No. That really happens. At 2AM Sunday morning, it becomes 1AM.......
Some states in the US do not use Daylight Savings, and several more states are abandoning it as of next year. I would hazard a guess this will go away sometime in the future. It was originally designed for farming as I recall, and hardly necessary anymore.
If my memory of history is correct, it was introduced not for farmers (who get up whenever they have to so they may tend to their fields/animals anyway) but rather to conserve on the use of energy resources for light and heating/cooling, with the idea being that if people are awake with the sun that they wouldn’t need artificial light and can sleep through less comfortable temperatures.
As with most anything introduced by politicians rather than arising from actual necessities, use of energy for lighting does decrease by 1% (or less) while energy use for climate control increases by nearly 5%. Certain businesses have noticed a net benefit (mainly golf courses) but it’s honestly a net negative when everyone else is taken into account, at least here in the US.

I am not sure we are all talking about the same thing because I see a bunch of different things being thrown around. You will see the rewards structure next Wednesday once the event is announced.
The flashback event will have the same rewards structure as the previous flashback event.
So it is not a rerun, there is no new crew and the old crew will not be in threshold rewards.

The tune change is a real thing. They do it every fall and spring. It’s super depressing. You leave for work and it’s dark, you leave for home and it’s dark. They need to stop doing it. It starts getting dark at damn near 4:00 in the afternoon

Yes, I realize that - that's why I'd prefer to make the summer time shift permanent. The assignment of the numbered hour to a particular time of day is an arbitrary choice. Nothing says we have to use "standard" time if we were to abolish the DST mechanism.

As an aside, there is a great clip of Scott Bakula from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on youtube. Bakula has fallen on hard times and is seen by the group working as an orderly mopping the floor of a nursing home and Bakula sings about it.

We had a voting on summer vs. standard time in Europe. But now it is up to the governments to decide and changes either direction will take effect in 2021. Time shifts will be gone then.

Any speculation on Archer's stats? Regardless of which desert episode, I could see some mix of CMD/DIP/SEC. Maybe the episode on Vulcan could have a different mix, but nothing comes to mind.

I would like this, but only if Katra McCoy also counts as a variant of Spock (I'm pretty sure it was the same situation, though I might be wrong). It would also be appropriate considering Zhian'tara Odo counts as a Dax variant, including for next week's event.
As i recall Syran did pass on the katra of Surak to Archer in the opening episode of the trilogy (S4.07, 'The Forge) while using the Vulcan word for remember during the meld with Archer. Archer definitely should count as a variant of Surak as several aspects of his behaviour were not exactly what you'd normally ascribe as his character during the subsequent scenes in the 3 episodes.

If you eat, thank a farmer and yeah, they still work from sunrise to sunset, so DST does actually factor into their work hours during growing season, from planting to harvest. SMH.
