Congrats on somehow making the game worse. Repeatedly being booted from the game because of "failed" checks (that were nearly impossible to line up exactly), along with connection issues, made the event frustrating and unplayable at times.

For bonus points, having my skirmish setup cleared when I came back into the game after being booted, and having to waste time to reset it was extra awesome 🙄

After allowing rampant cheating to happen for too long, you've now overcorrected and swung it in the opposite direction. Punishing players who weren't cheating, by making extremely precise checks that were unfair, was not the answer.

Bravo 👏🏼

Agreed. I failed it a few times on my phone. It needs to be less sensitive, but I realize it’s a process and tweaks will be necessary. There was quite a long discussion on Discord with some good ideas. Even a recommendation to have the Ktarian Headset be the bot check as it would random every time. 😆

• I agree it's possible. I never had the chrons, stamina or motivation to do that for 12 hours or more four days in a row, but it can definitely be done.

Greetings <@&1199035359326130299>s,

We want to inform you about a recent decision taken to maintain a fair and enjoyable environment for all players. After thoroughly conducting an internal investigation, combined with team and player reports, we have identified a situation where a player was found using tools in a way that disrupted the competitive balance within our community and events.
As a result, we have issued a suspension of this player's account until further notice. This decision was not taken lightly and reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring fairness and integrity in gameplay, especially during the holiday season.

We want to emphasize that any attempts to exploit or undermine the integrity of the game will result in appropriate penalties, as outlined in our guidelines. This is essential to maintaining the standards of fairness and respect that define our community. Additionally, today we would like to share some updates to our anti-macro system have gone live today. These improvements are designed to strengthen our ability to detect and address actions that could compromise the competitive experience for others.

We deeply appreciate the support and vigilance of our community in helping us uphold these standards. If you have any further concerns or observations, please reach out to our Customer Support, Community Team, and Moderation.

Thank you for your understanding and continued dedication to making this community a fantastic place for everyone.

Once again, this shouldn't have to be posted here by a player. Thank you, @Tsunkatse Siete , but this is still hard to understand why they aren't posting on their official forum 😒

@STT Community , why aren't you not making these posts here or in-game?

I still feel like this doesn't go far enough. Cheating goes not just against fair play principles, but the very principles of Star Trek, on which this whole game is based on.

A potentially temporary suspension (until further notice) is unacceptable for blatantly cheating. A permanent ban should have been given. There should be zero tolerance of this kind of behaviour.

Also, there are several questions left unanswered, including:

● Who was the cheater? We can probably guess based on some of the accusations made, but multiple people were accused. The player should be named and shamed IMO.

● Were any other people found to be cheating or just the one? Were any others even investigated for cheating?

● Was the cheating happening during only one event (unlikely) or multiple? Which event(s) were found to be unfairly engaged in? Were any others investigated for similar issues?

● What is being done to ensure that there isn't a lapse in observation/oversight for a long period again? Holidays shouldn't be an excuse. What steps are being taken to prevent a similar situation from escalating like this one did?

If you want players to forgive, move on and accept this resolution, full and complete transparency is not just good protocol, but absolutely necessary. A lot of faith was lost and a lot of (justified) anger has been caused by this situation.

Not to mention that we lost the Big Book (possibly permanently) because this situation was allowed to happen.

I've been around a long time, but this incident is possibly the most damaging to the game yet. You've lost good players and resources that will probably never return.

This is a good start, but far from enough.

It's been ten days since I've initially asked. This is the third time I'm having to ask these questions.

@STT Community has posted multiple times since. They've been tagged by myself and other players. They are clearly ignoring legitimate questions.

ENOUGH.

This half-hearted effort at trying to address these concerns, to sweep this under the rug, to force us to move on without answers is unacceptable. I am not letting this go. I will continue to bump this to the top of this forum, as long as necessary. Especially as it seems that we have lost the Big Book, permanently, as a result of this nonsense.

We players deserve answers. We deserve transparency.

We deserve the truth.

I agree with your assessment of the situation.

However, we already know the answers to the questions you asked.

Calimachus was the cheater who got tossed

Im sure they will be reinstated at some point, if they fork over a “penalty assessment”.

No one else was or will be investigated for cheating in this incident.

If and when someone develops a method to get by the anti-cheating measures, they too will enjoy getting away with it until a member of the community (not a member of the wrg/tp team) compiles sufficient evidence, and finds a way to bring it to wrg/tp’s attention such that they have no choice but to act on it.

Nothing will be done to prevent more lapses in oversight, as lapses in oversight are part of the built in experience of playing this game.

• Most actual Battles take a couple of seconds with the speed up option. So, an average of 55 seconds a Run does not seem impossible.

Yep. When Skirmishes first started, I began testing out all of my ships to see which one was consistently the fastest. I continued this testing for the next 4 or 5 Skirmish events, until I settled on a particular ship that I still use today. With that, and the same crew lineup I've been using for at least a year (other than a main event crew in one slot, of course), I can usually do a round of Skirmish battles in just under 50 seconds. A bit more if I spend dil for bonus rewards, which I have been doing a lot more since I loaded up my dilithium stash. ;)

What I've always wondered, however, is if the game is substantially faster with a fiber connection, for instance. I mean, I get between 230-300 Mbps download and 100-150 Mbps upload (which is plenty fast for my needs), but I know there are folks out there with bandwidth that would put that to shame.

Download speed is one thing. Ping speed should have a much bigger impact.

Some people do not get specific. {Not saying Shaw is one of them.}

I'm willing to share mine.

The Artifact with any Event Crew, plus three Sledgehammers.

I used {left to right} Dress Uniform La Forge, Chances Taken Kirk, Tactical MACO Mayweather, and Chances Taken Kirk in the seats.

But, there are other Sledgehammers that work. Both Battle Beverly and Dread Pirate Q work on the Artifact, because it has Boarding.

Other options:

Chuft-Captain {one-time use, but 425% Damage}
EV Suit Gorn {425% Damage, twice}
AGIMUS {400% Unlimted Boarding Trigger}

The Wiki has a list. Just look for ones without a Trigger, or the Boarding Trigger.

Greetings Captains, We mentioned long ago that the player was permanently ban form our game. If your or any other captain, encounter other players not following the community or game guidelines (cheating) you should:

A) Open a ticket with our CS Tagging me Polo on the ticket (or just mention it on the ticket)
B) Report it on our Discord Server
C) Slide a DM to the Discord Server Admins with proof

This was mentioned long ago, back in January when we heard all of your concerns about this topic. We will continue to provide voice to your concerns to the devs, so please let us know. LLAP

@STT Community What do I need to get your attention and get these questions answered? Start posting this on every thread? Create multiple threads daily to make sure this forum is only this issue? This is absolutely ridiculous that weeks have passed and you REFUSE to address legitimate questions and issues.

I disagree. Anyone who cheats at this game is a destroyer. If the destroyer’s are publicly named and shamed, it might better prevent future cheating by showing the community that they will identify you.
• If I remember correctly someone raised a question about the length of the ban - is it permanent or a set period of time? It would be nice to know.

Even if you don't think they should be named and shamed (agree to disagree), that was one of many questions asked. None of the rest had anything to do with calling the cheater out specifically, and it's still being ignored.

That was one of the points I wanted addressed. It seems only fair for them to do so.

But, we highly encourage you to report us specific players of practicing unfair gameplay

While you can’t name the player (nor do I think we should name/shame), we should already all know who it is at this point as word travels. I am curious though, why that player is still listed as the winner of that event on the leaderboard. Shouldn’t the individual have been removed from the leaderboard, especially since it clearly was not won honestly?

Aside from the fact that you addressed your answers to the anonymous poster, and not myself, the one who asked them repeatedly, it is good to finally receive a response, @STT Community . I will address each one separately.
@guest_1677442946962966

● Who was the cheater? We will not disclosure the Cheaters name but he was seen changing his name on the leaderboards mocking other players

I do not understand protecting a player who not only cheated, but was also permanently banned. It would go a long way towards good faith and transparency to just name the player. Privacy laws or libel concerns would not apply in this case. It would seem to serve no purpose and only make players feel like we are being kept in the dark. It also doesn't address the fact that multiple people were accused, which I will address further below.
@guest_1677442946962966

That was a non-answer if I've ever heard one. Why the evasiveness? It was a simple yes or no question. This just reeks of deceptiveness and excuse making.

Your non-answer seems to imply that no one else was even investigated, let alone found to be cheating. Considering there was multiple players accused of cheating in this thread alone, that is extremely underwhelming and unacceptable. How are players supposed to be able to have any faith in your system being fair if no one else was even looked into?

Also, if it requires so many resources to investigate, then something needs to change on your end. There has to be a way to better way to police the game internally. The onus should not be on players to investigate and report cheaters. That is YOUR job. Not ours.
@guest_1677442946962966

● Was the cheating happening during only one event (unlikely) or multiple? We've found on multiple events, and we mentioned that those being affected can look for compensation with our CS team

This seems to contradict your first response, or at the very least, muddy the waters. You said the cheater was changing their name to mock players during the event. That seems to imply that it was only during the event the player was using their name to troll players. This is another reason why it seems so silly to not just name the cheater.

Furthermore, you do not say WHICH events that were affected by the cheating. Do you have any intention of letting us know how many and which events were affecting by the cheater?

Aside from the fact that it seems insulting that players who were affected should have to chase down compensation, how are we supposed to know when/if/who was affected, if you won't even be clear on which events were in question? How can CS tickets even be created to get what is fair if you won't even tell us which events are affected?
@guest_1677442946962966
● What is being done to ensure that there isn't a lapse in observation/oversight for a long period again? Holidays shouldn't be an excuse. What steps are being taken to prevent a similar situation from escalating like this one did? This one was an exception since the entire Community team was out, we've established rotations inside of the team on holiday season to avoid this happening again

While it doesn't change the fact that there never should have been a time when no one from your team was available, this is appreciated as it seems you are at least taking it seriously enough to make sure it does not happen again.

It does not however excuse how long it took to finally be dealt with, nor for how long it took to finally get answers. Your company has to do better.

Also, I did ask in the past why players had to copy and paste announcements from other sources (such as Discord) instead of you making announcements here on the forum, or in-game, as has been traditionally done. Multiple times during this fiasco, things were posted onto Discord instead of being responded to here. It seems counterproductive to expect players to download an addition app, when you have a built in forum of your own here. Not to mention, the message system in-game.

These should not be ignored, and it is concerning to see, especially when now you are making a push for players to join ANOTHER app, as seen on the welcome message where you are pushing WhatsApp. This will only muddy the communication issues further, and is not helpful when players already feel ignored.

Will you commit to ensuring that these messages/announcements continue to also be posted to the forum and in-game messaging systems?
I am curious though, why that player is still listed as the winner of that event on the leaderboard. Shouldn’t the individual have been removed from the leaderboard, especially since it clearly was not won honestly?

@STT Community

This is another fair question, and I hope a response will be coming soon.

I still don't think that these steps go far enough to compensate players for all the issues, frustration and effort in having to drag out a proper response to all of this. We had to expend a lot of time and energy to get answers that should have been forthcoming and professionally handled MUCH SOONER. This also doesn't address how the delays, evasiveness and to put it bluntly, incompetent way this situation was handled caused even further player mistrust and lost faith. Nor does it address the significant loss that having the Big Book taken down in response causes.

What is being done to compensate us for all of the above, and to give players a real sense that this is being taken seriously, to ensure that real change will happen, and this isn't going to happen again?
• Wow @STT Community -
You have banned the known cheater, SSR Callimachus, for cheating in multiple events.
kniniai1jxek.png
Top work. They have another account doing just fine and playing. Unless someone is just having a go overthere in SSR, it is right obvious to me that it was just a paper ban to shut everyone up, and you let your paying player back on another account.
Clearly the message is there are no consequences for cheating here.

The account is gone so the person would have to start at day one and acquire everything all over again. The only way to ban the player is by IP address or perhaps by device (if detectable). The only (remote) downside is if there is another person that plays the game with the same IP address and/or the same device.

Much like Namer he got a warning to my understanding. There wasn't a way to actually prove anything other than going off what players said. They gave all the players a chance to make their case. Also, if your a guest account, you do realize that's your DBID in the string of numbers? I would change that as right now people can steal your account or make purchases if people feel generous (bad if a vip0).
• Ill just say it, the destroyer’s account was not the cheater.

The person controlling it was.

All accounts owned by the scumbag should be promptly deleted.

If the little trout sniffer wants to start a brand new account on a brand new device, so be it.

Until they cheat again.
