So nxt week is another 12 max missions (6 per faction) .
And yes, i know thats how it even was communicated from the very beginning. But since then we always had 3 factions. So its a 1st 2 faction event.
But i appreciate the advanced notice. Won t buy missions before the event has started though. Learned my lesson this week.
But you can get a refund, should you wish
Also why not buy them when the event is live anyway?

I always like to make sure I have enough for my kickstart, at the very least. But I usually end up buying more rounds than I did in the beginning anyway.
That's fair, I don't kickstart, but can't you open the event, see what you need and then buy it, delaying the start of the kickstart by a whole minute?
Not trying to be annoying or anything, I just don't understand it

Every minute is precious at the start of a faction event if you're trying to rank as high as you possibly can.

For me, I usually start the event while at work. I get a fifteen minute break in the mornings, and I usually take it for the first 15 minutes of the event on Thursdays during hybrid or faction weeks. Most of the time, 15 minutes barely does it (the rest of the time, I’m glad I get to work early every day, it gives me a bit more leeway on things like this).
Plus, there’s a lot of lag at the beginning of faction events. Buying them in advance means there’s less time to spend “Hailing Starfleet...”
And for three-faction shuttle events, that’s three places you have to go to to buy transmissions.
Plus, some people don’t regularly keep a lot of merits on hand, so they like to buy it in advance to “earmark” the merits.

I'm in the UK, so ours start at 5pm, so 30 minutes before I go home and then 2 hours of being underground on the train so not much I can do before then, if I am lucky I can get a few shuttles back before that

Good for you and I mean that
But on factions, when I see someone after less than 5hrs with over 200k in points, you think to yourself,"I aint getting that 5*" so whats the point
I am thrilled by the addition of another Sato, she's been at only two variants since well the game began I think. I'm unsure if I'll go for her, simply because she's a 5* and now that faction events have been fixed where quickstart has pretty much been disabled, I have almost no chance of scoring her in my crew. It also depends on how her stats play out.
But again, super happy Sato is being given some spotlight.
Hopefully this means Kes and Archer will be given their dues soon too.

There's a HUGE difference in VP between rank 1 and rank 1000. I can almost always finish top 1k without spending if I want the 1/5. But that's mainly because I spent so much time developing a deep roster of immortalized crew. Having tons of bonus crew for every event makes a world of difference in rank. Every week I level event/bonus crew for the following week. I've done that for over a year now. And I did it so that I COULD get a sub 1k finish WITHOUT having to spend money. Persistence is everything.

I have...
Immortalized: Mirror Sato, Mirror Spock, Combat Medic Paris, Mirror Phlox, 1701 Jadzia, First Officer Saru, Captain Proton Paris.
Not immortalized but Lv.100 FE: 3/5 Delta Flyer Paris, 3/5 Laborer Spock, 3/5 Crell Moset, 4/5 Lt. Cmdr. Jadzia.
So I suppose I can work on my FF Kal-if-fee Spock, FF Ambassador Spock, and FF Forra Gegen.
There's no reason I can't push the top 1000 for my second time. Of course it will all depend on what Loque'eque Sato is bringing to the table.
I foresee DIP and SEC. I am hoping a SCI stat will be in there too since it seems like it'd be befitting.

I wish you luck. You have a pretty solid crew for this event. Definitely run a kickstart. Definitely be ready to go when the event starts. If you have enough speedups to run 2 or 3 rounds of shuttles with AFTER your kickstart, but BEFORE you hit 4k missions, that will put you way ahead of most. It's a whole lot easier to maintain a lead than it is to recover from a deficit. I advise AGAINST using overnights. If you do, you WILL lose ground as you go. So set those alarms.
@Shan thanks for the early bonus post. I agree that Princess Jadzia and Gangster Spock should have the Exobiology trait. They are still themselves, just in costume. They aren't holograms or anything. Please have "Exobiology" added to them before the event begins. Thanks!

In fairness, Klingon Bride Jadzia had earned herself one hell of a hangover.

Odd indeed. Princess Jadzia was, as far as I could tell, stone cold sober. Harder to rationalize her losing that skill.

Caretaker do not count - he's pure RNG thing. Da Vinci is gold and so is whale + non-whale part of top1000 (well, "I bought just one pack, I'm not whale!" RNG too) and will not drop in normal circulation for a year (if they will add him and not Jazz Muzician him). Paris is puple so much more people would be able to get him if they care. Everybody if he's threshold.

Yeah well it took me 6 months to get Guinan so that's all a bit iffy. Also, I didn't get Leonardo and neither did many other people so a super-rare with decent abilities in that department (especially the med/eng combo) would be sweet.

I mean I'm all for more ENG/MED/SCI combo characters, but you can't be willfully stubborn and just decide The Caretaker and Leo don't count because you either don't have them or they aren't a breeze to get. They still count, sorry about your or others' luck, but they still count.

If you are playing a largely super-rares game, they don't count for much. We had a similar discussion around Med crew - when we'd had some nice legendaries over the last 6 months but not a single super-rare.

Bad points: I always do badly at faction events and aren’t really interested in Sato or Paris.
Overall... yeah okay might be worth doing, but probably won’t be buying any packs

This event may have lower overall scores due to 12 mission max, but right now, 32 hours in, 200k will get you rank 14.
If you're competing for better than 1/5 in faction, there's probably spending involved, or at least a lot of time reducers and large bonus crew pool.
But a 1/5 is easily doable without spending, and without the crazy scores at the top.

Yeah well it took me 6 months to get Guinan so that's all a bit iffy. Also, I didn't get Leonardo and neither did many other people so a super-rare with decent abilities in that department (especially the med/eng combo) would be sweet.
And I want him to look like the picture I posted.

I mean I'm all for more ENG/MED/SCI combo characters, but you can't be willfully stubborn and just decide The Caretaker and Leo don't count because you either don't have them or they aren't a breeze to get. They still count, sorry about your or others' luck, but they still count.
Captain of the voyage vessels: Queen of Bashir, Landsknecht, and Sunspear, the first luxury starship cruiseliners.
Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.
If you are playing a largely super-rares game, they don't count for much. We had a similar discussion around Med crew - when we'd had some nice legendaries over the last 6 months but not a single super-rare.
Some of these things are really not easy to get.
