I think people get too angry with db. No game is going to be glitch free. No game company is not going to make any mistakes. All you can hope for as a player is that when a game company makes mistakes that they own up to it and try to make amends. DB does that. DB has been far better than the other game companies I have dealt with.
It really is an ongoing case of shifting expectations. Yes, DB have made mistakes. But they've now given us 7 legendaries in 6 weeks.... (5 Mirror Picards, 1 Will Scarlett and now 1 Mariachi Q). Perhaps it's time to give them a break.
I've played a few mobile games and tons of non-mobile ones and you can count on one hand the amount of companies that are as generous with compensation as DB. And I love that about DB. I know that if something goes wrong that everyone will get something. It really does make playing a much less stressful proposition for me.
Now I just hope that the pitchfork wielding players don't ruin it for everyone else.
Don't worry baby, no one is mad at you!*

Yeah! You tell him, in fact, you WRITE him...yes, WRITE him an old fashioned letter. Extra points if you have a type writer handy. Actually, no, write it with ink and paper because that's a personal touch. We've all forgotten how to give those little personal touches in today's world.
Anyway - you write that squad leader a letter and you tell him that Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 says good riddance - in fact, that's bland. Since we are going for a personal touch here, make sure you add in a part that Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 insulted his mother. Oh, and let's add in some other color that Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 doesn't particularly care for the shirt your squad leader is wearing right now.
By the time you accomplish this letter and mail it to your squad leader, and he gets it and reads it, and falls on the floor in tears of horror that he has not met the approval of Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 and they are not friends, and then he got up from the crying fit on the floor and walked to the fridge to get a drink of water but along the way he stubbed his toe and screamed, and that scream woke up the newborn baby of your squad leader who started crying which led to his overly exhausted wife who just put the baby down to wake up and she came downstairs and hit your squad leader in the head and said "Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 was right about you!" - by the time you accomplish all that, you will have made it to the end of my post.
I hope it wasted as much of Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8 's time to read it as he wasted my brain cells insulting a random person on the internet.
Ah Frank, you made me laugh so hard. My wife already questions my sanity for playing this game. Doubly so now.
Anyhow Guest 7-9-6-7-4-6-4-8-1-6-3-5-3-2-8, to clarify: He wasn't my squad leader, he was one of my squad leaders for I was his admiral and emperor and overlord or something like that.
We have an opening in our fleet now obviously. We could use your 12 fingers. Surely they can pick noses better than eight fingers and two opposable thumbs. I always have trouble getting my thumbs up my nostrils. Do you too?

I was slightly hopeful and bought some of the Heroic packs, only to be reminded of how much this game can **tsk tsk**. 4 out of 6 characters I could have used, I pulled the other 6 times.
I was slightly hopeful and bought some of the Heroic packs, only to be reminded of how much this game can *hugs*. 4 out of 6 characters I could have used, I pulled the other 6 times.
DB is Lucy and I am Charlie Brown.
I have Princess Dax and Robin Hood FF/FE... and only 1/5 Sheriff of Nottingham... but suspect if I pulled the pack I’d get those two every time.
But, if they do better, and people still leave/boycott, why would they even try to do better?
DB doing "better" is a subjective opinion ... some are still waiting for DB to make the event right.
^^^^^ Truer words could not be spoken ^^^^^
There is a hell of a lot of difference between "Doing Better" and "Making things right." Right now, I am not seeing a lot of either, and there is ABSOLUTELY no consistency in either.

I play mobile games religiously. that said, i don't play a lot of different games. but i do devote a lot of time into a small number of games. At any given time, i'm usually playing 2-3 time-intensive games like STT, and have 2-3 more time-passers/quick pick-up style games. over the last 2 years, i'd estimate that i've spent significant time playing 2 dozen different games. before that, it was a lot more.
Of all the games I've played, I have never encountered any with glitches that DB has had in the last 2 years (let alone the last 2 months). Most give multi-week advance notice of changes, upcoming events, etc. I have never needed to submit a ticket of any kind. STT is the only game I've needed to reference a wiki or forum to play it, let alone keep up with it. heck, most of the games I've played don't even have forums/wikis (or if they do, they're superficial at best).
Now I get that DB is not as big/experienced as some of the bigger mobile game studios (ea, rovio, supercell, king, etc), but again - if a single bug like this happened on any of those games, they'd be done. DB does it on a weekly basis.
DB has a lot of brand equity saved up b/c of the Star Trek IP - patient fans who love the franchise so much that they're willing to put up with a lot just to get any kind of game.
And right after posting this, I get a "system message" in my game. Others in my fleet have gotten it, and other people have gotten it too (already 2 threads about it).
Imagine if this came up while popping candy crush candies, or flinging some angry birds. It would be mass hysteria.
But this is DB. Something has to happen on every day ending in "Y".
At least it didn’t crash the game, lol! Kinda sad I’m thinking that, though...

For what it’s worth, I wasn’t negatively impacted by the outage during the Troi event beyond the temporary but acute annoyance of receiving a free copy of a card I paid $25 to FF. I made out fine with 50k honor once all was said and done. (If they had not fixed that it would have been a different story.)
The free Mariachi Q was a great way to hit the rest button with a lot of players. Dunno if it was always part of the plan, but it was the right thing to do at the right time. The crew slots alone would have made a lot of people happy. Hard to complain.
First Officer - Task Force April

I still haven't renewed my monthly card and don't plan on it.
I'm thankful for the Mariachi Q and I think DB needs to keep in mind that plan of action.
If you're going to give crew away, try to give it before the event. If not, then just give a citation or the honour to get one.
Now if they come out with a character I am dying to have, then I'll probably wedge open the cashbox a little. But they have to come out with a new, good Bashir or Kir'Shara Archer or Kir'Shara T'Pol or the Crystalline Entity pretty much to get me to put forth a good bit of cash. I have to think if there are any other characters which might get me to spend, maybe if there was a Fairhaven event from Voyager, or Fury Kes or any good Kes really. Or if there was Dr. Lewis Zimmerman or another strong MED-ENG-SCI combo other than Leo.

I usually agree with Apollo, but not this time.
For me, STT is entertainment. It "competes" for my entertainment money with local restaurants and cinemas. My standard is not "Has the dev done a good job?" but "Am I entertained? "

Do you take frustration into that calculus? i.e. Does the entertainment outweigh the aggravation (if there is any at the time)
Unfortunately, I doubt players who aren't on the forums will get anything because DB is only "fixing" this based on CS tickets
Anyone can submit a ticket whether they use the forums or not. Anyone who isn't happy with the resolution can escalate. It's highly unlikely that there are large numbers of people fuming about the Picard issue and unaware that they can't do anything about it. Most are probably either doing something about it, or don't care any more than they care to seek out the forum or other resources.
I think the point being made was that people do not know about the whole "We are compensating people if they send a Ticket" if they are not on the Forums.

Actually MAA was pretty solid there after the first year. I played it almost all four years it was active. They acquiesced to too much pressure from some users and used the nerf bat too often however. (Brute was the poster child there, where they ended up rebuffing the nerf and it just got silly from there)

I would not say "pretty solid" since even near the end, most every time they added something, it messed up something else......

A lack of forums or wiki is more of drawback to be honest. Being able to agonize over the minutiae of a game is what some people want. Hell I don't think I even wanted a fiddly Star Trek game till I started playing STT.
DB does **tsk tsk** up more than they should and they don't always fix problems in the best way but they've yet to break the game in a serious way. The game precedes mostly as it should. You get some options to getting crew, you get some options to level that crew. Money might make things faster.
