One last collection thought. It could be by events.
I will add I am one star away from immortalizing my only Dupe AoS Crusher. I too am concerned. I did not know dupes could be frozen. But my concern is wording says you can only have one crew. That is, if one is active you cannot pull one out of cryo.
But I guess I would never freeze AoS Crusher she is too useful.
This is not the case you can have have booth in Cryo pull one out and then pull the 2nd copy out. I have 2 copies of Mirror Uhura and 1701 Dax both have been in and out of Cryo as needed in various combinations. Remember the wording in the info box is old text from the start of the Vault.

Honor makes it possible to immortalize any crew, even a five star. It just may take some time.
That's an understatement. At the rate I accrue honour it would take about two years to immortalize one of my legendary characters. I highly doubt I'll be engaged enough in this game to play every day for the next two years (and even if I was I'm not spending all my honour on citations for one character).
I could test this myself, but I'm hoping to get a quicker (and cheaper) answer here: if you immortalise more than one copy of a character, does the second copy increment the 'achievements' count? So if I need one more immortalised card to reach a prize threshold, can I just FE a 1* that I already have in the freezer and reach the threshold?
Anytime you immortalize any character (duplicate or otherwise) the achievement counter will tick up. It doesn't affect the count seen in the cryo vault as those are unique cards immortalized but the achievement definitely DOES tick for extras.
Interesting note on that. Although the count in the cryo vault doesn't go up, it does store both copies of a dupe. I had two Seven in Blues and I thawed one out and there was still a copy of her in the vault.
EDIT: I didn't read the whole thread, I see now someone else already said this.
So, you can invisibly store 2 crew in a crow slot, can you invisibly store 3? Granted, serious overkill, but curious. I actually specifically thought that only a single crew could be cryo'd, end if you dismissed a second "immortal" crew he was lost, not frozen, so this is an interesting development for me.
At the rate I accrue honour it would take about two years to immortalize one of my legendary characters.
Did you do the math on that, or just throw out a number?
It costs 200,000 honor to immortalize a 1/5. If you meet your daily and fleet daily targets, that's 770 honor per day. With no other honor sources, that's less than 9 months.
Stargazer Picard was at least top 3 easiest. Had him 0-100 FE in about 10 minutes.
Yes, Lilac and others, CURRENTLY you can pull multiple copies out, as I have just done to protect them, but will that change with the Cryo update?
Inquiring minds want to know...
This was my concern, yes. And yes, I also know that you can currently have 2 copies of the same crew in cryo and retrieve them both — I have done it several times.
Somebody else had asked if immortalizing a dupe adds to your achievement (it does), but there is something odd that happens in the cryostasis chamber... the total crew count shown in there will no longer be accurate, as I believe it is not counting your extra copies. Not that this matters, really, except it will display a different number than your actual total. (And of course the cryo chamber only shows that you have one copy of any of those crew. What happens is, you unfreeze one of your dupe crews, and afterwards, you will see that you still have that crew member sitting there in cryo — your second copy.)
I encourage anyone with a substantial crew roster to keep track of them all on a spreadsheet, including whether or not they have been frozen. This way you will know for sure, in case you have multiple copies frozen.
P.S. Re your other comment: Stargazer Picard was indeed probably the easiest crew I have immortalized, as well. Even more so than Lt. Jadzia Dax and Ensign Tuvok, who were a total breeze.
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing. ~ Data, ST:TNG "Haven"

You need to join a better fleet and/or do dailies more often. It should only take 250 days for 4 5* citiations and that's without running a single voyage or airlocking a single character from a community pull or gauntlet free pull.

My fleet doesn’t hit all of the honor targets (I think we only get the last one for faction missions during faction events) but I managed to immortalize a legendary through citations in about five months anyway. This included honor won from achievements and airlocking excess crew from the handful of packs I buy.
It’s a grind and doesn’t alleviate nearly as much frustration as DB’s bigwigs claim, but it is possible to do if you’ve got a good fleet to help support you.
"– Immortalized crew maybe returned to active duty at any time via the Cryostasis Vault, as long as your Crew Quarters do not contain an Immortalized crew member of the same type. "
This would be a change in existing programming, as I have successfully frozen dupes and returned said frozen crew both to "active duty." This change would mean once frozen, and and duplicate immortalized crew exists, your duplicate in the freezer STAYS in the freezer forever.
I really hope this is not the case. All but 1 of my duplicate 4* crew are active and I use them frequently, because they have good stats for almost everything.
I have some 6-10 duplicate crew one on duty and the other frozen and I can recall to duty the frozen one anytime like you although I have noticed that and it would have meant for me an important pile of resources and time used in vain!
How hard would it really be to just add a count to the crew inventory? Like the regular inventory?
Are you some kind of beta tester? On my game the second copy doesn't show me a number 2 on the crew member.
Do you already have de Information that posted in the beginning of this thread? I haven't got that either and I have updated the game this week.

He's saying this is what it SHOULD look like, not that it's what it looks like for him.
So back to collections. I've been thinking about this probably way to deeply.
You can't have a 'Collect all Women from DS9' collection achievement with a reward. Why? They'll release a new one and it'll do something wacky reward wise.
I'm thinking it'll be 'Collect 5 TOS characters' or 10 or 50 or what have you. The question is will they make higher and higher goals as the game progresses or let things go stagnant like the Immortalize Character achievement that stops at 350 with almost 500 characters in game.
Freezing/unfreezing of duplicates still works for me.
I would hope they don’t change this as I previously have comments from DB staff saying this was ok. I would expect compensation for the time, effort, and resources put on creating duplicates if it is now not permitted and will be prevented.
As for collection types, they could have groups of collections depending on how it’s done...
‘Women of DS9 - Group A’ could be: 2* Kira, 2* Leeta, 2* Dax, and 2* Melora.
‘Women of DS9 - Group B’ could be: 5* Captain Kira, 5* Winn, 4* Princess Jadzia, 4* Mirror Jen, and 4* Waitress Ezri.
When new crew are created and added to the game, they just add a new Group for them when they form a new collection that DB are happy with... The collections then can have better themes and is not restricted or changed by future releases. I guess it depends on how many crew will be in each collection/group and what themes they decide.
I'm hoping the Collections will result in new and more specific premium portals to narrow the character pool. For example:
Vault - TOS Collection
Portal - TOS Collection 10x Pull with a guarantee of a 4/5* from this collection (W/Characters like Gangster Kirk, Young Khan, Yarnek, M113 Creature etc.)
OR
Vault - TNG Movie Collection
Portal - TNG Movie Collection 10x Pull with a guarantee of a 4/5* from this collection (W/Characters like Enterprise E Picard, First Officer Riker, Baku Worf, Dr. Tolian Soran etc)
This may cut down on a lot of the frustration that comes with the regular 10x Premium Portal pull maybe?
They could have each collection have 3 levels. Each level would have it's own reward
Level A of the collection only contains 1, 2 and 3 star crew
Level B of the same collection contains all of level A plus adds 4 star crew
Level C of the same collection contains all of level B plus adds 5 star crew
They could even have a special reward for level C.
For example, let's say they have an Enterprise regular uniform collection, completing through level C would drop a 1* Porthos (1* so no worry about FFing)
A level C Next Gen collection could drop a 1* Spot
A level C Voyage Home collection could drop a 1* George and Gracie
Collections are back in! And they'll be released next week... still no certain date yet on Kahless though, so you might've been a bit early to declare a winner. ;-)

Wish it was now. I think they said force upgrade in 24 hours. And that was a while ago.
Edit: 24 hours for the upgrade to go though.
But a week until forced upgrade.
So we got a little less than a week to go. oh well.
Force update is next week. It may take up to 24 hours for the update to be distributed to different app stores.
I was hoping to get my edit in before my mistake was seen. Almost made it. 🤷♂️
I’ve noticed a lot of confusion regarding the update, so I’ve been sort of pointing people back at Shan’s original post a lot. :P
Boy did I goof you said it in your comment before I originally posted.
