Don't the announcements usually come out around noon ET? Might be time to take a snack break :)

Too bad they don't add some kind of requirement to prevent claiming the community rewards like this... What if everyone had this same attitude? Dunno, seems weak

I think usually right around then. I usually see them on Fridays I work when I get off at 1300. So, I won't know until tomorrow, I guess. Leaving at 1200 for lunch.

There is such a "Requirement". If you skip the Galaxy Phase, you do NOT get the Community Rewards.

I think he's talking about the people who craft 1 batch for VP and then drop out of the galaxy part completely.

If everyone had that attitude, no community rewards as we'd never have enough points. Fortunately that has not been the case in many moons.

Well, they ARE doing something in it. What could DB do? Put a minimum number of Points for participating for Community Rewards? Tier it, so that you have to do MORE Points to get the higher Rewards? Not everyone would be able that. Some {especially new players} probably do all they can in every Event. It's just not as much as those of us with a much higher Chroniton cap can do. Or a good Fleet. Or a deeper wallet.

I think that as long as people do SOMETHING that is about all that they can legitimately require, really.

Oh yeah I'm with you, I was just clarifying his point. I don't really see a way for DB to do anything about it anyways. On top of that I really don't care if people 1 batch and drop. We have consistently hit all Community Rewards for quite a while. I recall an event when I first started where we didn't hit the final Community Reward, but that was a LONG time ago.

I would argue that its unfortunate that's the case. If people didn't bother playing them there would be less of a cash grab from them, and DB would actually adapt galaxy events to make them more 'stimulating'

Voyages changed that to some level, mostly pre nerf... course that's why the nerfed em.

If the crafted items (and super-rares, mustn’t forget those!) were actually used to equip crew, I would not view Galaxy events as such a waste of resources.

Spot on peregrine. Give me the VP for actually crafting the damn things at the time I craft it and there'd be none of this turning them in at the last minute going on, but an actual useful item for doing so. Even if it was just credits, or some replicator rations.

    Two possibilities:

    1. Everyone has this attitude, because Galaxy Events are awful. Outcome: Nobody gets community rewards for a while, then DB changes the format into something people actually want to play.
    2. Everyone has this attitude, but this makes Galaxy Events easier, which some players see as an opportunity to do better than they do in other events. Outcome: Everyone gets community rewards, based on the participation of some. Those some are rewarded with increased rank rewards.

I'd say we're at a pretty healthy balance between Nos. 1 and 2.

(To clarify: among people who hold this attitude. Obviously there are others who legitimately enjoy galaxy events.)

Judge me for it, but I'm really mad that Bad Hair Burnham is going to sit next to my Princess Jadzia.

Don't bother, just let a shuttle opened during phase 1 come in after phase 2 starts. That'll give you VP gain, even if a loss, during phase 2 and get you rewards.

I'll be collecting community rewards with no crafting.

You do know that some folks just save up chrons and play and thus are not whales in the event right?
  • I used to - until I saw the light. No more boring clickfests. As to not being whales, only whales have any prayer of winning these events anyway, so there is no sense in trying. I do the minimum to get the rewards I want, and go do something else. If clicking for hours on end is your think, then more power to you.

There is a huge difference between winning (99% large marine mammals) and finishing top 1000...

Its a boring clickfest because Voyages gave everyone massive amounts of loot. Everyone has more Chrons and Components, thus they spend more of that for placement. I certainly preferred them in the pre-Voyage days.

PS Galaxies have been won by VIP0 players.

What if everyone bailed on Phase 2 in a Hybrid and we somehow failed to get the Community Rewards? Maybe the point would be made that we're collectively sick of the Galaxy format, and we'd stop being saturated with it. I'd gladly sacrifice some 4*'s and 10x pulls to get away from so many Galaxy and Galaxy Hybrids.

I kinda thought that was the point of the "players strike" last week.

Alas, the player base didn't hold firm against the powers that be.
  • I like galaxy events, especially if it's crew I want, plus plenty of honor due to the rewards. I don't buy crons, I either save them up or just try my luck.

I could do with a few re-runs of previous events where I wasn't strong enough to compete in last year (I appreciate many of you probably maxed certain characters in these events, but I didn't).

I know I will never be in the top 1,000, but really doesn't bother me that much

I prefer galaxy stages to Faction.

With faction you lose valuable crew for hours at a time and have to do shuttle missions for a faction you might not even need equipment for (like this one)
