I wonder what would have happened if the Borg had assimilated Betazed? Would they then been able to assimilate people telepathically? At the very least, it would make them even more unstoppable. Or would encountering a planet of people interconnected by their thoughts yet remaining individuals have caused chaos in the Borg hive mind?
I would wonder about a feedback loop. Getting telepathic information which would be transmitted to the collective that would then be sent by the collective, which the telepathy would then sense in other members of the collective and transmit back to the.... oh no, I've gone cross-eyed.
Also, I wish the new Borg with MED was the legendary. I will go hard in the Skirmish for honor and chronitons. But what will I do with Braxton? Probably leave him sit at level one and contemplate the airlock from time to time. A Borg with MED would have been much more valuable to me. Plus, I do like Troi.
@AviTrek I played one of the skirmish events with only the intel the event generated and I was able to claim all threshold rewards (130k points). So obviously, I spent zero dollars, dilithium, chronitons, etc....
This sounds awesome, even with the made-up Deanna and the Scimitar (a Reman/Romulan ship) thrown in there for no good reason, I’m looking forward to this event. Also, we FINALLY get a Borg faction and maybe even a Med Borg with the addition of fake Deanna.
One thing though, Drone Seven, again! Come on guys! You act like their are no other Sevens to use when it comes time for an event. I could swear I’ve seen Drone Seven used at least for 4 events throughout all of last year, yet all the others we have only get seen and used once, maybe twice if they’re really lucky. I mean, when was the last time we got to use Killing Game Seven as event crew? Or Seven in Purple? Or even the new Seven in Silver? That would have been an awesome use for that crew.
After all, there’s nothing that says that events can’t have more than one legendary in use, as we’ve seen in the past. It certainly doesn’t happen very often but perhaps it should, especially now that we have SO MANY legendaries to use now. Please, make use of them in these events and then it won’t seem like they’re collecting dust in our rosters.
Weirdly enough, I’m also Vulcan Housewife. Also, RNGesus hates me, like really, REALLY hates me.
Event Name: To Prove One's Self
Event Type: Hybrid Event Skirmish/Faction
Event Crew: Five of Twelve 5* (Existing), Assimilated Troi 4* (New), and Drone Seven of Nine 4* (Existing)
Event Dates: Thursday 01/17 until Monday 01/21
Ranked Reward 5*: Captain Braxton (New) - this crew will be featured event crew in the event starting on 01/24.
Event Factions:
Borg, Section 31
Bonus crew/ships:
Skirmish phase
• high bonus: event crew
• medium bonus: variants of Deanna Troi, variants of Seven of Nine, crew with the Borg trait, and crew with the Section 31 trait.
• small bonus: crew matching at least one trait of the current battle
Faction phase
• high bonus: event crew
• small bonus: variants of Deanna Troi, variants of Seven of Nine, crew with the Borg trait, and crew with the Section 31 trait.
Good lineup so far as crew is concerned but a trick is missing with you using Voyager rather than Borg sphere 878 in the 4* category. As I recall that was taken over by unimatrix zero drones

Absolutely. I still don't understand the people who talk about spending dil for extra chronitons or saving chronitons for skirmish events. I've easily ranked under 1k just from the perpetual chron machine of skirmish events. The last hybrid I started the event with ~600 chrons from a voyage that had just returned. Between threshold rewards and chrons dropped as rewards, I ended Thur night with enough intel to clear threshold at 350k. Maybe it's different at the top 25, but there is no reason to buy extra chrons for skirmish events, which means the only money DB makes is from people buying extra reward drops.
Looks like full skirmishes aren’t happening anymore?
I’d probably go a lot harder at this event if DB hadn’t just given some folks 1000s of chrons and speed boosts with yet another unbalanced bug 🙄
Am I the only one who feels really crummy when you find out others have been getting away with an exploit and keeping it hush-hush to gain an unfair advantage? Kind of ruins the community feel here, and certainly discourages any further effort/spending.
Exploit? Are you talking about the obvious macro users?
After the Update, you could Ad Warp Cadet Missions every half hour all day as long as you had a Ticket left.

How was that an exploit?
Because people were able to do 40+ Cadet Missions instead of six?

Everyone was able to do 40+ missions. Realising or finding out about that earlier than some doesn’t make it an exploit.
As it turns out, it’s been stopped. And I’m glad for that. I don’t want to have to have to run Thursday cadets every 30 minutes to stand a chance of being competitive in faction events.
The Scimitar may not be Borg, but at least it's a nifty looking ship. And it's not like the Borg are known for their extensive ship variety. Maybe I'm missing something, but other than Tactical Cubes I think that well is dry.
Oh, and the weird ship that Lore's Borg had. But kicking off a Borg faction with a splinter group's ship would be about as odd as a Romulan vessel.
(I'd be fine with something non-canon, particularly an assimilated Federation ship, rather than some other Platonic solid.)
Edit: Oh, and the Queen's ship. That was pretty distinct, so maybe in the future.

Actually, taking advantage of a glitch is exactly an exploit. There are games that ban players for exploiting a glitch.

It wasn't even a glitch. And who's to know it was. The intent was very clearly to be able to use ads instead of tickets, which didn't work at first, then DB posted an announcement that said sorry we fixed it and then you could warp without using tickets.
People, like myself, said this is bad bad bad for balance, rethink this, but it was clearly a game feature.
So no, this was no exploit or glitch, it was a poorly implemented idea by DB that we could all see coming, but anybody who had the chance to use the designed game feature should have.

Did they post that it was intentional? All I saw was the "This exploit will be fixed quickly" post. {And, it was fixed a few minutes later.} Curious why they would "fix" it, if it was intended?

"We are currently working on an adjustment that will add a limit to how many times ad-warp may be used for Cadet Challenges, and this adjustment would also involve ad-warps no longer consuming a cadet ticket."
I expect it will simply have a different timer, like Dabo has a 24-hour timer.
The same effect could have been achieved by increasing the number of daily tokens. This would have saved DB pointlessly messing around with a button and getting it wrong several times.

A restaurant starts offering a free side with every main meal but retracts the offer a week later after it proves more popular than they expected. Anyone who got free side orders in that short space of time wasn’t trying to break the system or make use of a mistake.
The Captain Braxton event where he's bonus crew would be perfect for a re-run just prior to a mega event, so ...
Best bet there is Endgame 2
Galaxy event with The Traveller, Wesley and Q as bonus crew.
- The event theme seems to fit the new captain (though I don't know much about ST to be certain there).
- We won't have had a Galaxy for a couple of weeks, but a Hybrid event would mean Extinction Point, and that theme does not seem to fit well.
- It would mean skipping two Galaxy events in the original running order, but those are Liberty for All (3) and the original Convergence Day ... the second won't be re-run (I think) and the first theme does not fit well at all and it would be a third running.
- The one interesting item ... the original Endgame had 2 5* crew as event crew (The Traveller and Lieutenant Wesley Crusher (pack only)) ... it would be interesting to see if they'd add both to the Threshold rewards or not ... ahem, I have a The Traveller at 1/5, so at least him please.
- The two 4*s were Captain Q and Human Q.
Borg Med is good - although I was expecting a Phlox one first!
The Borg Med character I was hoping for was Orum, the Romulan former drone who assisted Riley Frazier's Borg Cooperative in the Voyager episode "Unity."

Well, I chose Mirror Spock over The Traveler in a begold not that long ago. So maybe DB will punish me by doing a rerun of Endgame.

I really loved the Braxton char, and Troi is always one of my favorites regardless of type.
Also the scimitar was probably one of my favorite ships, I usually dont care about ships, but even I am tempted to try for it lol
