What's clear from these latest hybrids, skirmishes aren't making money. So they are going first followed by an event type DB can monetize more.
I expect to see some kind of adjustment to skirmish to either reduce chroniton drops or do something else to encourage more spending.
I'd be curious how many people do the +10 dil reward doubling, since their monetized value in chrons and honor (for those that need or want them) is some of the best ROI in the game (3:1 - 4:1 vs cheapest 'market value', by my estimate). Micropurchases of 10 dil rewards can add up over the course of a skirmish, but no telling how many folks do them....
how do you compensate for the RNG factor in how often you'll get intel/credits vs honor/chrons whenever hitting the second reward? it's not reward doubling, it's a second roll for an additional reward is it not? (can you tell i've never tried)

Correct, which is what makes it completely not worth it IMO
Braxton? Hopefully it's the actor from Future's End.
I totally forgot there were two actors. I only remembered Bruce Magill playing him. Wonder whose likeness they licensed?
I think "Captain" Braxton will be the McGill character. He commanded the Relativity but was more of a temporal agent in the Aeon.
And McGill seems to be ubiquitous enough to let his likeness go to the highest bidder.
If DB wants to make more money off of the Skirmish half of events, pull out the intel and credits in favor of more honor. More chrons aren’t necessary and I think might even be reduced so as to lure us into buying the $10 chron deal in the time portal that usually appears during Skirmish and Galaxy events.
As for this event, Braxton is fun but not someone I would grind for. Troi is a nice add and the Scimitar will be a great ship when we can get more than 575 schematics for it, somewhere in late 2019 or early 2020.

Chrons are the only reason I go hard at Skirmishes so as long as they aren't modified I'm good. The intel rewards are a joke in Skirmishes and the credits are just kinda "meh"

A few skirmishes back I did +10 dils the whole way through and logged all the rewards. Based on the cheapest $/dilithium in the store, an assumed chron value rate of $9.99/1250, and (I forget how I monetized honor), I came up with the 3:1 - 4:1 ROI ratio. I think the value was roughly split between chrons and honor. (The credit rewards are essentially without value). I'm not saying the store dilithium or 1250 chron deals are good, just that that was the basis of the monetization.
Because the +reward cost goes up after +10 dils, the ROI drops after that. Of course no dil / free is still the highest ROI if you are able to spend your whole weekend tapping (but I'm not sure if that yields enough chrons to be self-sustaining in generating intel - +10 dil definitely enables the infinite virtuous cycle) :-)
There was some interesting variation in the drop rates between phases - one phase favored chrons and one favored honor. I haven't re-run the experiment (it was agonizing) so can't say if current drop rates are the same.
Dill is used for multiplying rewards. The first multiply is 1.5x and it costs 3 dil, the second is 2x and it costs 5 dil, a third one is 2.5x and it costs 10 dill, and the last one is 3x multiplier and it costs 15 Dill.

Chronitons are literally the only reason I grind in skirmishes. I always get back the amount of chronitons I put into it and then some. And get to level a bunch of cards at the same time.
Very poor decision to make the Skirmish first when most players are more busy and won’t be able to do as much.
Or perhaps they thought of it this way:
Faction event VP is dwarfed by the other event types. We've tweaked faction scoring by monetizing boosts and adding rental shuttles, but it still doesn't quite compare. So, let's try putting the higher-scoring but more-time-required event on most people's workdays so that scoring is diminished and the faction phase becomes more competitive for the final ranking.
Not saying I'm happy about it either, but I can imagine this being said at a planning meeting.
Looks like full skirmishes aren’t happening anymore?
I’d probably go a lot harder at this event if DB hadn’t just given some folks 1000s of chrons and speed boosts with yet another unbalanced bug 🙄
Am I the only one who feels really crummy when you find out others have been getting away with an exploit and keeping it hush-hush to gain an unfair advantage? Kind of ruins the community feel here, and certainly discourages any further effort/spending.
Bruce McGill, you say, eh? For his event on 1/24, would it be too much to hope for a Quantum Leap-themed event, with an appearance from Archer, as well as Dean Stockwell's character?
Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing. ~ Data, ST:TNG "Haven"

So I just rewatched Future's End. The Aeon Braxton does identify himself as "Captain Braxton" also. So either version is possible.
(I still think its McGill though)

Yeah, soon as I saw it on the board I let rest of my fleet know.
Not bothered about chrons, but was hoping to farm a pile of credits today after burning through a few million of them FEing crew. Would have been nice spending the next few days replicating annoying higher level items!

Exploit? Are you talking about the obvious macro users?

I adore this. North Star Archer could be the repeat Super Rare to keep the time travel theme for a story.
I wonder what would have happened if the Borg had assimilated Betazed? Would they then been able to assimilate people telepathically? At the very least, it would make them even more unstoppable. Or would encountering a planet of people interconnected by their thoughts yet remaining individuals have caused chaos in the Borg hive mind?

Curious to see Assimilated Troi, and excited for Braxton to finally make it into the game.

Thank, Robow. No I want a Borg Diamond!!!!!!!!

+ the Scimitar? I don't know how they got the licensing, but that is a mega-monster cool ship! (IMHO)
Why is nobody else getting excited about this?! A new faction!
oh yeah! FInally ;-)
Also, this might be the first real chance section31 has of losing a faction event ;-)
No offense. But most of us have known about it for about a week........
