Was this the whole thing started by the Napster/Metallica feud? Where for 10 years Metallica was all like “down with corporations” and “big business sells us out! We want our music heard by anyone who wants it!!!” Then they sued Napster for letting anyone have their music who wants it?
That takes me back. I remember others like Limewire and Kazaa, but yeah, Napster was the main one for a while. Before them, no company was really bothered about distributing digital music, and even after they were brought down, bringing about legit services was resisted by many. The legal issues have dragged ever since. I remember a case years ago of some woman in America who got fined about $250k for downloading 20 songs or something ridiculous like that. She appealed and the fine was upped to a couple of million. I can't remember what happened after that.

I know the feeling. If I put some effort in, I can sometimes just break top 2500, but that's about my limit. What's your usual placing?
Faction placement is usually top 500. This week I doubt it as I will lose half the event flying to Cuba Saturday and they have virtually nil internet let alone mobile data (GPRS if you want to pay crazy roaming charges). I managed to do OK in October flying out to Asia (send 9 hour shuttles board long flight) and December to Europe (same) but those places have mobile internet and airport WiFi. Cuba has nice beaches and rum but almost no internet... fair trade I guess...
Galaxy depends on if I care to get the 5*. I usually end up 800-900 if I play (I usually fall from 500 the night before and then craft in the last half hour as needed if I fall close to 900... got sniped once to 1004 place so I watch the last 10 minutes like a hawk) but can dip as low as 2500 if I only want one star for the 4* to complete old characters.
So mostly top 1000 every week... which is all I care for and I reckon pretty good for my just achieved VIP8... I just checked and it’s 1/10 the way to VIP14 but I bought a $10 for 10 in December to get there and the 20 sweet extra crew slots... got 4 beholds of which 3 were immortalized so my pack puchase Days (except using monthly DIL for faction event packs... like this week) is probably over...
