{Which had, among other things, a Chief Security Officer who was allegedly a shape-shifter.}
@DScottHewitt Interesting, I've not heard that before. I cannot seem to find any sources to back it up, either - all I have read is that the one-off assassin in the pilot was supposed to shapeshift naturally, rather than being a Minbari using tech. Do you mind my asking your source for this?
I heard about it years ago. Maybe in a magazine related to sci fi? Allegedly {<---EMPHASIS!!!} there were several similarities in the early pitch to Paramount for what became Babylon Five, that could be considered very similar to what became Deep Space Nine. Not just the shapeshifter, but other things, IIRC. Like the Station was near a war-torn less advanced planet, that had just gotten their freedom? Been years and my memory is bad, as well. {<---EMPHASIS!!!}
Errr... OK. Well, don't let that hold you back from publishing these things as fact.

Okay. RIMSF. I NEVER said ANY of it was facts. I believe my original post used the word "Allegedly" at least twice. And the post above even POINTS TO "ALLEGEDLY" AND SAYS "EMPHASIS!!!!!"
{Both times you quoted me include the word........}

I don't personally want to get dragged into a canonical debate about Disco, the upgraded effects don't bother me, and the newly designed Klingons don't bother me (I mean seriously, it's not like Klingons haven't be redesigned before!), but based on the available evidence I have at my disposal I am choosing not to watch it for ethical reasons, which I will briefly describe under spoiler tags now...
Based on the evidence I have seen/heard/read it is my personal opinion that the producers of Disco stole the idea for season 1 and a large portion of the cast from Anas Abdin and his game Tardigrades, so I am personally boycotting Discovery. If this is the first you are hearing about this, I HIGHLY suggest doing a search for "Anas Abdin lawsuit" and doing your own research.
And just to be clear, I'm not outright accusing anybody of anything illegal here or stating with any certainty that I know what happened, just that I personally believe this is a major breach of acceptable ethics and on those grounds I choose to not support disco.
...if you enjoy Discovery, that is all good with me, just don't lump me in with the haters
Do you enjoy Deep Space Nine? Paramount allegedly came up with it after JMS pitched an early version of Babylon Five. {Which had, among other things, a Chief Security Officer who was allegedly a shape-shifter.}

The "allegation" about Paramount, I brought up myself earlier in this thread (although I did appreciate you repeating it, many thanks). There are many sources and quotes on which it is based - I was reading up on it a few months ago, as I did a Babylon 5 marathon across a couple of skirmishes and was interested in the background.
Nothing about B5's security officer being a shapeshifter, though. Wait, are you saying that when you wrote "{Which had, among other things, a Chief Security Officer who was allegedly a shape-shifter.}", what you were trying to write was '{Which allegedly had, among other things, a Chief Security Officer who was a shape-shifter.}'?
In English, word placement is important in sentences. And even then, it's your allegation - that's not how we use "allegedly" in English. You need to be referring to the (actual) allegations of others.
Sometimes I forget not every poster on this forum is a native English speaker! Still, it's always nice to have the chance to be helpful.

It is not DScottHewitt's allegation. There are multiple people on Babylon 5 threads and forums that have made the allegation that the original Babylon 5 story idea which was given to Paramount had a security chief who was a shape-shifter. DScott is clearly referencing these people and their allegation. Perhaps it was not your intention to troll DScott but that is how it came across. From reading your messages to him PenguinJim, to me you came across as rude and sarcastic. Remember too that this is a forum for people to communicate in an informal manner. Ad Hominem: (adjective) 1. (of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. (Example) "vicious ad hominem attacks."
1. Your position seemed to be about personal attacks, therefore @Banjo1012 referencing it was actually in agreement with your position.
2. I would hardly classify that as an attack, I would call it an observation based on observed behaviors.
This was not ad hominem in my opinion, this was self-fulfilling prophecy. I'd be more than happy to share that definition as well if it would be helpful.

@(HGH)ApolloLike I said before, I cannot find these references on threads or forums, and haven't heard this despite reading up the topic recently.
Would you happen to have a link, please?
(I'm not great with names, but I'm fairly sure I've seen something about DScottHewitt not being a native English speaker here in the past...?
Do you enjoy Deep Space Nine? Paramount allegedly came up with it after JMS pitched an early version of Babylon Five. {Which had, among other things, a Chief Security Officer who was allegedly a shape-shifter.}
QUOTED FOR THE PENGUIN..........
@(HGH)ApolloLike I said before, I cannot find these references on threads or forums, and haven't heard this despite reading up the topic recently.
Would you happen to have a link, please?

Scott is a native English speaker as far as I know, but a few years back he did have his hands surgically removed and replaced with Slinkies, so sometimes he has difficulty typing. #AdventuresOfDScottHewitt

I must say, if that's true, his typing is excellent. I don't remember ever seeing a problem with his typing. It's not something I would have ever guessed - it doesn't seem to show at all!
But I've never felt so uncomfortable about using the Awesome as I just did with your post..!

Internet forum with snide comments? Lack of civility is "just how it is". Cue the ad homenim attacks.

Bro, my comment wasn't JUST about ad hominem. I also mentioned "snide comments" and "lack of civility". Feel free to take back all your nastiness.

No, you've added the words "security chief" with no apparent justification. Read it again. It makes no such mention. (In fact, I referred to that change earlier in this thread! My Janeway is Immortalized. If I Fuze them the Evolved Janeway will be Level 100 and FE?
How does that work again?
Immortalized copies are useless in this regard. The ideal approach is to fully-fuse the 4* crew and level them up to L99, then fuse with the other 4* crew to create the new 5* crew.
She was already 100 and Immortalized. I guess I'll wait and do it the slow way with another Janeway.....

I'm sorry. I forget this is an international game, and English is not everyone's first language. She was Level 100 before the Event............
Nomad tried to help DScottHewitt fuse a Mutated Janeway by asking if he got four more Janeways from the event that finished the day before (so he could contact support and reclaim them), and Scott said... that.
By the way... I'm not even sure how to ask this! My friend is a multiple amputee, and has some oddly-named things, like an Össur foot. Because at this point in my game it’s not about the crew, it’s about the victory, the competition, and the time availability. I had Thursday and Friday off work. I felt with the skill disappointment less people would be thirsty, and I felt at that stage of resource hoarding I had the tools to win.

Ha, I guess editing in @(HGH)Apollo didn't work! Sorry about forgetting to include it. Anyway, if you could just grab those links from your history (where you found "people referencing" that B5's Security Chief was going to be a shapeshifter) before they get too deeply buried and you have to spend time trawling, that'd be great. I'll work backwards from there myself - it seems like I'm the one most interested in the topic, after all!
The only two places I could find that referenced it were here and here.
(A side-note - you say this place is informal and shouldn't be held to as high a standard as something published, but you contradict yourself by saying "There are multiple people on Babylon 5 threads and forums that have made the allegation..." - so other forums can be used as citable sources? Do you see the double-standard? All it takes is a little responsibility with what one publishes online. We're all human, and it's fine to make mistakes, after all - so when we do publish something factually incorrect (as I have done a couple of times this year, too!), hopefully someone will be there to correct us. Making mistakes is fine. Refusing to accept it, despite the evidence... that's not so good.)
Comments
Errr...
{Both times you quoted me include the word........}

Have a nice day.
Sure you can find someone else to Troll. Y'all are good at that.
I'm not quite following..? Did you mean to write "help" instead of "Troll"? I'm afraid those two words have quite different meanings in English!
You have a nice day as well. Start of the Steam sale! Let's hope DB discounts the Timelines DLC.
It is not to be held to as high a standard as something published.
It came across as rude and sarcastic because he meant it that way. This is certainly not the first time he has been a whatever you call it donut
Oops...being the imperfect human, and posting the original comment at 2AM, i actually forgot ENT. I liked ENT as well (minus the temporal cold war plot)
Internet forum with snide comments? Lack of civility is "just how it is". Cue the ad homenim attacks.
Spoken like a true seasoned veteran
All of six minutes wait for someone to prove my point.
Would you happen to have a link, please?
(I'm not great with names, but I'm fairly sure I've seen something about DScottHewitt not being a native English speaker here in the past...? Besides his post content (e.g. the punctuation, word placement), I mean. I assumed that was why he was shouting at me. I'll brave the forum search on my PC later - I hadn't realized it was such an issue!)
Bro, my comment wasn't JUST about ad hominem. I also mentioned "snide comments" and "lack of civility". Feel free to take back all your nastiness.

Here is the part from the post talking about the shape-shifter security chief.
"Both series originally featured a shapeshifter character; however, Babylon 5 dropped that element before filming, replacing it with occasional characters using various illusory and camouflage mechanisms."
Voyager is not STV, it’s VOY
Deep Space Nine is not STD, it’s DS9
Next Generation is not STN, it’s TNG.
Discovery is shortened to DSC.
I'm not falling for this. If you'd like to chat, let's chat, otherwise, let's just move on.
I agree, let's move on.
No, you've added the words "security chief" with no apparent justification. Read it again. It makes no such mention. (In fact, I referred to that change earlier in this thread! The assassin becoming a Minbari with tech? Given the year, though, it would have been stranger if they hadn't had a morphing character at some point!)
As you "can find people referencing it", would you mind sharing those links instead, please?
Edit: I forgot to @(HGH)Apollo ! No wonder you didn't immediately grab the links from your history and settle it. I wonder if @ing works if you edit it in?
People calling Discovery STD tells you more about the maturity of the people than it tells you anything about Discovery.
Well, it took nearly a minute to find the comment, but it looks like I was wrong: https://forum.disruptorbeam.com/stt/discussion/comment/151814/#Comment_151814
When you said "Slinkies", I assumed it was a name or brand for a hand prosthetic in your or DScottHewitt's region, as I only know the helical spring toys, Slinkys, but.... my goodness, this is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever said in my life! But... were you just making a joke about hand amputation?
What the hell is happening?
Who is here to stop me?!
Everyone at once! Or one at a time!
**tsk tsk**. Lying makes Baby Jesus cry.
