I think the Galaxy format needs a complete overhaul anyway. It is the worst and most tedious event type by far, and with a few tweaks could be much more worthwhile and fun.
Not to be the troll, but I turned in all 656 Super Rares at 9pm(Central) Saturday night. I jumped up to like 110 Ranking. I finished with a ranking of 294.
Since all I wanted to get was top 1000, I think I accomplished it in 2 and a half days.
If you are mad about people turning them in last minute and it destorys your rank then you didn't position yourself originally to be successful. Your failures shouldn't make everyone else have to change theit tactics.
Just for the record, for everyone that thinks I was whining and complaining about my rank, I finished with a rank of 373. I was between rank 75 and 400 the entire event. I was in no way complaining about missing out on the legendary because of a simple strategy that a few extra chronitons will always beat out. I also live in North America so I have a favourable event end time.
I was looking at starting a discussion about a game condition that I thought negatively impacted many other players and I thought a discussion about it could help even out the playing field and keep events fun for as many people as possible. Since I was wrong (my apologies for trying to help out some fellow players in this game that have already voiced their opinion here and elsewhere), I ended my discussion on this thread. No further comments need to be directed to me as I won't be making many posts on the forum pages moving forward. Thank you.
This is a solution looking for a problem. It's only an issue if you think in terms of "I know how many points *I* really have right now, but I don't know how many points *everyone else* really has right now." You actually do, though because until and unless those SR's are cashed in, they don't matter.
Realistically, you want to know how solid your ranking is at any moment so you know how comfortably you can stop playing. I would suggest basing that decision less on what anyone else is doing and more on how you feel about continuing to do it. If you're sick of crafting, stop crafting. If you still have some left in the tank and you want to be as competitive as you can, keep crafting. You don't need to know how anyone else is doing to know how you feel about this.
Actually even Usain alwasy looked behind him to see *how everyone else* is doing
I am pretty neutral on this topic, I would like galaxy events either way... However I also do not see what the big fuss is about, we all have Life commitments etc that can interfere with when the RR can be turned in etc. So not sure how people feel that some people have advantages over others.
Perhaps it would be better to change up the ending times for these events, on a rotation of some kind, like others in the past have suggested, thou not sure how practical it is.
Also, even if you wait till the end for turn ins, there is still no guarantee that it will give you an edge to win, as you have no idea how many people are also hoarding, so basically its going in blind regardless.
I mean I guess if you want a completely predictable scoring, like every other event in this game, then ok, but seems a bit boring;)
Personally, I feel when in doubt, always do more then you think you should, sure you might blow a few hundred chrons or so by going over the top, but isn't that better then wasting all your effort by not getting the rank you hoped for?
Bottom line thou, regardless of how we feel about it, I think DB is going to do what it wants to do...

I will take you at your word when you claim you were just trying to start a conversation about this subject, and in the spirit of friendship and community offer up some advice: if your goal is to have a discussion/conversation, consider not titling your thread "Time to get rid of the galaxy event super rare carry over". That is not an invitation to discussion, that is a borderline aggressive declaration and as such, some folks read your words as a challenge and rose up to meet you head on.
If I may offer a second piece of advice, don't take it so personal, I don't think anybody here is in any way mad at you. Take a deep breath, count to 10, shake it off, you'll be OK. We're all friends here. We can have a disagreement and still be good to each other.

Right on about the title thing @ByloBand. The title sounds like the OP doesn’t want this open for discussion, but wants it that way and that’s that
Why does the OP get to decide if we're done talking about something?
Are they trying to take their ball and go home?
The OP got plenty of support and plenty of push back, it's obviously a real issue that the community is not of one mind on.
I have sympathy for those that can't wait till the very end to see how much effort they need to put in, but I also think that they are wrong headed to be thinking in the terms they are. I also couldn't be there for the end of the event (work) so did more than I knew I absolutely had to and placed #166. It turns out the OP knew to do that intuitively too. I just don't see what the issue is.

Also if you want one of your threads closed than contact Shan, or JazzRiker). I once asked Shan to close one of my posts because people were sort of being a bit rude.
I would really like to know if the same "mechanic" impacts galaxy events for the purpose of super rare odds on combines with an AND crew specialist. Is the game really suggesting the best option for me? Over several hundred combines it makes a real difference.
A reminder that you do not have to post if you have nothing productive to contribute and also a reminder to remain civil when disagreeing. And to not take it too much to heart if not everyone agrees with you, that makes for a healthy discussion

I have no idea whether the displayed percentages are accurate, but it's always worth tinkering a little with crew selection. I remember a Galaxy Event some time last year in which I had a paltry crew. For one of the item recipes, thanks to bonus traits, my highest crit chance was 2* Enterprise-D Picard. Whoever the threshold 4* was, they didn't have either of the two AND skills and I didn't have anyone better with that particular combination.

Or it could have been what seemed an obvious joke.
Apologies........
