PS DB at least start using a wider variety of gear in Galaxy events. I remember when people lost their minds over having to farm Basic Bloodwine. Now its never used and I have 1200 bottles.

Those recipes are LONG overdue for a revamp.

Remember when Galay Events were first introduced and we were told the point was to help with inventory management? Now all I ever do is farm for 0* Furs, 0* Isolinear Rods and 1* ID Codes and rack up a zillion of the other things that drop from those missions. I can even remember Furs specifically being one of the items players were initially grateful to be able to dump, before every single crew outfit recipe started requiring a minimum of 28 of the mothersmurfing things at every level.

I might still recommend not going back to hard-to-farm or Faction-only items, but opening it up to use some of the ones that drop at very high rates isn’t a bad idea. I get that there will need to be some challenging items in the recipes to make us use chrons and get people to buy the 1250 chron deals, but would prefer if all such items were derived from ship battles rather than away team missions or faction stores and shuttle missions. So, as annoying as it can be to farm isolinear rods, at least doing so provides holoemitters...doing optronic data cores, hyperspanners, and desktop monitors (for example) does not.

I don't think anyone wants to have to go back to farming Bloodwine or Science Experiments; I certainly don't! But surely there are some reasonable alternatives. By recycling the same basic recipes every Galaxy Event, we're left with piles of the same things left over while stuck farming for the same handful of items every damn time.

And please, whenever the next Episode or Distress Call is added, do something about item distribution and drop rates that make them worth running. Give us a Space Battle that drops TNG Desktop Monitors at a rate comparable to "Assault and Battery", or DS9 Hyperspanners comparable to "By Hook or By Crook"/"Cleansing Fire". I can't be the only one who has to run ten Space Battles in the middle of a Galaxy Event just to meet my Daily Mission requirements because the recipes don't give me any reason to run them.

Isolinear Rods are an intriguing example. They do drop from a Space Battle ("Xahean Invasion"), but at a drop rate of 66.8 chrons per item per the Wiki, versus 10.9 from the Away Mission "Stolen Honor". So while you would definitely rack up Holoemitters, you'd be getting them at such a high cost that it would be counter-intuitive to being competitive in the Galaxy Event at hand. That effectively makes Isolinear Rods just as much an Away Mission-exclusive item as Optronic Data Cores, Hyperspanners, and Desktop Monitors.

Maybe they don’t bother me as much because I only rarely have the urge to make a top-1500 run in Galaxy events?

I went all out for Saboteur Garak last week, but before that the most effort I put into one was the Faction/Galaxy Hybrid for the Rura Penthe Commandant to start the April mega. But it seems every other crew member I've worked on since that event hasn't also needed some of them! Per the STT Crew Cost Finder:

    Rura Penthe Commandant x9*
    Prison Break Lorca x1
    Gladiator Spock x1*
    Captive Bashir x10
    Tholian Prisoner x2
    Taresian Kim x8
    Decoy Kira x2*
    Fugitive Spock x2

    *Data presently incomplete.

And that's not even counting the older crew who have come my way by pack or Voyage in that time. By far, the worst offender was Hologram Barclay, who needed 32 of the damn things!

Sounds like we’re mostly in the same boat, though I was thankfully able to avoid having to equip Hologram Barclay at the same time. Perhaps that was a karmic adjustment to make up for when I was equipping Cyrus Redblock and Yarnek at the same time back in 2017?

See, I only believe in karma for the bad things. I don't believe it ever gives us a break to make up for something bad earlier. In any event, I don't envy you slogging through that pair together!

That must be device-specific, as it looks proper for me in Steam and on my Moto G phone:

That's the way it looked before the update (the one with Seven in Silver). It has affected my entire game, not just the screen I posted.

    Super annoying.

I totally agre about switching up galaxy recipes. Make the components a mystery. Then you really got some difficult decisions, hoarding, and competition

One alternative to inventory issues is too make use of multiple immortalizations. Players receive rewards for immortalizing additional crew copies. For example this week many players will receive a 2* 7of9, 3* T'Pol and 4* Drone 7. Immortalize those crew and receive the normal amount of honour plus additional rewards depending on the difficulty of the crew.

I'm not sinking resources into duplicates, no matter how easy they are to equip and no matter how strong their stats.

I had that view until all my crew were fully equipped. I had to start on dups otherwise I couldn’t complete daily activities. Many have since been very handy in Faction events.

What I often do for the dailies is, do a 90K credit pull, level whoever the crew I get is to 10 (or pick one if the pull drops multiples) and equip one item (which is usually something I have hundreds of) and then airlock them. This takes care of four dailies all at once.

I used to be a 100% no dupe person, but a few events back I ended up with so many copies of the event crew from pulls that I went ahead and leveled a second of each 4* so I started the event with both of them 4/4, plus 2nd copies at 1/4 and 3/4. I fused the 1/4 from thresholds (along with her gold item) so played a chunk of the event with 2x 4/4's for one and a 4/4 and 3/4 (which I FF after the event) for the other and it definitely made me a bit more of a dupe fan (at least in certain circumstances). But then I generally have no crew to level either so don't feel I'm wasting stuff on dupes either.

And what else are you going to spend your resources on?

Last week's Galaxy where I placed top 5 I managed to fully deplete 5 different equipment. And now those 5 are creeping on up again. They're certainly not being used to level crew. I'll probably use them on this week's Galaxy but I doubt they'll be depleted again.

The ability to use a voyage token when we choose to. Rather than being forced to use one after it has been claimed from an event tier or in game memo.
  • I'd like a change to the way voyage crew stats are calculated. I think it would be really interesting for the slot that you put a crew in to matter based on the bonus trait for that slot. So if the bonus trait was borg for command, and you put a borg in that slot, the command trait gets doubled. Similarly, I would like ship traits to have a similar effect instead of adding a small flat amount of antimatter, it increases the stats of the crew you put on that ship. So there may actually be a reason to take a 4* ship that matches the ship trait rather than a 5* ship that doesn't.
My thought is this: matching ship trait doubles ALL stats for ALL crew. Matching crew slot traits doubles the specific stat that slot is looking for, but the bonuses are additive. So matching both ship and crew slots gives triple stats where the slot and trait match, and double stats everywhere else.

This is what I do most days of the week. Though I only level to 8 because that's as far as 10 of the 0* trainers takes them.

I haven't reached a point where my inventory is deep enough to hit the top 5 in a Galaxy event, though I hate that format far too much to grind it out even if I did. I dunno what you got for that rank, but it wasn't as much as you deserved for it!

I had another idea: Keep the ship schematics pulls as an everyday part of the game (not just for Skirmish events) and have a guaranteed 5 star pull for each one (maybe even begolds). This would help people actually upgrade their ships, especially now that there are so many 5 star ships in the game.

Its tedious as hell, not going to deny it. I'm not in a position to try hard again right now but I wouldn't want to do it anyways. Part of the reason I tried hard was to actually deplete my inventory which I wasn't all that successful at.

My starting points for a galaxy are 1000 of every 0/1* Component and 600 of every equipment used in Galaxies which isn't as hard to do as it sounds. I still don't have an outlet for my inventory so its just going to sit there accumulating. That's why I wouldn't mind just re-building crew over and over again. Its different, uses a wider variety of material and it would alter how people play in Galaxies and Skirmishes.

    ******

    Another random thought:
Increase the build costs for items in Galaxies (10-12 for example) but each Supply Mission gives a Skirmish style reward on top of the VP.
