I assume this is some sort of clue about the mega event, although I'm afraid I don't know what it could mean.
They're trying to be cute again.
Like the binary message for the Borg, etc.
They somehow think we're not annoyed and are breath-taken with suspense in a good way.
Well if we look at the last line literally, a "cold war" that could tie in DIS, ENT, TOS, and even TNG.
In DIS, they say they are "at war" with the "Klingons" but in all reality, it is still largely a cold war.
In ENT, there is the big overarching subplot (which never got resolved) of the temporal cold war.
In TOS, the Federation is in a cold war with the Klingons most of the series.
In TNG, the Federation is in a cold war with the Romulans.
So if we think of cold war literally, that opens quite a few doors to characters.
Cornwall and Ash are part of the cw in DIS, Scotty is part of the cw in TOS, and Tarah is part of the temporal cw (whether she knows it or not) in ENT. Essentially being this vague could mean just about anyone from these series.
But some interesting crew which could arise, if indeed this is the theme, would be...
ENT - Human Silik, Admiral Valdore, Syrannite T'Pau, Kir'shara T'Pol, Kir'shara Archer, Lieutenant Talas, Aenar Jhamel, Rescuer Shran (from when he paid back Archer), Ambassador Gral (our first Tellarite)
TOS - Arne Darvin, Chancellor Azetbur, Ambassador Nanclus, Comm Officer Rand, Maab, Eleen, Krell, Dr. M'Benga
TNG - Ambassador T'Pel/Subcommander Selok, Commander Donatra, Centurion Bochra, Romulan Picard, Ba'el, Anij, Ru'afo (the Son'a vs Ba'ku was its own miniature cold war), K'mtar/Alternate Future Alexander
I excluded DIS because it's currently ongoing, so it's hard to say who could appear or not.
The temperoral Cold War did come to a conclusion in Enterprise. When Vosk failed to return to his time, Daniels showed Archer how the timeline reset itself and said it was over. Also by Archer presiding over the coalition of planets, that would not have happened if the Cold War wasn’t resolved. I’m sure the lack of info for the mega event is due to something happening in this weeks Discovery episode
It was resolved in a very slipshod way because the series was cancelled before the producers expected it to be. For example, the identity of the 'humanoid figure' was never revealed.
I did always wonder who that guy was but the Cold War was resolved
Poorly enough though that I didn't even realize it had been "resolved".
They didn’t get to go home after the Xindi crisis until the Temporal Cold War was resolved. After the timeline reset they got to go home
I get all that, but honestly when Season 3 ended, it felt more like a very sudden wrench thrown in the plans rather than any carefully thought out plot-writing from the show writers. More than likely, if ENT producers had known the show wouldn't go on to a season 4, they wouldn't have even written in the Nazified Earth at the end of Season 3.
I think we can all see a split-decision bad writing moment from a mile away when it looks like that. The only reason it was written in so abruptly at the end of Season 3 is to give just enough of a cliffhanger to pull fans from Season 3 to Season 4. The show was already on its last legs, the producers knew this. So why not end Season 3 which was full of drama already with...more drama to launch Season 4.
I give it to you there. All of a sudden they are thrown into WWII. They should have done some kind of homecoming first. I agree it was quite a WTF moment
Lol or just skipped the WWII thing altogether. Wasn't exactly even good filler material.
Yes I agree there as well. It was too easy and too cheesy a storyline
With all these temporal anomalies and timeline mixups and Mirror Universe shenanigans isn't it likely that in Star Trek Timelines the Temporal Cold War is still going on? The havoc might have been created by temporal anomalies and various factions from the future, possibly helped by Q, to gain the upper hand but somehow its gotten out of control. Not even Q really knows what he's helped achieve.
So the bonus crew for the mega event will be variants of Archer, Q, All Temporal Agents, Andorians and Xindi.
I assume this is some sort of clue about the mega event, although I'm afraid I don't know what it could mean.

I have very strong ideas about how Season 4 of Enterprise should have gone. Especially since I refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of These Are The Voyages. That episode is entirely non-canon for me.
Season 4 should have taken the Terra Prime arc and used that for the entirety of the season. We could still get the Romulans secretly tinkering in the affairs of the Andorians, Tellarites, and Vulcans. We could still get the dispute between Syrannite Vulcans and non-Syrannite Vulcans. We could probably even still get the Augment three-parter. And the temporal cold war could tie in even better.
Let met get to the real-deal of what I mean. S4 should have focused mainly on post-Xindi crisis Earth dealing with xenophobia and overcoming it which led to the founding of the Federation. S4 touched base with xenophobia here and there but it got lost in trying to push all these other episodes into the season. We see xenophobia in scenarios like when we see Defensive Phlox, and when we see Terra Prime but that's about it - 3-ish episodes or so.
The TCW could fall in line easily with a big overarching xenophobia plot by trying to sabotage Earth's relations with Vulcans, Andorians, Tellarites, and whomever else. I feel if the writers had written the Terra Prime plot as encompassing the season entirely, where Terra Prime would act as the culmination of xenophobia, and having TP even be in leagues with the factions of the TCW to instigate the Romulan manipulation of Andorian/Vulcan/Tellarite relations, then Terra Prime's story would be stronger. They could have 2 fronts on which to "turn" people to their way of thinking and make for a very convincing enemy as well as a strong challenge for the growth of humanity on a cosmic scale.
Arguments TP could make if tied in as the main S4 arc
1. Look at those Andorians, Tellarites, and Vulcans! Always fighting, always trying to drag us into their messes, this is how we got targeted by the Xindi in the first place.
2. We have a child crafted from the dna of two lovers who are interspecies, a Vulcan and a Human. Look at this sickly child! Interspecies relations will only poison us, it will lead to the annihilation of the Human species biologically!
The writers did go for this, but it was so weak! There's only so much you could hope to accomplish in a two-parter episode. These are very dark but compelling themes that the 4th season should have run with entirely. The best villains make the most compelling arguments and can potentially influence your moral standings.

It was kinda weird how they did a full season story then went back to individual episodes. I felt the episode where the guys son was stuck in transporter limbo was pretty powerful. Then of course the mirror episodes rocked
Thing with season 4 was that Manny Coto took over the creative helm. And he wanted to be free for his own ideas so he concluded the temporal war and that silly cliffhanger of season 3 as fast and at best as he could. That temporal war plotline had so so much potential, but was not used optimally anyway. Also cause Berman and Braga were burned out by now. As we saw "impressively" with their "big gift for the fans" - the final episode of Enterprise. Yuk, yuk, megayuk
Enterprise writers needed to find a way to get Jeffrey Combs on the show permanently either as Shran or another character. He was the best actor on the show and should have been highlighted like Seven if Nine was on Voyager.

Just write out Archer being COP Founder and make him captain of the now COP Enterprise

That was actually the plan for season 5. Shran was going to become a regular, the producers stated a few ideas of how they were going to do it in interviews and commentaries after the show got cancelled. Rewatch the Romulan drone episodes-- they were setting it up in those episodes.

I was looking forward to it. Supposedly, we were also going to find out that T’pol’s father was a Romulan spy disguised as a Vulcan diplomat which would explained why T’pol had trouble controlling her emotions.
If you watch the last episode, you can see T’pol starts to come to terms with her emotional side which is why she was acting like she was.

I thought that the humanoid figure was Archer... was it in one of writer interviews after series cancellation... I don't remember or discussion speculation at the time....
Well, if you don't mind "Expanded Universe" content, the first Star Trek: Department of Temporal Investigations book (Watching the Clock) does a good job of ACTUALLY resolving the Cold War plot, with the reveal of the Sponsor's origin.
Boys and Girls, they don't mean COLD WAR! They mean the war is old and cold, as in it's been over for a long time! Remember that this is "technically" supposed to be the post-Voyager era, even though people from all times are popping up. So from the standpoint of roughly 2378, the Klingon War of 2254 is VERY old and cold. As in over. A corpse. Needless to say it's definitely a DISCOVERY event.
Needless to say it's definitely a DISCOVERY event.
Why would a discovery event have Scotty as the frist 5* crew? That would be like during the klingon event the first 5* character was a Seven of Nine. Completely unrelated in any way.

I believe they're basing their hypothesis on the DS" Cornell recurring 5* and the DSC Celebratory Ash Taylor 4*.
I'm basing it on the fact that our 5* a week card is "Prisoner Katrina Cornwell," the fact that her silhouette is the teaser, and the fact that they're referencing an old war. All of those "clues" lead me to be nearly certain this event is focused not specifically on Star Trek Discovery, but Discovery's Klingon war plot line.
Which is sad, because I'd rather it focus on their much better Terran Empire plot line. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it.

No argument on the plotline, but what does that mean for the event? Are you asking for two events in a raw centering around the Mirror Universe?
That would be a bit overkill, I personally think.
Well first of all, I'm not DB, and I have no idea whether the plot developments of Discovery are as much of a surprise to them as they are to us.
Of course I don't want ANOTHER mirror event so soon after the last one. I'm just saying, of Discovery's plot arcs so far this season, I much prefer the Terran stuff over the Klingon war. Mostly because they've really done a disgrace to the Klingons.

Lol either way if its DSC or Klingon we're in for a boat load of folks having bonus crew like this current event.
I'd give a giggle or two if it's actually something a little left field like Romulan, lol.
I'm thinking Costumed for the trait of the month. 3 of the 4 crew sound like they qualify as being dressed up or down. The Age of Sail line comes to mind.
Then again, they could just list off a dozen dress uniform characters like "Formal Dress Wesley Crusher"
If it's costumed, then can we get another try at AoS Crusher? I'd love to have her!

It's a shame that Enterprise's first season was so boring and slow. It decimated the ratings and ensured that Enterprise couldnt run as long as the other series. It also is why I think Discovery is trying to do so much action and twists in that they were not guaranteed a second season due to the new format and Enterprise's terrible showing and so the Discovery writers are trying to overcompensate to ensure that the show gets more seasons.

I actually liked Enterprises 1st season more than any of the other temporal war ones. Course I thought the whole arc was terrible.
Broken Bow was enjoyable to me though. Too much decontamination gel throughout tho.
