finish during the mega-event. So for us poor monthly DIL card or F2P guys who don’t want to save up for months or buy 50,000 Chron, last week was a good chance to get some achievements without breaking the bank... that’s all...

Unfortunately, I doubt players who aren't on the forums will get anything because DB is only "fixing" this based on CS tickets

Anyone can submit a ticket whether they use the forums or not. Anyone who isn't happy with the resolution can escalate. It's highly unlikely that there are large numbers of people fuming about the Picard issue and unaware that they can't do anything about it. Most are probably either doing something about it, or don't care any more than they care to seek out the forum or other resources.

Don't worry baby, no one is mad at you!*
My honest guestimate is that come Monday afternoon when the event ends, the player sitting at spot 1000 will have 587,400 points.

*Except Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8. He doesn't like you.
  • Am I the only one that would have preferred a second star on Convergence Quark?

Yes, cause mine is already 5/5 :D
